Yeah I'm going to try and wait for a rip of the OP special, I have a FIOS connection that's blazing fast, and it kept stuttering for me.
I watched the DBZ special via Youtube and is it just me or does Nami's VA do ChiChi? 0_o (Maybe because it's been ages since I've watched the Japanese version and was never too fond of it. Yes I know about Goku/Goten/Gohan's VA being Kureha and Krillin's being Luffy)

Ah, so I wasn't the only one who thought that voice sounded familiar. ANN's database doesn't list Nami's VA as doing Chi Chi, but Chi Chi did have a few voices throughout DBZ, so who knows.
Yeah, I have a really fast internet connection (like 11mbps), but experienced a lot of choppiness as well. It only had a few hiccups during the Dragon Ball special, but it's been very slow during the One Piece one so far.
Oh, this is awesome: someone has ripped already the DBZ and the Tegami Bachi ovas and had put torrents on Tokyotosho, but then he said "I'll do the OP special tomorrow"…

Well, having now seen it in full, I'm not terribly impressed by it. It's not really the story's fault, it's just the timing. It no longer feels fresh, more like a rehash of events from long ago, with the other Straw Hat's cameoing at the end. The art was really spotty. I would think that they would put more effort into an OVA than one of the weekly episodes, but whatever. Couldn't recognize the director, though some parts towards the end looked like a really low-quality Ishizuka.
I did like everyone fighting to the original We Are! though, with similar camera angles. And Usopp striking the Sogeking pose without the mask. And Robin had a cool outfit, but I guess at this point I would have preferred an original story over what we got. Oh well, you can't have them all.

Pissed me off that the guys had as much trouble against them as they did though. And that Luffy tied scene was wack. The guy can split apart two buildings and eat through cages yet he can't even snap apart rope tied around him-_-
Though props to the really cool outfits and awesome ending. I swear an ending like that would have made a great one if they still did endings in One Piece.
This was definitely a good special. I love how they included Brook and actually showed his wanted poster. And Luffy owning Gary was awesome. I loved this maybe more than the DB one but both were great.
It felt very nostalgic when they played We Are original version plus Robin, Franky, Chopper and Brooke. Although it disappointed me that Chopper didn't get in too much fight because he did a counterattack first =(
It seemed that in the absence of Luffy, the person who will be in command is Zoro (I just noticed Sanji's complain, but he had no choice but to listen to him LOL)
and the CREDIT SONG!!!! oh my god, the most adorable thing ever, now I'm really excited to see Brook in the crew. I listen to that song all over again xDDDD

Art was Okay…But there was a scene after Silk rescued Luffy from the sea, that was definitely Ishizuka. But the rest of the episode was okay. I didn't see no Ishizuka at the end, G3 was the same too.
The style looks pretty much like Takeo Ide. I always hated how Ide draws Luffy's hat, Very small edges.
Luffy using Gear 3 to destroy that gimpy little ship is pointless as he could of done it without it, and even making this is pointless if they aren't going t stick to how the original went. Other than that it was ok I guess.

Has anyone else tried the official streamer on Vista/64? It doesn't seem to work.
It stops at a screen showing a gray gradient in the picture area and sits forever, as though it might at some point do something.
Installing Flash again doesn't help (despite objections about a missing flash.ocx). Running as administrator doesn't help (up from a typical Vista near-admin account).
If you expect me to cripple my Phenom (by reinstalling a 32-bit OS) to see filler, Shueisha dear, you've got another thought coming.

Brook's voice is very recognizable x3 I actually don't care about the story that much as long as the crew worked together =)
I love that song very much and I really want it like now.
They should give Brook more moves to do besides Gavotte: Bond en Avant, or was it Aubade: Coup Droit? I can never tell. I thought Hanauta Sanchou: Yahazu Giri was his signature move, ah well.

Ah. Thanks for the One Piece download. Now I hav both Dragon Ball: Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! and One Piece: Romance Dawn saved on my computer. But say, do you happen to know where I might be able to download the Tagami Bachi Letter Bee: Light and Blue Fantasy special? Watching anything with the Jump browser is torture and I would like to have all three of these specials saved on my computer. :P Sorry for the off topic-ness.
I will offer my opinion on the One Piece special as soon as I have watched it. So far I have only watched Dragon Ball. From what I have seen of this though, the animation looks really nice. Incorporating the story as an anime cannon special with the current straw hat crew was an interesting move. Though I might have preffered that they would just straight up anime the pilot chapter.

It was Ishizuka for sure, indeed. And not only one scene, it was him until Sunny reaches Luffy, at least. During a few minutes, the animation gets way more dramatic.

I've taken some snapshots of the ending still's and have been removing the credits off of them and redrawing/coloring/touching up etc… I havn't spent that long on them (about 30 mins for each one, and I couldn't be arsed to remove the logo at the top right :P ) here are the 4 I've done so far.

Oda never officially wrote it, but both the Jump special episode and the merchandizing (well, his POP at least) have been using "Brook" without the "e", so I guess it can be considered the "official" name (besides, I'm not sure if there's enough room under the speech bubble in the manga to fit FIVE more letters after the "B". But it's just my assumption)
(… Isn't BrookE a girl's name anyway?)

So, yeah, about the special episode. I found it pretty entertaining, even though I must admit the parts that thrilled me the most were the ones that WEREN'T in the original Romance Dawn. XD I loved that part with We Are playing in the background and similar camera angles as the first opening. Usopp doing the Sogeking pose after sniping the Gally pirates's rudder was pretty cool XD loved the part with Brook striking and the ennemies being struck only a few seconds later, although I felt like the animation could have been better on that part, it felt a bit stiff to me. Maybe it's just my imagination. (also, as someone mentionned, they could have used several moves for each character. Brook did Gavotte: Bond en avant twice (... I think that's the one... I kinda fail at remembering the names of all the characters's attacks XD), and Robin used Clutch several times too. Oh well, I guess the battle wasn't long enough to show their abilities)
Ending was neat, as I mentionned the still pics were beautiful, and I loved hearing Brook singing A Thousand Dreamers with the other Straw-hats, it really felt like he became an entire part of the crew at last. :3
I tried watching this today thought the Jump browser and I only got audio. I'm using flash 10 and firefox.
I just remembered Gally made an appearance in Episode 48 in Loguetown where he gets beaten up by Smoker. Here's a fun comparison I made just for kicks

The Loguetown version looks taller, something you can't quite see in my screens. Their VAs are completely different too. (not that I was expecting them to dig up the original VA or anything.
Also, speaking of VAs, anyone have a cast list for these specials yet, I'm curious who voiced Silk and Gally.
The special was pretty good. Having the original We Are! playing in the backround during the fight really brought back a lot of memories.

I enjoyed it. I never really read the original Romance Dawn, guess I should do it soon now. The highlight for me was the fighting scene at the end, with We Are in the background. Zoro and Sanji took out theese pirates in about the exact same way as they did in the first Opening, right? I also liked seeing Brook as part of the crew animated for the first time, and the animation and art style was almost just as I like it. And I LOVED to see Luffy in red again. I'm so dead tired of that yellow-orange Thriller Bark-thingy.
Well, his vest is blue in the next arc, but his pants are still his normal jeans. I kind of wish Oda had kept the iconic red vest and blue jeans, but whatever, I guess he had to make some changes after about 10 years.

I think the one piece ones is probably better but there both ok. Interesting how both involve fighting an opponent that is far weaker than them.
Was nice to see a new dragonball z episode all the same though.
I've like Luffy's new vest, espicially the orange one. :(

Yup, I will be doing the rest of them, (I think Usopp is next if memory serves me). But my Cp9 independant report chapter cover colorings take priority. I have almost finished this week though 
. So I'll probably have time to do the next 2 characters pics before the end of the week
