Sanji deserves to win.
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

Sanji deserves to win.
-
I dunno, all he's really done this year is get beaten up by his dad.
-
Sanji is too busy being the damsel in distress to win the tournament.:ninja:
-
Carrot didn't do better this year as well.
-
I don't even like Sanji much, but I feel compelled to vote for him because I don't want a new character winning like in 2014.
-

I'm sure oda said it's the year of sanji because we will find out the mystery of his birth, not because he will shine combat wise. the combat year of sanji could be 2017.
And we didn't see the final of the battle, but based on sanji's small wounds, it wasn't much of a beating.

Geez, I hope Sanji gets >150 votes and Carrot >100 votes, just to make it a little more significant. Speaking of:

Yeah tournament participation has been on the decline. I joined in the final days of 09's tournament, and the threads had a LOT more pages and campaigns. This year some matches have barely cracked 1 page.
-
We also finally had our 0-vote winner.

I'd call that and Nami losing by one vote to be some of the highlights.
-
The highlight was Weatheria Wizards beating the shit out of Barto's Granny.

Well the question is… Is only the tournament on the decline?
I think the whole forum is... Most of us "elders" do not have the time to post like in the past and the "younger" posters are afraid of the "strict" rules here around (which I enjoy)
Just look at Oro Jackson... It is a compete shithole but active as fuck... And not only at spoilers... Here the last final of something similar as this tournament

Do not get me wrong. AP is still the best forum by a fucking margin. But I still think the people responsible for it should try to get some people on board.
But as I said… Most of us are to old to actually give so much interest into it as in the past. That's why I do not donate it anymore... Not because I do not want support AP but because I do not see "the future" in it... and because my questions about the last 2 donates never have been answered.
But enough critizm...

Jinbe edging Robin by one vote was also noteworthy

This is true. A lot of the 2004-2009 era red stars and mods don't post anymore. And the day where we had the most amount of active users at once (3000+) was what, back in 2011?
I myself joined in 2009 and only got in a groove around 2010 onward, but even then, six years, it feels like a lot is different.

16 chars of YES!

This tournament is one of the things that keeps me in this place for so long, the past tournaments were part of my life, so much that I used to make tallies just for fun and was eager for the results everyday. Tallies for 2009,2010,2011 and 2012:

Ryuu managing to beat Doffy and Zoro was a high point for me
the matches that were decided by a single vote were really tight too -
Now that you said it, there were not many ties this year.
-
I gotta say, for my first AP Character Tournament as a newbie, I really enjoyed it! Ryuu and Jinbei going as far as they was something didn't expect, along with me actually voting for Moria (that day I learned that campaigns are a powerful weapon).
Although, it is nice to see Sanji get the appreciation he deserves.
By the next tournament, I'll be ready with campaigns and it will truly be The Year of Jinbei!
-
Machvise is still true winner of this year tournament in my opinion. LOL. One of the reasons, I'm still around besides I really like it here. Is these tournaments, I still really like this year tournament with a lot of unexpected things happened like the zero vote winner. I surprised that Whitey Bay did a great job in the first round.
-
Unless some new character or char development comes up that I like very much, or Jinbe becomes a bad character, Jin will have my full support next year.
-
The real question is how likely is it that Carrot bulldozes her way to the semi-finals or more next year.

If she joins the crew, next year will be a fierce battle between Jinbe and Carrot.
-
Champion = Harambe
Second Place = Machvise
Honorable Mention = Sanji
-
Wicca won a match and put up a good fight in round 2. Best tournamentyet
-
Fun tournament, even with that coding bug and Moria having to face Sanji so early in the tournament, I had a great time making and posting those campaigns. I can not wait for next year.
-
My highlight, aside from Sanji actually winning a tournament, is definitely seeing how far Koala was able to go with so little campaigning behind her. Particularly taking down two former champions like Bon-Chan and Franky. So awesome! ^o^
-

To be fair, the forum records have all been achieved by spambots and attackbots. The actual number is much lower. Even right now we have 37 people signed in and 1100 "guests".
Now that you said it, there were not many ties this year.
They're less common in general since we instituted the held vote tie breaker clause. People don't vote solely to try to cause ties now when matches are close. The rare event of a tie actually happening is an actual event. There were a few ties in the multivote matches though.
-
Yeah I think in general site traffic has dwindled sognificantly since the hey days of Marineford and the tournament is a primary indicator of that.
-
I dunno. I've seen a spike in people interested in Slam Dunk. I've had a few people message me about it lmao.
-
Sanji deserved it, Sanji deserves it, Sanji will deserve it. Whichever applies to you, he won't let you down.
-
I think we should totally have a match between Sanji and Machvise after the finals by the way.
-
Just when you think that no campaigns would ever top 'Share the Urouge'. Oda went and drop massive campaign. 'Year of Sanji'. Boom. Champion. What a man.
-

I stand corrected.
-
Do we get a ceremony or what?
-
Ryuu and the Weatheria Wizards are the true champions in my heart. But I have no objections in Sanji winning, like what Captain Ugly said…
!
:ninja:Its my first ever tournament too, and I am happy that I got to make lame campaigns for my favourite characters, though I ran out of ideas during the final rounds… Campaigns are a huge highlight for me, they were all creative and fun, along with Ryuu beating Doffy and Zoro, the Zero-Ou Machivise, and the glorious awesome octopus fishman Fred. Can't wait for the ceremony and more of these tournaments to come.
And like what others said… its a bit sad to see this place less popular than other forums not named for ethical reasons.
-
Wow, congratulations Machvise!

I only found this forum in 2013 and I still miss Nia.

I find this obligatory.

i only got to around 16 pages but it's pretty fun.
i think next time maybe i'll scour the previous tornaments for great campaigns and repost them like the lazy bum i am:ninja: -
It's all so bittersweet but i'm glad it's over.
2k17 will be year of Gedatsu.

Oh, and good job Sanji. If there was a year to win…

The One True Lord and His Magnificent SteedThat's the best thing I've seen in all these weeks.
-
From my count, I did more than 100 different campaigns for Moria, it was a shame that I couldn't use all of them.
Well, at least I have campaigns for next year.
-
The funny thing about previous tournaments is that a "37 vote gap" was seen as quite a small margin but in this tournament it basically meant you got wrecked…
Times have changed indeed but come on we're all growing up and shit in 2010 I was 18 and not even signed up to this place, I was just a guest reading others opinions on here and learning more and more about One Piece
-
I think of Nia every year this comes around and get sad!
Too true, she campaigned relentlessly for Hattori all the time and they were magnificent. I really do miss her.

Other question besides bashin the traffic here around.
Will I get a star because Sanji have won this tourney… You know just because xD
