I mean, I doubt Oda named the dinosaurs from Little Garden anywhere. That's a dinosaur, but unless Oda himself confirms he wanted it to be a T-rex and took some artistic liberties (or made a mistake), it isn't one because it lacks one of its main identifiable traits.

Above all the manga, beyond that other official sources like data books, Vivre Cards and the likes although you should take them with a grain of salt as well, they’ve been also wrong before.
Like Deicide said, if the manga never called that dinosaur a T-Rex and its physiology doesn’t fit current knowledge then it stands to reason that it’s either not a T-Rex or Oda made a mistake. The wiki claiming it is one doesn’t make it so, that was just written by some random person on the internet and I think you would agree that “OnePieceFan1975 on the wiki said so!” is not a proper reason, wouldn’t you?

I don’t care if you keep calling it a T-Rex, if you don’t consider the possiblity that it might not be one until there’s “overwhelming evidence” for it or whatever other justification you have. I just had a problem with your “the wiki says so” argument because that’s just plain stupid. And so is the “We’re all free to believe whatever we want” because it’s just a blanket excuse to be stubborn.
And yes, you could also word it like that but then you would only demonstrate that you have a completely wrong takeaway from this discussion. I don’t expect you to blindly follow what Deicide or I say about the matter instead of the wiki because of course that would be the same issue I had a problem with in the first place. Instead I expect(ed) you to consider the arguments we brought up to point towards the possibility that the dinosaur on Little Garden is not a T-Rex. But then again, I remember you’re the type to argue that it’s easier to blindly assume things and apologize afterwards if needed instead of just rolling with whatever we actually do know for now and change your mind/behavior when more evidence is shown, so I don’t know why I expected anything at all.
The wiki is only really reliable for stuff like pinning down what chapter or episode some small thing happened in, or grabbing Japanese text for a name or checking a bounty. Stuff like that. Otherwise pages tend to be full of conjecture and superfluous summaries. If you read the manga you shouldn't ever need that.

All due respect, but anyone who went through a "dinosaur phase" at one point or another could probably tell you that the two-fingered forelimbs are one of the famously distinctive features of tyrannosaurids, and you are perfectly capable of googling tyrannosaurs and reading up on the topic to confirm this on your own without needing us to provide you with citations from peer-reviewed paleontological research papers.
I'm certainly not claiming Oda is above mistakes, so he could have intended the dinos in question on Little Garden to be T-Rex, but so far as I'm aware he's never specified what species those dinos are meant to be one way or the other, and I honestly doubt it's important enough for him to clarify and cop to such a mistake when there are a wide variety of other theropods that could easily fit the bill. Saying that it's a Tyrannosaurus because the wiki says so has less weight than saying it's not a Tyrannosaurus because <insert ap="" forum="" member="" here="">says so, because unlike the wiki (which only lists the chapters the animals appear in as its citations), in this case the latter have actual paleontological fossil evidence on their side.
No one's saying you have to stop calling it a T-Rex, but unless Oda deems it worthy enough to warrant clarification, chances are pretty good that you're wrong to do so.</insert>
I remember when the One Piece wiki declared Doflamingo was dead for a whole week when Kyros beheaded him, (despite that being an obvious fake out) or when it absolutely refused to accept that Koala was a girl. And lets not even get into Sabo.
Also the fact that it always replaces manga images with anime images at the first opportunity? Plus weird priorities like spending a LONG time describing the appearance of a female character, while other important stuff… is not.
The wiki is good for checking a chapter number or a timeline thing. It is terrible as a primary source.

Well it's not. It censors things, removes cover stories, contradicts future developments, and adds lots and lots of padding.
The basic story is mostly the same but it absolutely isn't the source.
Heck, even the movies Oda wrote himself aren't canon because they don't fit.
Just as a little example in the latest chapter, Carrot and Wanda appear in the Sunny right after Luffy postponed Jinbro's toast, but they were entirely removed in the anime.
Heck, the anime omits how Luffy got his scar.
And in the anime Usopp has met Gaimon for no particular reason because they shuffled those stories around.
And Zoro cut steel before meeting Mr. 1.
And how and why Zeff lost his leg are completely different.
None of those things are earth shattering, but you get a few hundred little differences and they start to add up and change the overall tone of things.
If you only watched the anime, you'd basically get the whole story. But you wouldn't get quite the same story.
That's before you get into the issue of what removing the cover stories, but paradoxically adding padding, does to the pacing. (Dragonball was probably worse since they generally had a smaller roster of characters to pad with so the filler was usually… not great once they got to the battle portions of an arc..)
If you're an anime only watcher you have NO IDEA why Django and Fullbody are in the marines. They just, completely randomly... are one day. And you miss out on how Hachi met Caimie, and who knows what they'll do when they have to finally explain what Enel found on the moon 20 years after the audience was supposed to get that information.

I always found this so weird. Like there's already a gallery of outfits right below, why is someone typing out a full description of girl #217's socks and detailing me every skirt she wears every arc. Like bruh.
I'm not really sure how the wiki works, but I believe the idea behind anime-only pictures is to avoid severe copyright infringement? Like everyone knows it's a grey area and they're basically at the mercy of Shueisha.
With that in mind, not trying to force their hand by using frames from 20 minute long anime episodes (instead of entire manga doublespreads) does make sense, even if the results can be jarring.
There's no excuse for them filling in the blanks though. If in doubt, just leave it out. Or at least highlight the uncertainty, with a "presumed dead" tag or similiar..

I just gave two examples? If they have to take down those pictures for whatever reason it would be handy to have a written description in place, and it's not a super unlikely scenario either (see upload filters and Shueisha moving on content creators).
And of course it's always desirable to make information accessible for everyone, even if only a few hundred people worldwide might benefit from it.
Anyway, it's a point that can be easily ignored because it does no harm, unless we're talking about the editors awkwardly fetishizing the female characters (I don't know, I rarely visit the wiki).

Nope. They fill it with manga pictures and color spreads and things all the same. That is not their concern or the reason they do it. It'd be understandable if it was, but it is not the reason. They just prefer the color pictures, and the manga didn't start getting colorized until relatively more recently.

Not to the same degree. Male characters will usually get two or three paragraphs, and maybe three pictures, while specific girls might get 10 paragraphs and 40 pictures, plus another 10 paragraphs about their personality.
There's a million characters so its hard to make major generalizations, there's always exceptions and obviously major characters get more so you can't compare Moria to Cindry, but generally someone like Hancock or Perona gets a LOT more words and pictures than say, other arc allies like Paulie or Kokoro or Lola from the same era.

As an audience member, if you think Dofla was actually killed incredibly suddenly out of nowhere by a secondary character and updating the information to reflect that, shows a complete lack of critical judgement and is misguided, and a good example of why the wiki is so fallible.
It's one thing to list Sabo as dead (even though it was obvious he wasn't) because he "died" and then officially went of camera for years, and over a decade in-story, or Pedro who has had a big deal made about it, but not… when the situation is that and its pretty clear its going to be different in three days.
Updating on the spot with wrong information is less helpful than not updating at all. Just like the actual real world news when they baselessly speculate on breaking news stories while they have no info.

I'm inclined to agree with Robby when it comes to declaring characters dead. Even in cases like Vergo or Monet, who I personally believe are 100% dead, I'd rather have their status be "missing", "unknown" or "presumed dead". Wano is as good example as any: Orochi has been beheaded twice, Kanjuro's been cut down twice, the samurai have been beat by Kaido and most of them would appear to be dead as I'm writing this. But this is a manga where Pell survives a point-blank bomb, Bellamy turns out to have been alive all along and both Doflamingo and Orochi have proven that beheading is an unreliable execution method.
The point where I think it's appropriate to write them off as dead is either when they're confirmed by official sources or when they've received a burial or some form of mourning.
Admittedly a lot of it comes down to personal preference, but this is what sounds most right for me. The one character I'd have most trouble setting a status on is Pedro, as by all accounts he's not confirmed dead, but with the minks (especially Carrot) mourning him and his will being passed on it's a strong case for him being a goner.

Yep, just a bunch of salty party pooping sailors using the simple mention of a wiki as an opportunity to vent on them on Internet forums. Nothing wrong with criticism of course, though if those people will passive-aggressively resort to making accusations like “erasing history and evidence” or even “superiority against forum users with the real evidence by their side”, then it makes me what the real point of the discussion is in the first place. I wish the best for them though. At least one person admitted to me already that they come into these forums salty at times, presumably using One Piece as a way to escape. I’m sure other people here feel the same way, so I wish the best that they continue to find conversations here or elsewhere they can have a good time in.
I think one of the things that really dashed any possibility for Carrot was the fact that she was never immediately tied to the conflict of the arc. For the other members of the crew, the main conflict for their respective arcs had personal relevance, and its resolution meant something for them. Saving Zoro from execution, saving Usopp’s village and Kaya, defending Baratie, freeing Nami and Cocoyashi from Arlong, driving Wapol out of drum and defending Hiriluk’s will, rescuing Robin and Franky from being taken by the World Government to activate/build Pluton, defeating Moria to return Brook’s shadow to him, helping Jimbei defend Fishman Island. And now liberating Yamato from Kaido. That’s what allows those characters to have major focus in the arcs they join, that the conflict has an added layer to them. Carrot doesn’t really have anything similar to that. She’s been treated like an accessory to the conflict in that way.
Yeah, though I suppose what’s happening with Perospero will allow Carrot to further her own story somehow.

Looking back at this thread, comparing it and this site in general to something like Worstgen, is like night and day. At Worstgen, certain people there just insult and bad-mouth each other, like their support for a character really matters that much to their lives, and go to war about it. Whereas here in AP, there's at least some form of respect to one another.
Going back on the thread's topic itself, I do agree that Carrot has gotten put to the wayside, and I say that as a Carrot supporter, but, I still think (not theorize) both she and Yamato will join. That is pretty much my stand here.

While Kaidou does his Thunder Bagua one-handed, Yamato's version was shown using both hands, presumably as a sign of the difference in strength between the two, so I don't know that Yams switching to using a kanabo in each hand would necessarily be a more effective fighting style for him. And even if it could work theoretically, it'd be kind of hard to get secret two-weapon combat training when he's been confined to Onigashima for the past 20 years.
I've gotten pretty much all I wanted from Oden-style nitoryu by way of the Akazaya, and any techniques worthy of being "appropriated" by the Strawhats would probably be better served in Zoro's hands, so personally, I'd rather see how far Yamato can take his one kanabo fighting style.
Since baseball is quite popular in Japan, do we know if Oda enjoys the sport? Although we already got bat-based combat with Mr. 4 and there's nothing indicating Yamato's fighting style being influenced by the sport, it would've been a fitting inspiration for some moves.

Could be. The attack Yamato used to take out one of the Numbers looked a lot like he just took a baseball swing at a falling chunk of rock and "Home Run'd" it straight into the giant's chin to me.
