Has anybody seen ANY sub at all yet? I don't need some fancy smancy karaoke opening or whatever, just something with readable, coherent subtitles.

I just searched youtube for you cause if a sub was out it would be on there awfully fast and I found nothing beyond the promo subbed.

youtube not being the fastest way to know if an anime is subbed (well, everybody knows that), the right answer is: no there isn't any subbed version of the ep yet. XD

I dunno, theres plenty of people out there with nothing better to do then check everywhere every second and first traces of a sub they split up and slap on there.

yeah… and don't you think that it's faster to check if the subs are out instead of checking if people:
1)checked if the sub was out
2)downloaded the sub
3)cut the file
4)uploaded the files?

! Not really. It is just Light being crazy from a different angle. Cause the ending does a bunch of that. I am sure we will see another opening and ending (at least video wise) for Mello and Near's part.
The anime may or may not cover the manga's second arc, especially if the anime only consists of 37 episodes. Took 1 episode to cover Chapter 1 alone.
That, and Cyringohn would be most pleased if the anime ended after the first arc. Mmmmmm. <ß

You forget the the first chapter is 2 and a half times the size of a normal DN chapter. If they average about 3 chapters an episode, they'll cover the entire series easy.

I'd really like to see some proof of these "episode #s" I don't think anyone really knows.
I'd definitely like to see second arc animated, and I think they wilst.

Not officially. Most people basically assumed there would be 26 episodes, and that it couldn't possibly be any longer.

You forget the the first chapter is 2 and a half times the size of a normal DN chapter. If they average about 3 chapters an episode, they'll cover the entire series easy.
You must consider also consider the fact that not every episode can smoothly cover 3 chapters, dramatic scenes will likely be extended beyond what the manga originally displayed, etc. With all those things added, wouldn't be surprising if they managed to extend 57-58 chapters into 37 episodes.
Besides, Gohn would rather not see the crap that is the end of the 2nd Arc.

I didn't find the second arc at all crappy. Not nearly as good as part one, but certainly not crap.

Agreed, I'm dieing to see the ending animated. I found the end to be fantastic from a psychological standpoint, even if it's had flaws.

And as for subbing, I bet it's a lot to translate, so I won't be surprised that it hasn't come out yet…

did the anime steal the matrix's soundtrack? i mean during some moments i could definitely see influences or something like that. Anyway, yeah, with a shit load of dialogue like that, we'll have to wait a bit

Please take note of how Gohn specifically stated "the end of the 2nd Arc." Gohn loved it, in general. The ending was very displeasing, is all.

THE THIRD PERSON IS ALWAYS COOL!! as are all caps, but i digress…
I never really wanted to read the series after the first arc but i guess i will be able to see it now which in a way is better but then again, it doesnt really matter in this series seeing as it is basically ALL dialogue

I say the ending was fantastic too. I thought the thing where Matsuda and whatshisface talked was appropriate enough since Matsuda was the one that liked Light/Kira the most (the naive) and that the other guy suspected Light/Kira the most. It wasn't that good, but I still thought it was pretty good.

The fact that Death Note's editors purposefully directed the series in a direction that highlighted Light's failure, in an attempt to demonstrate an "Evil Never Triumphs, Kids." theme, ruins the ending completely.
Light dying? Fine. Gohn hates it, but fine. Light dying to Near? Who went on nothing but pure hunches? Absolutely not.

! I believe someone is forgetting that L's working on pretty much complete hunches backed by little evidence. Near's advantage in the series was more coming up with scenarios than anything, and although I didn't like the bit where he selected Mikami out of the crowd, he played his cards correctly too.
! On that note, you knew that Light was gonna die since Chapter 1. That or it would've been just like 1984. -

37 episodes, eh? Well, either they're treating the second arc as a separate series, or they're just going to burn through the chapters at the same rate Pierrot did with Bleach. Either way, I'm sure the entire manga series will get animated; they wouldn't just flush away an opportunity like that.

Just watched the first episode and it was really good. The opening and ending were awesome and some of the scenes were really cool. My favorite scene in the first episode was were Light was stroking his pen and the people were dying

A catchy song.
The adaptation is pretty cool. The dark colour scheme and the whole mood fit quite well together with the story. Still, I haven't even yet finished the first part of the comic so, uh, I'm not that interested.
