@moud:
why do you assume that Gear 4th is luffy's only resort at fighting doflamingo , Gear 4th is an extreme measure designed for short fights with a huge drawback , as you know from the training flashback we got some kind of foreshadowing that luffy will move past the disadvantage of gear 4th and come up with a proper way to fight strong ppl
i'm not claiming whether luffy is stronger or weaker , only that he was at a disadvantage as much as doflamingo was and the fight might've gone differently under different circumstances
I don't assume anything. At this point, there's no reason to think Luffy is able of anything that could be efficiently used in a fight against someone like Dofla, otherwise he'd use it. The talk with with Rayleigh is ambiguous. It might mean Luffy had already overcame the disadvantage and we've seen it, or he has yet to overcome it. Considering what we've seen , the second possibility has yet to be proven.
Dofla had no help in the last phase of their fight, while Luffy was helped by everyone and their sister.

it's like a runner that would've easily run a targeted distance in 20 minutes was given a task to finish it but in only 2 minutes , so he collapsed before reaching his target
like i said the time limit greatly affects the result in doflamingo's favor , giving luffy 10 minutes rest isn't any more advantageous than doflamingo using the people of dressrosa to apply this time limit in the first place
Ultimately, Luffy without G4 couldn't do much against Dofla, and Dofla couldn't do much against Luffy with G4. Not in the condition they both were, at least. But unlike Dofla, Luffy needed a 10 minute break mid fight.
This whole discussion started because I said Jack could be weaker than Dofla and still pose a threat to Luffy. Because OP is not simple power level math. And because Luffy vs Dofla involved too many outside factors.

@uniaka:
He needs to set up his game even more to defeat the yonkous and admirals. He needs even more power, even more speed, and even better recovery agains't the yonkous. Look at gear 4, no way Kaidou and the rest would just give 10 minutes of rest and sht, he was lucky with doflamingo, that also got a gamma knife to the chest.
Besides, do you ever see luffy turn evrything and their mother into rubber?
Well, using bouncy enironment to gain an edge against his opponents would certainly be feasible. The simplest example would be those elastic ring ropes and the moves wrestlers use with them.
But at the moment we can't be sure each Paramecia awakening acts the same. Dofla and Luffy's fruits are fundamentally different. Dofla is a produce type, like Mr. 3, Magellan or Kalifa. And Luffy is body type, like Alvida, Buggy, Daz Bones etc. There's also a different body type, like Bellamy's, which changes body parts at will. Then there are physics defying fruits like Corazon, Foxxy, Whitebeard have, for example. And all those others which can't be put in a cathegory, like Mr. 2's body transformation, Robin's specific limb duplication, the rust captain from marines, the multiple detachable ball transforming captain Verygood, human fucking jacket Kelly Funk, auto and environment flagging Diamante…
It's literally impossible that all these different devil fruits act the same during awakening. Of course, we will most likely never see what most of those awakenings look like, but Oda should have at least figured out the basic rules or something. Why does this fruit do this and awakening and why does that fruit do something different during awakening.
