I was reading everyone posts and I felt like posting my opinion about this arc too, whether anyone cared or not!
Note: This is all my opinion, none of of it is based on fact, and as such everyone's welcome to give their opinion about it…although I doubt I needed to tell anyone that.
First off I think the ending to this fight was awesome, and it's always fun to see a villian's face get bashed in.
As for fights overall, I think that's Nami's was the worst fight in this arc, part of that is my bais against Nami, because she's my least favorite Strawhat, and the part was that the fight was 90% Perfect Climatact 10% Nami, 80-20 tops, and that's only because of the mist move, which I think was unnesscary. Now I know someones going to say, "But Nami was wielding the weapon, and she had to use her intellect to win." To this I say, if I had the Climatact I could've won that battle. Why you may ask? For two reasons: One because only a slight thought process was needed to win and two because Kalifa was being a fucking idiot. As soon as the DF power was revealed to be Soap, I thought "Doesn't soap wash off water…doesn't the climatact have the ability to produce rain...aw crap I know how this is going to go." Sure enough, Nami uses her rain producing ability to wash away the soap. Now at this point I would've having lighting come down on the room, and be damned if I got hit, I got hit and seemed to come out unscatched, might as well go for it again and hit Kalifa with something real hard when she's stunned, which brings me to my next point and something else I was wondering about, namely why Kalifa's an idiot, and why does Nami never get seriously hurt? Ok here's why Kalifa's an idiot, she could of ended the fight in five seconds. She could of easily Shiganed Nami into Swiss Cheese and yet she choose instead to give us some puesdo-lesiban fanservice instead by rubbing her all over the place. In the end, she doesn't even end up hurting Nami in any serious way, which makes me wonder if there's some sort of law banning the harming of Nami. I mean the most damage she's taken in a fight is the equalient of stepping on a nail, which I've done and didn't make a big deal about, but she makes Zoro carry her around. Just once I want to see her take a lick or two in a fight so I know it's serious.
As for the whole Usopp thing, I'm glad he got to do what he got to do. That being said I'm sad he didn't get to seriously fight someone for more than one panel. I wasn't angry when Sanji took over though, because he deserved a good fight other than Bon Clay, but I was sad that Sanji and Usopp had this converstation:
Sanji: You're weak, but you can do other things, so go do them, and leave the awesomeness to me.
Usopp: Ok.
As I thought about my happiness over Sanji finally getting another decent fight and my saddnes that Usopp wasn't getting a fight I realized something, Zoro doesn't deserve a fight. He's had a fight in every single arc, I don't care if he's the second strongest (well actually that's debateable) and he wants to be the strongest swordsman, he doesn't need a fight in every arc! Especially if they keep going like this:
Zoro: Crap, I can't seem to harm him.
Zoro's Enemy: Haha Zoro take this!
(Zoro gets heavily injured, which doesn't seem to phase him at all)
Zoro's Enemy: Now to finish you!
Zoro: Not if I do this! SUPER COOL MOVE OF DOOM!
Zoro's Enemy: OH NO I AM DEFEATED!
(Zoro's Enemy collapses)
My point is Zoro fights are becoming bland to me, and I will soon stop caring about them if they continue like this. Now that isn't to say I hate Zoro, far from it, but he fights are leaving me with something to be desired. Now I think Usopp vs. Kaku would of been awesome. Think about it, Usopp pissed off at him for destorying the Going Merry (and I don't care that it wasn't good anymore, he loved that thing), and I think he could won through determention, craftiness, and some sneaky Usopp tactics. Hell I've already imagined the fight in my head and let my tell you it's fucking awesome...to me anyways.
Overall though I still think this chapter is totally awesome and can't wait to see what happens next.
