@Kaido:
Why would Sanji fight the runt of the Flying Six whom he trounced earlier in the arc?
Not much of a fight seeing how outclassed pay pay was.
But pay might be wanting to redeem himself from his shaming

Yamato thinking she is oden could be the reason why she won't join the crew. If he considers momonosuke his son, he would want to stay in wano with momo and hyiori and protect wano, not abandon them… or is that exactly what oden do.
We've known that since the start, though. Yamato said "Oden was a man, right!? So I became a man" and the introduction box stated "Self proclaimed 'Kozuki Oden'".
That's why I am against people mistaking Yamato's depiction for that of a transgender character. So far, Yamato being a man was stated (not suggested, stated) merely as a consequence of their delusion of being Oden, not a matter of actual gender identity.
Once Yamato is over with this "I am Oden" stuff, the bit about being a man will be depicted in the same light as being Momo's father: at best, an eccentricity; at wort, an idiocy (in any case, nothing we should want to be confused with a trans character, but yet somehow people think not treating Yamato as such is being a transphobe).

Not really outclassed. It was just short and didn't really have an ending.
Even if we ignore the way the anime concluded their fight and go solely by the manga, all we saw was that both Sanji and P1 failed to cause any damage to each other, so where exactly people get this notion that Sanji "trounced him" (or even just "beat him", if anything the logical conclusion from what we saw is that ended in a draw)?

This chapter had my favorite Sanji moment in a long time. Giving Momo props for saying his name. Wholesome.
It may have been brief, but Page One seemed entirely hapless against Raid Suit Sanji. He had no way of tracking Sanji while invisible, got hit with powerful kicks multiple times because of this (with the last panel of their fight scene being him screaming), and the one hit he did get in on Sanji had little to no effect. To me it just clearly portrays that Sanji was by far the superior fighter, and the fact that Page One is back in action a week later doesn't really nullify that. In a climactic war like this Sanji will almost certainly be challenged by one of the bigger guns.
Pay pay was Chuck Wepner, Sanji was Ali.
I loved how she just thinks Momo as her son.
I'm sure that little perv is going to take advantage of this.

This is the entire fight:
That's it. The whole thing. Except for people being biased towards one side, I really don't see how anyone can read that fight and think any side was depicted as superior to the other, much less "by far".

Exactly.
We've not seen what he's really capable of yet. Neither was fighting at full capability…
@Johnny:
So, it seems that Yamato really thinks he is Kozuki Oden, not just his successor, or what have you, and as a coping mechanism for enduring growing up with a terrible father like Kaido.
Which means at the end of the arc, they have to find their own identity, and I estimate reclaim her true self, and will return to be thought of as a woman.
Yamato doesn't actually think he's Oden like some sort of delusion. He just wants to become him, but it's not there yet. That's why she needs to remind herself ,'Oh shit, right, Momo is my son, I should take care of him'.
Page One had to go hybrid to lend a hit who had zero effect on Sanji, while Sanji didn't use diable jambe one single time through the whole clash yet managed to make P1 scream of pain a few times. Idk how anyone can think P1 is a credible threat

He wasn't using diable jambe, but he was using his all new power up (the raid suit) - plus we can see haki effects on his kick. And P1 was in hybrid form, but just like Sanji he didn't used any named attack or anything like that. None of them were really showing their best game, even if both of them had their guns out.
And both of them came out of it without a scratch as far as we could see. So, all in all, Oda just depicted them as even (even if in a 100% I'm sure Sanji would win).

Except twist related to awakening Page One already showed his best forms during the fight (animal and hybrid)
while as readers we know for a fact that Sanji has more under his sleeve. I feel that if Oda
intended Page One to be Sanji "Big"fight in Onigashima he would have made him look way more dominant. Page One was to showcase ancient zoan physical thoughness.
Regardless of how you view the fight, I agree with the main point being made that I don't see Sanji having a rematch with him. One Piece doesn't normally (or ever?) bother to have rematches between characters where the first fight portrayed them as being more or less even. When it happens, it's typically because Luffy or whoever else was fighting came off as an underdog the first time around. Like Kaido vs. Luffy for example.
And outside of that, it's not like they have some kind of personal connection where it's begging for an opportunity to hash it all out.

How do we know for a fact that Sanji has more under his sleeve? Are you talking about "diable jambe"? You really think that would make a significant difference?

Because in shonen, the heroes always have something under their sleeve.
Honestly this just made Inu one of my least fav Scabbards. You can't just keep spouting NUH-UH HE'S NOT ON ZOU when it's become known he was very much there lol.

Okay and what would Sanji's be now that he just started using the "raid suit"? Is he going to go into "okama" mode?

Yup, it's the most basic rule of shounen ever lol
I love Paypay just like anyone else, but this is like expecting Blueno to be Sanji's main fight just because of an equal'ish clash 50 chapters ago.
He's also portrayed as the weakest of the Sixxers, which doesn't mean he's weak, but also not food for a Straw Hat top commander.
If we're expecting exciting fights (I think we all do at this point) then there always has to be a certain sense of hopelessness involved. A "how can X possibly overcome Y?"
This is usually achieved with a drastic difference in power and/or an outstanding ability that counters the protagonist.
And that said, Paypay is not out of Sanji's league and his abilities are straightforward. Powerful, but nothing Sanji couldn't handle. At least I wouldn't doubt the outcome for a second if he's pitted against him again.
I can see a Sanji vs Pageone rematch, but not as his main fight. Maybe he can be the Wanze.

Yeah, it's a weird comment. "We were lying all this time and it didn't work so you meanie destroyed the country!!!
I guess Oda couldn't help it, he had to remind his casual readers of their relationship. That's why it doesn't feel like a organic conversation. It's an info-dump.
This chapter is yet another that gives me vibes of Yamato not being entirely sincere about his motivations. Not long ago, he felt nervous about the offer to remove his cuffs, now he was hesitant about helping Momonosuke, then saying that line "he's my son" gave me the impression that it was a line to reassure himself, as if this Oden facade is something Yamato doesn't really believe but keep saying to get courage or something.
That would be too much like Viola or Pudding.
It really only seems like she has an identity disorder, which will be explored and probably fixed.

The absolute opposite.
Oden left his family in Wano while it was ruled by Orochi, just to party with Roger in Laugh Tale.

To be fair, noone on the enemy side besides BigMom and Kaido themselves and arguably King, had been depicted as truely formidable opponent.
Again and again and again, whenver anyone of them is placed against any opponent, they had been overcome. And the ones who had shown themselves somewhat impressive, like Kyoshiro or Drake, are traitors.
Even in a scene like Kings clash right now, which does showcase his insane strength, he nontheless failed in his objective to keep Momo and was mocked by Sanji throughout the confrontation.
There really is a need to truly exhibit the power of the Beast Pirates (and not just the yonkous one-shotting their opponents, because that is expected from them) to build any sort of hype for their final matches against the good guys.

Uh…. yes? Why wouldn't it?
it certaintly made a huge difference against Jabra. From unable to pass the Tekkai to breaking it easily.
Diable Jambe is old news though. Even Doflamingo didn't think much of it.
Kinda like Gear 2. Gear 4th just completely outclasses it.

It does not cancel the boost it give, just that the enemies became even stronger. Oda could very easily have had Sanji use DJ against P1 One and have him brush it aside. Like Doflamingo actually did.
Oda clearly had Sanji held back, and I believe it was because he wanted to give some hype to the topi roppo without making it too weird when Sanji get to fight calamity

I'm think he's trying to make a point about Jack being a brute.
Of course, it fails miserably because Jack doesn't care at all.

He didn't give Sanji Diable Jambe because the fire would go against the invisibility, which is the main strength of the suit. It's what allowed Sanji to strike Page One so many times.
The power-ups just aren't that compatible together.
Uh…. yes? Why wouldn't it?

Because Sanji was supposedly using something that was better than "diable jambe" and yet it didn't really look like he actually hurt Page One. Maybe it's not even compatible with the "raid suit".
Shonen Jump September 6th
Mangaplus August 30th
What is correct, can someone tell me?
Pretty sure it‘s september though cause it would hurt the most. xD
It's September 6th on Mangaplus
Edit: Oh nevermind. I didn't seen that thing after the last page.
Meme of the week
I've seen that so many times already, none made me laugh tho.
nothing's ever gonna top the Diesel puns.
In this case, yeah, we're pretty sure it was just a mistake. The kanji of "hana" used here is 100% for flower, not nose.
I was thinking about it and how weird it would be for Stephen to make that mistake. Then it occurred to me rather than being a mistake it could be because next chapter someone will make a pun between "flower" and "nose" (since he hit BM on the nose).
Since the pun wouldn't translate, he would need to adapt it now for the joke to land on the next chapter.
So is Big Mom going to revert back to O-Lin right now and make things even more chaotic or why can the character that needed an entire assassination plot to hurt her because supposedly nothing can take her out suddenly seems to be affacted being hit by a motorcycle? Of course I realize she's not out cold but still knocking her down for a second to something trivial as this seems a bit weird.
I'm pretty sure a Brachiosaurus falling right on top of your head is far more powerful than a bike.

That's what I'm saying, but I guess this is the new thing for people to fret about lol

Yeah, its either the return of "O-Lin" or Oda just wanted to give Franky and Brook an epic entrance.
I'm pretty sure a Brachiosaurus falling right on top of your head is far more powerful than a bike.
yeah but maybe, once her amnesia had been triggered for the very first time, she only requires random slaps to bring it back again.
In this case, yeah, we're pretty sure it was just a mistake. The kanji of "hana" used here is 100% for flower, not nose.
I don't read spoilers or other translations, I enjoy just waiting and reading the official version when it comes out so I'm out of the loop. But I was curious what was going on because nobody would ever mistake the kanji for flower and nose.
You're right though, I read the official English line and thought Franky was just talking about Nami and trying to look cool.
The Japanese is 花をひいてなきゃ and I would translate it as "Oops. Did I just run over somethin'? Oh well. As long as I didn't run over any flowers."
1. Big Mom is wearing a flower in her hair that he avoided running over.
2. The pun is that he did run over a "はな" (鼻=nose) but not a "はな" (花=flower).
sidenote - Maybe this is how Stephen came up with that line? Franky "ran over" her nose, therefore she has a "runny=run'over nose" but that is a big stretch and didn't really come off that way because of Nami's running nose.
There is a difference between throwing this ball here
!
against your torso or your head.
You probably won't sustain any severe damage either way since it's just a medicine ball, but you will lose balance (or even topple) if it hits your head. Especially if you didn't see it coming.
That's what happened here with Big Mom. Except it was a motorcycle that landed and then accelerated on her face.
I'm pretty sure a Brachiosaurus falling right on top of your head is far more powerful than a bike.
But what if it was a Brachio-tank?
I get the feeling that we’re going to learn some truths about fire haki through King’s fight with Sanji. I wonder if Sanji was using CoA haki on his torso when King attacked.

True, but she also didn't a brachiosaurus attack from one of Kaidos strongest subordinates coming and it seemed to have less of an immediate effect than the bike. It just feels a bit inconsistent to me.

What is the immediate effect though? For now all it did was make her fall on her back.
The Brachio bomb, on the other hand, came directly from above, pressing Big Mom's head into her neck. There was no horizontal push that could have made her lose balance.
I mean I will join the choir when she really turns into O-Lin next chapter, but as far as I can tell this didn't (and shouldn't) cause her any harm.
I think I understand why people have the impression that the bike was more effective than Queen, simply because falling on your back is more humiliating (we even just had an arcboss hurting himself just to avoid landing on his back), but pushing even a monster like Big Mom always seemed doable to me. Like when a supercharged motorcycle lands and accelerates on her face or something .
I’m confused both official sites say different things
Here it says we get the next chapter August 30
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/titles/100020
But here it says 14 days til next chapter
https://www.viz.com/shonenjump/chapters/one-piece
There both official sources so which one is right?
