Oh, I'm sorry, you were trying to be clever. Sorry to mess that up for you.

When I made my list last page, I based it off the standard types usually shown in Shonen. I believe that all the dragon slayer magics have to be based on things that exist naturally. But then, I'm not the Mangaka of Fairy Tail am I?
But does Steel really exist naturally? Didn't Gazelle have to eat scraps of man-made metal and tiles? Sure, you could just eat iron ore, but it seems that it doesn't really matter, so you could eat man-made things.
there's nothing saying that Gazelle cant eat and powerup from the rawmaterials. (and isnt he the Iron dragonslayer?)
as i understood it though you said a weapon dragon slayer would be able to eat any weapon and only weapons. which means that if he eats rawmaterials nothing happens?
I suppose so, yes. That's what would make it interesting.
And I said that Gazelle could eat raw iron ore, but I was just saying that he was only seen eating man-made things.
Sorry, I must not have gotten your point.
If there was a point, what is it? =S
Technically a weapon dragonslayer would only be able to eat working weapons, right? Since it wouldn't be a weapon, it would just be some useless junk.
If it's broken or disassembeled he can't eat it, and if he ties a stone to a stick with a piece of strong he suddenly can. And since the weapons will become useless after he eats one bit of them he can only take one bite.
Eating an element makes more sense to me then beeing able to eat whatever as long as it's put together in a certain configuration.
No DARK dragonslayer please. Lightning, fire, steel, water, wood, earth, and air would be best.
Awesome chapter, Makarov balling at the end about getting arrested was pretty hilarious.

air would be hax
insta-healing evrywhere
if not fairy tail turns into a weird space story
Dur that would be the point.
Natsu would be overpowered by an Air Dragonslayer. Fire needs the air, take away the air, and Natsu's f'd. Air would be his natural enemy. Air makes more sense then Wind too.
Air makes less sense then wind imo…
So, how exactly do you eat the wind? It's moving air.
How do you eat flames? Obviously the dragonslayer would be taught secret techniques by the dragon on how to eat wind, Similar to those Natsu learned.
besides, if you ate air… wouldn't you suffocate? I mean i can't breathe a chicken, why should he be able to breathe his food? =S
[hide]Just want to point out I'm beeing very silly, don't take me completly serious. But I still seriously think wind makes more sense then air.[/hide]

Why not? I can picture a Dark Dragon slayer from a Dark Guild, some where down the line in this manga.
If there was a Dark Dragon-Slayer and they were "evil", then wouldn't just swallowing their own saliva count as eating darkness because of their intentions? I mean, you can't just eat a shadow or bite at night-time air.
But a Dark Dragon-Slayer would be extremely cool, and I support that.
ID: dragonslayers can't eat anything they themselves produce.
They can't eat anything that they produce with their magic. I doubt he's using swallowing magic. Now, if he makes like some kind of darkness laser or something, yeah, he couldn't eat that, but I'm saying if he's evil, he himself would be "darkness".

Gecko Moria can steal shadows, so why should it be impossible for a MAGICIAN to eat shadows? :P

Because One Piece and Fairy Tail are different mangas?
@Impel:

^ This statement is totally besides the point.
Beside the point that they're different mangas or beside the point that they can't eat shadows?
@Impel:

My point was simple. Things made by mangakas don't have to make sense the whole time.
Besides, is not there already a Shadow Magician (who ironically is called Kage)? I think that if shadows in fairy tail can't regenerate after being chomped by a "Dark" Dragon Slayer, then there's still the chance of Dark Dragon Slayers feeding off the magic of magicians with shadow/dark based spells just like Natsu sometimes feeds off the magic made by others.
Can we stop arguing about THE PENIS SUSHI KUNG FU ELEMENT DRAGON SLAYER.
Yeah, let's talk about the Gandalf Guy…..
Do you think he is part of the council or actually the strongest of the ten holy great wizards? I mean, we didn't even saw him back in the chapter where Sieglein mocked the old folks about the thing of him being both young and powerful.
Who the fuck are you talking about.
I'm guessing he just picked whoever in the Council sits in the center and talks, but I have no desire to discuss a character who's had no name, not shown to have exceptional power, or even contribute anything other than saying FAKE PRISON OKAY BYE THX
@Really:
Who the fuck are you talking about.
I think he is talking about the guy at the top.

@Really:

Well, the guy who resembles Gandalf. He was among the wizards judging Erza's "crime" back at the end of the death flute arc…
!
I just call him Gandalf because, you know, he looks like the archetypical wizard of folklore….
I just got interested in him because:
A) Like I said, he was nowhere to be found when the council was first introduced.
B) Well, it's very cliche of Manga to never completely show the characters that may be important in the future...
C) I just like his design, so don't take seriously the later reasons.
Kind of a lame chapter this week, but I guess it was needed.
Best part was Lluvia stalking Gray, lol.
How did you go from Jubia to Lluvia.
Anyway, pretty good chapter. Wonder's what's gonna happen with Lucy and her mom.
This chapter was kinda of a trun off, but the Magic Council Rune Knights where cool.
i have to agree, this chapter was rather boring…
Did you guys honestly expect this chapter to be action packed? The major arc is over. It's time to wind down and gather up energy for the next arc.
Besides, the chapter wasn't that boring. We got to see a bit of added humour with Jubia/Lluvia giving Gray a bento lunchbox of love (possible future member of Fairy Tail?) and a pretty powerful moment in Lucy's flashback showing what a complete bastard her father is. The final revelation with Lucy going back home was a shocker even though Fairy Tail never minded that Lucy's father was the one who hired Phantom to go after her and take out the guild in the process. If anything, this chapter was a win for the fact that many great things were happening in this chapter as well as giving Lucy's character further development.
You can't expect every chapter in an action manga to have characters kick ass. Fairy Tail shouldn't be an exception.
Oh, god. I didn't even think that my creepy assumption of Lucy's mom being dead could become true. I mean, she probably got traumatized and began to write to her dead mom out of desperation.
Did anyone else think Lucy's flashback was kind of retarded? I mean, judging by how she was willing to jump out of a tower just to escape from her Dad, you'd think he was some horrible beast of a man, who eats babies by the hand full. But it was just because daddy didn't give her any attention? I'm hoping theres more to it than that.
Also, Lucy's mom is pretty obviously dead.

It's not just that he didn't pay attention to her, he was a huge jackass about it.

Yeah. I tought he did something like separating Lucy from her first "Contract SS buddy" or even being involved in something like the suicide of Lucy's mom.
Well obviously there more to it, were just starting a new arc after all. This is just an example.
Lucy was one ugly girl, tough. I think her design rivals that of the creepy kids that tried to convince Zoro's teacher to train them to become Pirates….

Good thing FH spiced it up with a double-u tee eff.

I'm gonna pretend I didn't just read that…

I agree, but the reason why it was kinda a trun off me is because, I was expecting to see what the World/Magic Conucil thought about the fight, but seeing how it was stated that the verdict on Fariy Tail, is going to be decided by the Magic Conucil later, it kinda made me feel good, Mashima must have somthing big planed out for that.
I didn't really think that they'd actually have the Counsel involve themselves in Fairy Tail, but I guess they took serious action this time. At least they didn't have anyone act like an asshole and just attack random Knights.
Chapter was a HUGE improvement over last weeks.
You didn't like Fairy Law making Jose wide eyed and beaten or Natsu and Gazille's little conversation?
I didn't like the "We share pain, tears, happiness, smiles blah blah" That's been done to death and back already in everything other shounen.
That left the biggest impression on me from last week.
Ah okay then, I could see why you wouldn't like it. That did take up a good deal of the chapter.
About this latest chapter though, you think Lucy would have figured out after this whole ordeal with Phantom Lord that they don't care what kind of danger occurs. Since she's part of Fairy Tail, she doesn't have to worry alone, which was exactly what Makarov said last chapter.
I also liked the letters to her mother she never sent. Foreshadows a potentially interesting back story.
but yea, if it wasn't for Marakov making me laugh on the last page last week, I probably would have stopped.
but no goddammit, fairy tail remains as one of the only mangas I actually find to be funny.
I think the difference between the whole "my pain is your pain" lesson in Fairy Tail aside from other manga is that the main or supporting character in other manga tend to take the lesson to heart and feel much better about it afterwards for the rest of the series. Here, Lucy still thinks that it's her fault that everything went to shit the way they did and despite Makarov's message, she's going home anyway. So, in a way, Lucy is like whatever and decided, for the sake of her friends at Fairy Tail, she'll go home.
It's nice to see Mashima putting a new spin on an otherwise tired cliche.

That "new spin" is just another cliché though :D
