Wait, hold up... this is haaaaaard. I gotta try this now
Movies that don't deserve their own thread

Oh yeah. RRR's a shit ton of fun. The story falters a bit in terms of character balance, and, personally, I think Bahubali is a better over-the-top action movie, but it's still great.
-
Just watched the 2021 version of Cyrano, starring Peter Dinklage.
That was fantastic.
It hit most of my buttons, but I don't know that it would work for everyone.
-
I would think it would partly depend on if you like Cyrano the story period. If that person knows what Cyrano is in the first place.
-
You guys got to watch 13 Lives on Amazon Prime, absolutely spectacular, the true story about the rescue of those 13 kids who we’re trapped in the cave, amazing
-
Another movie to see is RRR
it's on Netflix, definitely a must see
-
This is semi-autobiographical at most (pretty sure he never dated Madonna), but who cares? It's Weird Al.
And man, they cast Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento.
-
A Gothic detective movie with Christian Bale and a young Edgar Allen Poe? I'll take it.

I’m bummed I didn’t catch this in theaters, and I’m also bummed I didn’t watch it in its native language, but I finally gave RRR a chance on Netflix after Pitch Meeting made a video of it. Such a fun movie. Gotta give more Indian movies a chance, especially those made by that director.
-
How long until Disney realizes they have the rights to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and tries to reboot it
-
@Shiebs It's been in development since 2018. With a diverse cast and all that. But it's recently been put on hold indefinitely.
-
Tried out Top Gun and it felt empty. Very one dimensional. Then tried out Maverick and it had a little bit more heart than the first one. Leaned in heavy on nostalgia.
Nope was cool. Not a top 5 of the year, but it was decent. Missed opportunities here and there, but I liked the performances.
I was hesitant to watch Black Phone and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Just not something I would rewatch. Weird part is that I love horror manga, but I abhor horror in film. All of my friends love it. I expect it to scare me and it doesn't. To add on to all that, the stories are generally weak.
I used to be a romantic comedy junkie, but the last 5 years have been a drought mostly. I watched Spin Me Round and I question why there aren't a ton more like it. I loved the humor and the concept was so cute to begin with.
Once I finish Shrink Next Door, i'll get to RRR.
-
@Shiebs Np, I only heard about it recently, lol. Hopefully a continuation instead of reboot, though. Especially since the original ending opened the possibilities with multiple Slayers.
-
Just watched Do Revenge, a generally well-made Netflix film starring Maya Hawke and Camilla Mendes. The first 2/3 of it is a very fun send-up of movies like John Tucker Must Die or Cruel Intentions, but there's a vicious twist late in the movie that's initially excellent but sends the movie careening to recover from. The last quarter involved a lot of hasty, unjustified character development and convenient actions and it's unfortunately apparent how much the writers were struggling to resolve everything. A real shame, since the rest of the movie was pretty good.
-
@Razh true true, I’d love to see what threats they’d come up with for an army of Slayers
Also if the show gets a Disney Plus budget that would be great as well
-
Is anyone looking forward to the new Borderlands movie? or do we just assume as a video game movie it will be bad
-
Uncle Fester is here . . .
-
This is looking good:
-
Watched the Weird Al movie. That... kind of sucked.
I went in knowing they were going to mock the standard biopic format but they played it really really straight. Yeah there's a little humor to be had by replacing key words with "accordian" or "polka party" but they overall... just played it too straight. And it's that one joke stretched for two hours.
When your entire premise is "these musical biopics are boring and tedious" and you then... follow that formula EXACTLY you end up with... a boring and tedious movie. They started exaggerating things more very late in the film like saying Michael Jackson ripped Al off, and that he had a torrid affair with Madonna... and the last 10 minutes get really bonkers and dumb because at THAT point they start doing crazy wacky things... but its two hours in and there's just no energy to it by that point... so the whacky is there at the end but not in a good way. Suppodely earlier drafts of this thing were going to involve timetravel and multiverses and... it should have had those things, and introduced them at like the 10 minute mark.
I was just hoping for something closer to UHF. Which was also dumb, but had heart and was super quotable and had something interesting happen every couple minutes.
This was funny as a five minute trailer but that was all it ever should have been if they weren't going to get really crazy with it.
-
@Cockycent Oh, I liked it. It was funny.
-
So cute. Robert Downy Jr is making a documentary about his dad, Robert Downey Sr, the filmmaker:
I don't think I've watched any of his movies.
-
I don't even know for sure if I'm gonna see this, but it has to be shared.
-
Did they just took a 5 minutes event that happened in real life and made into a motion picture? Because honestly, that's a genius move.
-
That movie looks like it's going to be amazing. Plus Character Actress Margo Martindale is going to be in this movie.
-
Wait do I actually care about Transformers again?
-
Ah, Beast Wars. The Transformers show I actually grew up with.
-
Little surprised no one posted this yet, but...well, I guess we're doing this again.
-
@Nobodyman said in Movies that don't deserve their own thread:
Ah, Beast Wars. The Transformers show I actually grew up with.
Same. I might actually give a shit about this movie.
-
Saw Bullet Train last night. I actually really enjoyed myself with it.
-
@Nobodyman to bad they white washed most of the cast, I’ve heard everyone is Japanese in the book, my dad said the book is far superior to the movie
-
@Shiebs said in Movies that don't deserve their own thread:
Wait do I actually care about Transformers again?
What are they disguised as animals when they clearly still look like robots? And none of the voices returning? Couldn't even get Scott McNeil to be half the cast?
I'm not impressed by the first trailer.
-
@Robby I don’t think Michael Bay is directing it so at least that’s a plus

There are years I wish I would keep track of what new movies (or at least new to me) I've watched bc it seems like a fun thing to do, but I always forget to keep track. Lol. It all becomes a blur at some point.
Of the ones I remember watching:
Sing 1 & 2- cute flicks
Hocus Pocus 2-i didn't like this one at all. Not good.
Disenchanted- a much better made-for-streaming sequel compared to Hocus pocus 2 imo, I really enjoyed it? A cute little movie.
Turning Red-gave middle school flashbacks lololol. Decent. Cute.
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story- funniest movie I've seen in ages.
Downton Abbey: A New Era-pretty on par with the first movie but I desperately wish they would have spent some of that money on better cinematography and location shots bc half the movie had some very beautiful looking locations that got wasted bc they weren't showing them off like they should have been.
The Automat (may have been a 2021? documentary, but idc it's new to me)-a documentary on the rise and fall of the automat-complete with a theme song performed by Mel Brooks.Disenchanted and the Weird Al movie were probably the highlight of my movie year, so yeah. Lol.
-
@QueenTangerine3 I use this website to keep track of all the movies I've seen https://www.icheckmovies.com/
Of course, there are probably similar websites out there.

When did Mel Brooks start making a History of the World Part II?!

@Nobodyman thnx for the link!!!
-
@Satsuki god bless Mel, he's 96 and still going.
-
It's hard to see if it will go well, even if it's Mel. Some of the stuff from Part I you would never be able to get away with now.
-
@Satsuki he'll figure out something. either way, i'll still watch it.
-
For anyone looking forward to the Borderlands movie
-
Dear, blessed, Mel Brooks you old mensch, I loved this:
-
The Asada, a Japanese film by Ryôta Nakano inspired from Masashi Asada a Japanese photographer has been shown in France since last week. I watched it yesterday and it is the feel good movie that everyone deserve to watch.
I haven't found a trailer with english subtitles but if you have the opportunity to watch it do not hesitate -
I think I see a singing Jack Black. Does that alone make it a must-see?
-
A movie centered on Churchill and Ian Fleming's secret WWII combat/spy group (real!) starring Henry Cavill? Yes, please!
https://collider.com/ministry-of-ungentlemanly-warfare-release-window/?utm_medium=Social-Distribution&utm_campaign=Echobox-CL&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR3dlNbq_AxcINRlUvd5n79jyY5uaEaPVzxo4KaJk37QjopH8UPf7uDgf9Y#Echobox=1676314930Depending on how close to history they keep this, we just might see Roald Dahl in this movie too.
-
I figure I post this here. Here's the trailer for No Hard Feelings. From the trailer alone, it gives me 80's R comedies vibes. I hope this movie ends up being good.
-
Like someone tweeted, it's a "oh, we are going into economic Recession" type of comedy. I'm kinda glad it's back! they are fun to watch on a lazy sunday.
