Very cool! That said, for me the second half the series needs redoing more than the first half. The early stuff holds up well for me, and you still had a nice 1.5 ch per episode up through Water 7 etc. East Blue is pretty terrific as is to me.

So this is cool if they pull it off, and it's fun they're giving it a try. Just for me I'll need them to get to way later stuff to personally get a big kick out of it, and the original version of the anime (especially the early stuff) will always have some extra nostalgia and connection for me I think.

Always good to see Lupin and Gundam mentioned, some of my classic favs, still going.

For me I'm mainly watching older stuff, like Slam Dunk, the original Dragon Ball, etc, but did see the first few episodes of Chainsaw Man, enjoyed it. Way of the Househusband is a fun recent one too, even on its lower animation budget, lot of charm.

Definitely part of the beauty of Lupin. That the gang is so versatile, even with their known (and loved) personalities. You can see the influence it had on Cowboy Bebop, and a big part is the gang dynamic. I like how sometimes Fujiko just seems kind of tired and comically flustered, going with the flow. Like at the end of that episode where they all lost money at the casino, and are walking down the street in their underwear etc. Sometimes her vibe is like "oh whatever, ok". And it's funny as hell.

Ditto for Goemon, so used to his being the stoic and disciplined guy (though also shy and quirky). So when he does stuff like again saying hell yeah I wanna go to the casino and gamble (I just happened to watch ep 10 of red jacket yesterday), etc. It's funny. Shorter version of my point, for sure we know the main role they usually have, so it's funny and pleasing how they mix that up from time to time.

And gotta love Cagliostro for sure, one of the best movies ever made. In my top few.

I've been enjoying this big post about the animators for series 2, very cool stuff. Had no idea one of the notable animators on that Lupin series also worked on Galaxy Express 999 movies, Batman TAS, etc.

I know you don't like it, and that's cool. But plenty of fans do like it, so I was just sharing another view for the fan who asked. It's even getting a blu-ray release in the US in August, I've seen people talking about that. At least we all dig Lupin.

That was intended as humor, with just a bit of love for how cool and fun the anime vibe was at that time. That said, I really got a kick out of that Mega Man anime. The characterization and style was pretty true to the games, and really fun. Them coming out of the TV into Japan may not be everybody's bag, but I found it really solid fun. Oddly enough I watched it just a few months ago, since I was on a Mega Man kick, reading comics and manga.

Cool, always dig liner notes. AnimeEigo always did cool ones in their titles. And cool to see watching of vintage Lupin specials, I really enjoyed those. The majority of them were pretty cool I found.

Also, from last page, I do recommend Dragon of Doom. Everybody digs different stuff, but it's overall a reasonably received special. Has a 7 on MAL, I gave it a 9 myself. How can you say no to this plot sell:

"A Hong Kong crime boss contracts Lupin, Fujiko and Jigen to recover a legendary dragon statue that sunk with the Titanic. Unfortunately for them, the dragon is a treasure of Goemon's clan, said to have power exceeding that of his Zantetsuken sword". Plus, it's from 1994. Was there a bad anime made in 1994?

On if the CGI Lupin movie has all the usual Lupin tropes, for me there's one must have. Fujiko playing the seduce card on Lupin. Also, them getting prank married, though I think that only happened like twice. I'm not shipping, you're shipping, don't judge me (haven't seen the movie)

Looks good! Can't wait to see this, the films are always a good time.

Just watched that trailer from June, gotta say it looks great! Pretty exciting.
