No shit, Sherlock.
Say it ain't so! Oda Fallen Ill?
-
No shit, Sherlock.
-
Ah ha. That's weird. I'm sick too, heh heh. It must be the beginning of spring fevers since spring started not too long ago.
-
I suppose that's one way to look at it. It's not uncommon to fall ill when the seasons (and the temperatures) change.

Agreed. I got sick just last week.
-
-
So no 406 is week…?
-
My god, verbatim, your avatar is freaking me out. Please change it!
-
I really hope he gets better ;_;
I hope he didn't suffer something bad because he saw the dub =/ -
Get well soon Oda-sama. Hope it's nothing serious.
-
Oh my God…|||>^<bbb<br>I think we should concern about his illness more than just hoping to see the new chapter.Wish he gets better soon.
I was frightened by what Satsuki said(Q0Q)... ...</bbb<br>
-
something snaps IT IS NOT A APRIL FOOLS JOKE!!! ARE YOU THAT DENSE?! YOU DON'T MAKE THESE KINDA JOKES ABOUT SOMEONE BEING ILL AND CERTAINLY NOT A GOOD MAN LIKE ODA-SENSEI!!!!!
pants and brushes hair back Sorry bout that. Anyone want something to drink?
-
I just thought of that …could it be called (急)病(which is disease) if Oda just broke his arm(s),or any other part of his body that makes him unable to draw?
Isn't that called 事故(accident)?(not sure of Japanese, though)
It will be better if things really goes like that, cause we can be sure Luffy will be back in a period of time instead of disappearing forever.
I don't think Oda-san will stop publishing op so easily just because of a flu.My tears came out just now... ...
(Did you really say that from the bottom of your heart?Upstairs... ...0-0)

So no 406 is week…?
I am thankful that no one has gone "OMG teh man is sick!" to this, yet. I do hope he gets better, but I don't get why this week wouldn't have a chapter.

Well maybe he got sick 3 weeks ago? :&

wasn't it planified last week that we wouldn't have a chapter this week? that's what i understood at least…
-
Is oda the one that writes in that little screenshotted section, or did the magazine publishers write it?
-

The issue this week is no18. In the announcement, it refers to no19 (the date backs this up). While I'm not totally sure, this alludes the notion that there will be a chapter this week
-
Having recently had to put up with the trials of Raiku-sensei when he hurt his hand (though it sounds like Toei wanted to end the Gash anime regardless of whether they would catch up or not since the card game was dwindling in sales…and I really don't want to talk about that anime ending for the moment) and hearing about the whole situation with Togashi-sensei, I really, really hope this is merely a temporary setback for Oda-sensei and for One Piece. I think we can easily give him a few weeks off to recooperate, but I hope he's not away for too long or else I'll worry about what he really has.
(wishes the Jump site had something similar to the Shonen Sunday site where the authors have small blogs they update occasionally...though a couple have been going weekly)
-
@joekido:
I agree, Oda's been doing new chapters without a break and he was planning on chapter 406 this week but he got sick or overworked. Did Oda not care for his body? It sound like Oda is in a rush and not watching his health.
It's time for Oda to care for himself and rest and take a break and not push himself
Get better soon Oda
See, here's what I think: i think oda would, on his own, just work through it. But he has a wife now. This is not to stir up ill feeling towards her, it's just that I think it's likely she worries about his health more than he does, and she's probably right.
-
I think it's serious, because we have, or at least I have never seen SJ saying that Oda is sick for the almost 3 years I have been following One Piece online, and he sure must have gotten sick sometime in those 3 years and before, but he probably still worked, he has a very important dead line. So if he is unable to work now, it can't just be because of a normal sickness…
-
I hope it's not serious, and he will be on his foot very soon.
Perhaps we can do a BIG mail for him or something like that for him.
-
I think that if it was serious, Oda would tell us in his manga, sort of like how the hunter x hunter mangaka made a page in one of his chapters telling everyone he had his baby.
That's why I'm interested to know whether the publishers of the magazine are saying Oda is ill, or if Oda penned that little screenshotted spot himself.
Is Oda saying, "I'm ill, so the publication of one piece is being halted" or is it just the publishers saying it. If it's just the publishers than it's almost certainly temporary, Oda loves his fans and he wouldn't leave us without a personal goodbye.
-
This thread is half full of silly stuff such as speculations about what he might has, apocalyptic views about the end of One Piece and theories about all of it being a April Fools joke. Now if just somebody would throw in a conspiracy theory about Oda being taken care off to not finish a story that makes the government appear like tyrants then I think this thread would be completed.
However if somebody here would really organize a "get well soon" message which could be sent to him then I would like to send him some nice words too even if he couldn´t understand them.
-
Thank you, Ivotas. I believe someone else mentioned doing this earlier, and it would be a good gesture (even if, as said, he wouldn't understand it; at least he'd know someone cares, right? XD ).
-
Well, one thing's for sure:
If Luffy finds One Piece this week, we'll know it's serious. :-)
-
Instead of writing to him in English maybe we should just draw him something that gives the get well soon message so that he understands and sees that we care?
-

LOL … first truly funny line in this thread. I beleive that it is very uncommon for Japanese to give details of any illness, so it's likely that we'll never know the cause unless Oda himself decides to release something. All we can offer are well wishes and patience.
-
It doesn´t matter if it would be a letter or a drawing with the simple message "get well soon" or something like that. Just something that shows we care.
The only problem would be to get the amount of us fans who are involved across. Since we are all scattered around the world it isn´t as simple as signing a piece of paper. I have no idea how a task like that could be accomplished.
But it would really be cool if that could be done. I mean Oda knows he has a lot of fans, but getting such a thing from international fans just has some special touch to it. At least I think so.
-
I liked the mail idea but I think its so impossible.. ne? ;_;
hm..I think Oda knows a bit english..he writes in english sometimes in his illustrations and manga. (such as places names and such) .-.
um XD I'm ready to draw if that's needed. >D
-
I liked the mail idea but I think its so impossible.. ne? ;_;
The only thing that would be impossible is to somehow show how many of us would be involved with this. I don´t think it is a problem to send a letter to him. Heck, I would do that if I could speak japanese and now where to send it. But how should I inlcude everyone´s best wishes in a way that Oda sees that I didn´t do them myself?
I´m so bad with ideas.
-
Really, I don't think the anime is gonna have a problem, we have more in the manga then you think.
-
The arrival to Enies Lobby by crashing through the gate.
-
The Big (and in my opinion, dragged out) battle royal inside Enies Lobby.
-
The Strawhats finally reaching the tower and confronting CP9 with Robin.
-
Robin's flashback leading up to her plee to wanna live.
-
The crash into the Tower will the fights up until this point happen.
The is bound to take the anime quite a bit to get up to I would hope, so I don't think Oda is hurting THAT MUCH for time.
-
-
Well , if someone could get the SBS address couldn't we just individually mail "get well soon"s there?
-

Well, Oda doesn't speak a word of english. I'm sure his assistances know some but you can't be too sure.
-
Use Paintchat. Doodle your messages, or sign your name, and someone could print it out and mail it to him.
-

One massive e-card or something, maybe?
Though I somehow feel he may be fine by the time we actually get something to him, it is a good idea. XD
I'm all for drawing something, too, if need be (I keep getting this pic in my mind of a sick Luffy with his crew around him… cheesy, yeah... >_> ).
-
If I could send him a card I'd draw Chopper looking through his backpack. Makes perfect sense.
-
I think it says something truly remarkable that he has earned the sympathy and concern of hundreds of people here, people he's never met and likely never will.
That concept alone is worth sharing.
-
Hmm, I really tried to think of something good how the contributions of everybody could get over but the only solution I came up with really isn´t that good, because I doubt that everybody might be able or willing to do it.
But just in case it might be a proper inspiration to some really good idea I´ll share it here anyways instead of keeping it to myself. Here´s the deal.1. We need somebody fluent in japanese who´s willing to help here.
2. He/she shows us how who don´t speak japanese how to write "Get well soon Oda-san" or something like that.
3. Everyone who wants to participate writes that message on a big piece of paper.
4. Every person takes a picture of him/herself holding that message in his/her hand.
5. Send the pictures to somebody who can print them out for very low costs but in good quality.
Ok that´s the basic steps. Now for how the final product that is about to be sent should look like. I think it would look awesomely cool to have the pictures printed out on a large paper roll. Every picture would come with a discription about who the photo shows. For instance (the italics is what should be in japanese):
Nickname: Ivotas
From Frankfurt Germany
[Then the photo of myself where I hold the "Get well soon" message in my hands]
Nickname: ….
and so on and so on.
On that role we would just have these kind of images. Of course in order that Oda understands who we are there should be a letter included with that roll in which it is explained that we are an online community of One Piece fans and that we really wish Oda the best and stuff like that.
Well yeah, I told you it´s not the best idea. Not everybody would be willing to share his/her picture here. Also there is the problem as how to print everything out on one roll without paying some good money. Sorry, I never said the idea is flawless. It´s just the only thing I could come up with. I´m sure though that if such a thing could be done Oda would surely love it.
-
Count me in. Just let the person responsible for the printing have a PayPal account ^^
-
count me in too.. ^^.. i really want him to get well soon…
-
I want to get in too. :P Already know how I will take my picture…
-
You are great Ivotas ^^ !! Very nice idea. I like it. Just imagine Odas face when he gets this stuff.. omg. I could imagine that he'll post something about us in a future SBS XD.. (or am I only dreaming? O.o") Who knows.
But it's a very fantastic idea of yours, Ivotas ^^ -
Plus with us all showing how much we care that should spurr him on to continue the wonderful story that is one piece and try his best (not that he doesn't already) to continue producing wonderfu work.
-
that's not that bad of an idea Ivotas, i wish i could help, i am taking japanese 102 right now, but i don't really know how to say what we would need to say :( i hope Oda-sensei recovers soon…
-

Glad you saw this thread, hon, I was about to call you and tell you the bad news.
Ditto on the Japanese class, but… I am pretty good friends with my Japanese Culture professor, so I might be able to ask her how to write it. She likes One Piece, too, so she might help out with this project.
-
Count me in too XD but I hate cameras =_=;;
;P I'll draw Self Portraite instead XDD
-
There are many ways of wishing good health on someone, but personally I'm all for using ''お大事に''. Why? Because it romanizes as ''Odaiji ni'' and we could make a delicious pun out of that.
.<
-
I think, if we do that. We should all write "Get well soon" in our own language. So Oda sees in how many countrys we care about his health.
Anyway. Very nice idea of you Ivotas. Maybe he will really write in this Forum. That would be awesome.
Gute Besserung Oda^^
-
wow… nice idea there... get well in our own language... ^^
so he know... he is well known in many places.. that could cheer him up.. -
Well if we need to chip in money i'm out….and I gots no pictures. I could draw something I guess....
