@TLC:
I still can't believe that was going to be a thing. What the hell? Even in the movies, she was a background character.
Whatever it was going to be couldn't be as bad as what marvel themselves did ten years ago

Hire Donald Glover.
I rather they actually get someone whose actually in Mile's age range than someone whose much older than the character they're playing just like they did with Maguire and Garfield.
Or the Punisher.
I think the Punisher may have exceeded the three knockdown rule:ninja:
Didnt he also end the Avengers series that was pretty awesome,to start this new awful one, along with the agents of Smash, etc?
More so the fault of the movie than Loeb outright balking at a third season just cause.
I hope this isn't some kind of movement, I really hope its Peter Parker not Miles taking part in any avengers movie, I wouldn't mind having Miles actually be part of a movie with Peter Parker and use both later but rigth now let Peter be the Spiderman.

Ugh, another high school Spider-Man.
Unless it's Miles, that'd be something different.
I'm okay with high school spiderman if they actually get someone IN HIGH SCHOOL. Age 12-16.
Trying to pretend someone in their late 20's is passing off as 17 is just weird… not to mention the time it takes to make these films means they've aged 6-8 years before a trilogy can be done.
And skip the damn origin. We know it. Just hit the ground running, like the Spectacular Spiderman cartoon did. You can do villain origins from scratch, but... even that isn't really necessary. Just assume everyone knows the characters and go with it... the same way the comics have had to do for most of the last 5 decades.

I've never understood why they continuously keep Peter Parker at a high-school level in the films (like in the Raimi/Webb Series), rather than the far better concept of Peter attending a Community/Junior College or nearby University.
It would be a much easier break, casting-wise.

The younger the actor, the longer he can continue to play the character.

I'm pretty sure Toby was in college by the second Raimi one.

Damn since when have we've had 12 and 13 year olds attending high school?
Great another reboot. That..wonderful =P
I'm sorry I'm just getting fatigued wiith this stuff by this point. So many Batmans and Supermans and Spider-Man. Then rebooting when the initial start doesn't fail to get a good response rather then, say, writing it better (seriously I saw the new FF trailer. It looks boring in my opinion). I'm ready to move on to other heroes. Guardians of the Galaxy was a step in the right direction and Marvel starting to dig more into the obscure basket. If they want younger why don't they do a Power Pack series? I loved their 2000's comics. Heck I'm surprised Disney hasn't noticed them yet.

Maybe that'll be Disney's next Marvel-but-not-MCU movie.

He was around 25 when they began work on the first actually. That's just how it works in ol' Hollywood.

I was just thinking of Miles who is actually much younger than Peter, who is age 12.
Obviously if they go the Peter route, the actor should be high school aged. Not college graduate.

For the younger audiences I think they will stick with animated movies like Big Hero 6.
They can use Power Pack, Alpha Flight, etc in this movies and the more mainstream heroes in the MCU.
Edit: Ups, didn't read y2kyle89 post.
Hopefully sooner or later we will get a Runaways movie.

I mean the character Toby played, Peter Parker, was in college by movie 2. Didn't they (Him, Harry, and MJ) graduate highschool in the first movie?

27 actually .
Very exciting news that Sony and Marvel are collaborating on Spidey. This was inevitably going to happen sooner or later given Sony's recent trajectory as a studio and with how they've handled Spidey as of late. We have the leak of the original negotiations to thank for this, because fans' response to that leak is what probably brought both sides back to the table.
I'm just glad to see Marvel and Sony work together and respecting each other to reach a common goal where both sides can win. (take note Fox)
Apparently, Sony is still moving forward with their spinoffs without Marvel and Kevin Feige. I don't get why they want to do those so soon. I hope Sony will at least wait and see where the new Spider-man ends up plot-wise before pursuing those.
Just heard about this a while ago and all I can say is….
I mean the character Toby played, Peter Parker, was in college by movie 2. Didn't they (Him, Harry, and MJ) graduate highschool in the first movie?
Yes, they show the graduation scene early to midway through Spiderman 1. I think Collage got mentioned but he wasn't shown going to it in the first movie. 2 had him actually go to college.
But yeah, the point stands. High School was only a thing for the first small chunk of that movie, he was College for the rest.
I'm hoping they take the route that the Incredible Hulk took; it would be nice if they just glossed over the origin story, as opposed to putting it on-screen for the third time.
Also, thinking about it, there are a lot of concepts in Spider-Man that could be tied into the existing Marvel Cinematic Universe - for example, the Goblin serum and the genetically-engineered spider that gives Peter Parker his powers (assuming they'd go with that instead of radioactive) could be attempts by Oscorp at replicating Captain America's Super Soldier Serum, and the Vulture's flight suit could be an alternative for the Falcon's gear which wasn't accepted by the military (possibly explaining why he turns to crime, if he poured all of his money into the concept and it was rejected).
The one Spider-Man villian I do want to see in the upcoming movie is The Scorpion.
Though obviously some character crossover is a good thing.
One in particular that I'd enjoy seeing.
!
Captain America: "So uhh…Spider-Man. Where were you while New York was under alien invasion and hundreds of people were being killed?"
Iron Man: "Don't ever do that again."
Spider-Man: "….."
Captain America: "Seriously though, where the hell were you!?"

I thought he was off marrying an plain looking fake redhead while essentially stepping on the heart of a far more attractive fake blonde:ninja:.

He should've stayed with the redhead because I heard he killed the blonde girl. Better a broken heart than a broken back. :ninja:

It's not the redhead's fault she got cut out the action but I guess it was for the best their relationship would've never worked out thanks to careers and other inexplicable things messing it all up:ninja:.

Yeah, let's face it for a moment..Miles Morales is only well known among fairly recent comic book fans, or people who like to keep up with what's going on. For at least 90% of the world, Spider-Man is Peter Parker. I want to see Peter, not a "stranger" interacting with Captain and everyone else. Marvel/Sony can't, and definitely won't, waste it.
Besides, i think neither Maguire or Garfield made the character justice. Well, they worked with what they had. But the third time is the charm.
Logan Lerman is rumored to be a strong contender. I kinda can see that, although he's 23 already.
I think Dylan O'Brien will be a better pick for the role though he is 23 as well.

And with this whole Battleworld crazyness, I'm sure Peter and Miles will exist in whatever new world is going to come out of this(and Spider Gwen also) so he will get more noticed from now on but I want Peter because hes the original.
I got no idea who that guy is but judging from his photos, i think he has the right look for Petey.

Ah right, makes sense.
27 actually .
27 when it came out certainly but I thought maybe production started a year or two earlier, just giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Peter would be no more familiar with Tony & Steve than Miles would be. Especially since they now have to tweak the universe to fit whoever they wind up using in with no prior build up. Not helping the situation is that we've already had two different spider-man series each one featuring Pete in a different universe and this current setup gives us a third that may or may not have ties to the second series which mucks the situation up one way or the other.
Garfield played a good Peter, just not convinced on his Spidey. I haven't seen the 2nd one, but I don't feel so inclined to after what most people are saying…
So let's have Garfield do Peter, and Donald Glover do Spidey just to make everyone happy :ninja:
Hmmm, I thought the general consensus was that Mcguire did a better job as Peter (minus the crying) and was pretty meh as Spiderman whereas Garfield was a decent Peter, but was a much better Spiderman in comparison.
The best Spider-man was actually J.K. Simmons.
Garfield was good as both. It was just the script that demanded he be kind of douchey.
McGuire was terrible at everything. In every role he's ever been in.
Well that goes without saying. If only we can have JK Simmons in the MCU….if only...
(and screw continuity or whatever bullshit arguments against the idea. JK Simmons must resume upholding the role he was born to play. Never has there been a more perfect match for a character...EVER!).

Never say never man.
It's like Judi Dench as M, screw continuity its just his/her role.
J.K. Simmons' return seems fairly likely. He already reprised his role in the Marvel produced Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.
I like how the Amazing Spider-man movies all but admitted that nothing would top J.K. Simmons as JJJ so they conspired to keep him offscreen throughout both films.

I admit to not having seen Amazing Spiderman yet hangs head but that's what I've heard. Garfield was good, but the script sucked. Or rather Peter sucked and only as Spidey did he really shine.

Maybe this is why I'm not excited about this deal, it didn't come in time to save Spectacular Spider-Man.

I don't see why he won't be. He is currently doing the voice for J.J.J in the animated Universe, i assume he will be back….

How could there be a general consensus if every opinion is subjective?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I want to see superior spiderman
I hope they don't show his origin again. Other than that, meh ok, did this scenario happened often in the comics?
How could there be a general consensus if every opinion is subjective?
Because it seems more of commonly shared opinion (it has nothing to do with subjectivity).

Reynolds posted a pic of himself with the Deadpool mask (alpha version I guess you could say)
Gina Carano and T.J. Miller have been cast in Deadpool. Colossus will also appear.
