Can the word Haki be banned? Seriously, it's getting pretty annoying.
Straw hat's Separation Series

I'm hoping Usopp will get a means of defending againts bullets.
He's going to need it, if he wants to survive against another sniper.Although it will never happen, i'd actually like the idea of him getting a shield (as seen in the movie 10 spread) with a super magnet.
-
Ussops & Brooke's upgrade is what im curious about. Especially Ussop since the area he landed on seems intriguing with all that plants and shit.
-
No .
coby/helmeppo was animated. So it's isn't a flat out no, and these cover stories are relevant enough to the story that they probably WILL get animated.

They also animated the Buggy side story from the covers (episodes 46 and 47).
-
@Psycho_Kenshin:

I'm guessing they only animated those important to the story down the road. (sorry cp9, enel, gedetsu, wapol…) Plus, I can't see these not being animated especially with being so close to the manga. If anything they'll be expanded on.
-
Just like how they animated Jango, Hatchi, and Baroque Works.
-
I agree that's it's weird how Toei avoids the cover stories.
When they're coming up with any random thing they can for filler such as feudal Japan Boss Luffy stories, you'd think they could spare a couple episodes here and there to do some title page cover stories.
I think they'll cover the Straw Hat ones though, especially since they've only been 2 pages each so far. If they continue to only be two pages per character, they could probably just do one episode of "where are the Straw Hats?" or something like that.
-
Lol…I find myself reiterating this a lot.
Buggy's Coverstory and Coby/Helmeppo's Coverstory had REALLY terrible ratings back when they first aired. Though they are indeed canon to the actual story, the low viewership made Toei realize that it's not worth it to animate coverstories. This is just a guess on my part, but it's probably because none of the Strawhats were featured there, and this was before people realized that Oda likes bringing up story elements that occured WAAAAAY earlier. However, if the viewers do want coverstories animated (read: Japanese viewers; but American viewers should be able to as well if we ever get the simulcast up again), let your voice be heard and notify Toei Animation. If enough of the fans want it badly enough, then they have to consider it.
[this info was paraphrased from the One Piece/Toei panel at Anime Expo 2007]Since this is actually the first time we've ever had Strawhats in the coverstories, we'll most likely get them animated. However, I can understand why Toei wouldn't want to animate any of the earlier ones, even Hachi's. Whether or not we'll see any more coverstories animated after the Separated Strawhats Series remains to be seen.
-
You know I've heard that before, and I've also heard that it was an urban myth. I want proof one way or the other.
-
I was at the panel and heard it. The speculation is my own thought on the subject, but the "low ratings" and "mail Toei" came straight from the translator's mouth for Eisoku Inoue(sp?).
-
As nice as that is, it's not proof that I can reference.
-
It's not like I was there taking minutes on a typewriter or laptop. You'll have to sift through Youtube to see if anyone recorded the panel from AX07.
edit–
Might as well start from -
I can see why they wouldn't animate some of the cover stories, like Wapol's, which really don't seem that important to the plot of One Piece. Plus I don't think Wapol's really a fan favorite, though he has fans on here. Plus the whole format of the cover stories, lacking in dialogue for the most part, probably makes it a hassle to adapt them.
As for the Staw Hat cover stories, one problem is how short they are, they don't have enough substance.
Take Robin's for example. We just see two snapshots of Robin in situations, how will Toei know how to connect those situations and tell a story? I suppose they could if Oda fills them in on the details, but then again Oda's probably saving those details for the proper manga.
Hmm… really, it does seem odd to put the main characters in these cover stories. But it is nice to get a sneak peak at what they're up to, even if it's smaller than I'd like.
Oda's an interesting guy. Definitely ambitious.
-
im really sorry for the really late updaye, i was kinda on a 12-hur flight at the moment

haki?
take your time jane =0 -
coolness <3
who's next on chapter 551?
Usopp!
Franky went to VEGAPUNK!! He'll be able to learn new tech. and improve himself..
Luffy's Haki will be increased or something..I guess thinks
hope it's Usopp's turn to be USEFUL!<< sorry Usopp =S
x -
Usopp - Meeting Hercule, gaining courage and strength in a harsh environment; basically what he lacked.
Nami - Sky Island about weather, gaining knowledge to enchance her weapons and become more of an asset to the SH crew
Robin - 700 year old bridge ?! more about THE history, maybe seeing a poneglyph, learning more about the resistance ?
Franky - Learning the history of Vegapunk, enhancing his own skills and improving his own cyborg tech?
Sanji - Landing on a transvestite island conquering his obession with females, and overcoming his weakness in fighting them?
Brook and Chooper are two that I can't figure out, Chooper landed on a island with large animals, maybe he can hone his rumble ball final transformation into something useful but I can't see what Brook will gain from landing into a cult worshipping Satan. Demonic Powers FTW?
-
You forgot Zoro^^
-
zoro is going to get some TLC from his new lady friend… he's done enough
-
Zoro - will have a upgrade to his katana's ghosts.
Some kind of bond betwin him and his swords. -

How could you forget about zoro?! Zoro hater D:
lol.. Perona.. I love her though haha horo horo horo
-
Usopp is so fat in the 2nd part of his series. How will he slim down?
-
Usopp is so fat in the 2nd part of his series. How will he slim down?
My hope is that he will work it off in his island adventures, making him stronger. The other is of course that we have a fat usopp for the rest of the series, which would be hilarous of course, but counter-productive for a marksman/sharpshooter/sniper. He would be seen a mile away.
-
Zoro - will have a upgrade to his katana's ghosts.
Some kind of bond betwin him and his swords.Kitetsu was the cursed one, right? Maybe Perona somehow helps him to get the curse out of the sword. A curse is somewhat of a "negative energy", since real ghosts don't seem to exist in the world of One Piece. With the negative energy gone, the sword maybe becomes stronger.
Nami, I think, will upgrade her weapon with those wind knots. Maybe she builds herself a whole new weapon. She got the sticks, she got the ropes. A weather nunchaku? Or this funky weapon Gordon Liu builds himself in "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin"?
-
i really want to see a fat usopp reunite with the strawhats, looking forward to a chopper reaction
-
I am sure he will not stay fat since in the newest strong hold picture he is skinny
-
@LUFFY#1:

has it been said the movie is cannon?
-
@Shaman:
has it been said the movie is cannon?
Oda himself makes the movie. SO probably it will have some cannon points. But we have to see if th story plays after this war.
-
Usopp + fat = no running away
I'm sure he'll slim down by the time he meets up with everyone, but since he's fat, he has no other choice but to stand his ground against the enemies he faces.
-
I bet Usopp ate a fruit or something that made him temporarily fat, and he will use this fruit as weapon, imagine him shooting it into the foes mouth making him fat, aweosme. :D
-
@Shaman:
has it been said the movie is cannon?
i dont think its been said yet.
-
Usopp being fat has a good few points for his sniping abilities if he stays that way. He will have to have better aim and reaction times to compensate for his size, and to be able to target moving objects that are aimed at him as his defensive skills which will be a bonus in some shape or form.
-
I don't think he will stay fat and I don't want him to.
-
Yeah maybe he will eat the fruit alvida ate? i think it would be funny if that happend
-
I don't think Usopp is going to get that much of a huge buff in terms of fighting ability. Mostly he's gonna get a huge confidence boost seeing as how he will need to survive without the other SH backing him up. This will be the beginning of him developing more in fighting capability which will increase as the series progresses.
-
Usopp is a damage sponge. Now that he's fat, he can absorb way more damage. He may even rival Zoro! Go, dude, go!
does anyone really think he'll stay fat? :ninja:
-
Usopp=Straw Hat version of Lucky Roux, fat yet the fastest character ever? Maybe Oda made him fat so he can stand his ground while shooting enemies away? Why must Oda do this to us?
-
Usopp the glutton liar… XD
If he can conquer obesity... then he is on the right track to being a great warrior of the sea... Usopp being obese reminds of Master Roshi's turtle shell training. Using body weight instead of heavy shells, If he can shed off those extra pounds, Im pretty sure his endurance, stamina and speed will have a great boost.
-

No, it's a clever plot device so that Usopp can stand his ground against Sentoumaru. Either that, or Oda doing comic relief which, as we know by now, is totally uncharacteristic of him.
-
Usopp getting the Life Return Slim Fast treatment?
-
I think he ate maybe a food their, that multiplies body fat, so maybe he will discover this, take these foods and then shoot them into enemy's mouths so they gain weight instintly and are too slow to run from his attacks.
-
After the new coverstory, I think Kuma got Usopp, Luffy, and Sanji mixed up…
-
I posted this in the theory thread also:
So here is my theory, when the Strawhats flew for 3 days. I believe they all flew at the same constant speed. In otherwords they all flew in different directions. But they had somethings in common.
The time they flew: 72 hours to be exact
They flew at the same speed: X m/hYou see the picture I made? In otherwords they should be somewhere on that redline if they travelled at X m/h. So we have a long line of where all Strawhats can potentially be. I dont know if anyone said this already. Though it might interest some. So I thought of posting it here
-

lol not really
sanji on luffy island woudl have gladly allowed himself to get killed or turn to stone
Luffy on Ussop island may have ate a second devilfruit and if not would have jsut continued eating til his heart content
how long would luffy stay on that island
then ussop on man only island has no effect
-
I still see no reason to believe Devil Fruits are on Boin.

I thought it was 3 days as well, but it wasn't. It seems that Sentoumaru was misinformed.
-
I would figure three days to be the maximum time. Luffy simply didn't fly that far.

two days ago
luffy arrived on the third day
