@Darkstorm:
Shame you chose the One Piece anime against the DBZ anime then.
Because that really isn't worth a debate. One series has better animation, one series kept the feel of the manga better, one series has less filler, and one series(and this I suppose is personal preference) has superior BGM. And they're all One Piece.
A Dragon Ball/One Piece manga debate would be interesting I suppose.
Better animation
Agreed, but it's more of a time thing. Obviously a show made 10 years after DBZ will have better animation than DBZ. However, I think some of the best animated episodes of DBZ keep up with some of today's stuff. Wait until Kai reaches the Trunks vs. Freeza fight. Amazing stuff.
one series kept the feel of the manga better
Now this one is debatable. The pacing of DBZ is some of the worst in the history of anime (lol 5 minutes), but you can't just ignore the sheer amount of filler arcs in One Piece. And some of the more recent episodes have been approaching DBZ levels of "dragging on".
However, if you skip fillers, than I agree completely. Kai vs. One Piece on the other hand…
one series has less filler,
Now for this one, I'm pretty sure you're wrong completely. One Piece has more filler than Dragon Ball. It just doesn't have the same kind of filler as Dragon Ball. Instead of random, annoying shots of Bulma or Mr.Satan during the fights against Freeza and Cell, One Piece has filler arcs. I'm pretty sure that if we were to count the minutes of filler in One Piece and in Dragon Ball/Z, One Piece would be higher.
But then again, this isn't a bad thing. With One Piece, you just skip the filler arcs when you want to watch the series. For DB fans, it's not so practical to fast forward through stare downs and "IT'S A TRICK! A TRICK I TELLS YA!"
and one series(and this I suppose is personal preference) has superior BGM.
I'm sorry, but I feel that Dragon Ball Z clearly has the superior BGM. Again, not to say that One Piece has bad BGM, or even mediocre BGM. It's great. But DBZ's is legendary.
twenty absolutely amazing pieces of BGM from DBZ in case you aren't too familiar with it.
Let's talk about music is general for a second. Last episode recap music is forgettable in One Piece, whereas it's wonderful in DBZ. I don't think there's even a debate when it comes to insert songs.
One Piece out of the
.
Now, let's get onto OP's and ED's. I can count all of the DB/Z OPs and EDs on my fingers: Makafushigi Adventure, Romantikku Ageru Yo, Cha La! Head Cha La!, Zenkai Power, We Gotta Power! and We Were Angels. That's 6 songs. It would take me at least 5 Dragon Ball minutes to type up all of the One Piece OP and EDs.
I feel that all 6 of the above songs are masterpieces. Even though nearly all of them were each played for over 100 episodes each, I never got sick of hearing those songs. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the One Piece OPs and EDs (specifically the EDs, as short as some of them lived). It's unfortunate that One Piece started with an awesome anime opening theme (We Are!) and now… uses J-Pop songs as their OPs. I'm sorry guys, that's what they are. I can't stand some of those songs after a couple of episodes =/
Again, I don't hate One Piece music. I fucking love it, and it's my second favourite music in all of anime. I just feel that Dragon Ball music is superior in every way
