Kumadori's face remind me of that lion on the sail in 7th opening.
-
Okay, that is the best cover Oda has ever done. I'm in love.
Oh, and I got dibs on using Robin (shoulders up) as an avatar. Just gotta wait till after the holidays.
-
I hope this Tanko doesn't sell badly because of the negative connotations of the number 4 in Japan.
-
Hai? The number 4 is unlucky in Japan? That don't stop us from buying things labled 13.

Well, the kanji for 4 is the same Kanji used for Death. That's all.
-
One Piece: Volume DeathDeath.
Nice. XD
-
Well the kanji for '4' and the kanji for 'death' are both pronounced 'shi'. It's the pronunciation that's the same rather than the kanji.
-
Oh my god! I had drawn a handful of older OP villains as kids and was going to do CP9, but Oda went and did it for me!
I feel honored! (leave me alone in my cold, lonely world ^_^)
-
It's funny how Oda has given us so much extra information about CP9 as he has, compared to the other villains. We got a little backstory on Lucci and we know who Spandam's father was, and now we have babypictures and a photo of Kumandori's mom (Not that we can use the two last things to anything, but still).
It's so sad to leave them now, when we almost know them… and because they were awesome. -

Haha, not even bad numbers can stop One Pieces badass selling numbers.
-
With one day of official release, it topped the charts? Wow.
-
Something has me ever so slightly concerned.
That is, Oda pitching the next volume in preceding volumes. I mean, he can do whatever the hell he wants because he's the man (or the man) but it just kind of feels like an advertisement ie. wasted space in his otherwise useful SBS corners.
He did the same thing this volume talking about Luffy's dad being in the next volume and he also pulled this with Robin's past.
I dunno, with him doing it TWICE now it's kinda like…but Oda man, why?
-
I also highly approve of this thread. Viva le ridiculouso.
Been a year since I got any OP volumes. I pick them up as Asshatia in Chicago when I drive through to the east coast. They are always way behind in shipments so my last volume was #39 or 40. This year will be a fabulous wealth of love manga from oda.His choice of fan art and questions rock. Denouncers are cocks. He has so much fun with it. The one ending of the show with the fan art gallery should have been used forever.
-
Any scans around?…i'm looking forward for the SBS
-
Picked this up today, will have SBS and all that good stuff this Friday, barring any catastrophic calamity.
-
Stephen already has.

I definitly cannot read any of that, but would like to. Oda was drawing kinda crappy there :P XD

Asashiya is closed, but a new bookstore went into the same market place called sanseido bookstore.
Anyway when does 45 come out? Sometime in early feb?
-
Most likely it would come out in late Jan.-early Feb.
-
Please let there be good SBS questions that are important though. This volumes' SBS didn't say anything important really. Is he purposely trying to get silly questions to avoid answering important questions to the plot? Or is he just waiting until the yellow data book?
-
Yes, where are the SBS's at? I'm interested in reading them.

I also would really to read them too!
-
You find them on stephen's site, at the end of every chapter of volume 44 that have SBS.
-
Hopefully he won't mind me linking them here; don't see why he would, as he links to his site in his profile:
http://www.mangascreener.com/stephen/onepiece/onepiece.html
Here you can find all of stephen's chapter translations - the SBS found in each volume can be found at the end of the volume's chapters.
-
Aokiji looks funny in that pic.
Edit: D'oh Silence beat me to linking Stephen's website.
-
Why is it we are all obssessed with the SBS????
-
Because it's usually 1) fun and wacky and 2) sometimes slips very useful understanding-of-the-story points in.
-
D: Oda-sensei!! I have a serious question. Will you ever draw Luffy's parents?
P.N. Mr. Uni, Age 16
O: His parents? Well, I think you will be pleased with the next volume. Get excited! From Stephen's site. ^
Ghahah, he's right. I wonder if there is still time to show a mother in the next volume.
-
this is an interesting thing I just noticed but Oda seems to be on the same schedule as Jojo creator Hirohiko Araki
since Araki is at 20 years for JJBA and 90 volumes
Oda is at 10 and 44 - 45 (not in print)
interesting maybe its just how WSJ works

Isn't it because Dragon appears (Luffy's father). If Luffy's mother appears, she'll be a side drawing.
-
@ Angel emfrbl
Yes, it's because Dragon appears, but it would be intersting if he shows Luffy's mom also. Heh.
