Creativity = NULL.
But at least they are all more creative than Voltorb.

I been gushing over those fakemons since yesterday. Probably some of the best fan designs I've seen yet, but that's mostly my taste. The Man line is my favorite.
-
I'm personally fond of FullEnglish.

Oh my god, this is perfect! And I can actually see some of those being real… sadly not Roadkill :~

They figured out how to drive the hype train quite well, haven't they?
I hope we get to see more of the overworld (Like some other island) and some new game mechanics.
As for pokemon, maybe we'll get to see the regional bird and rodent and the dog creature of the japanese trailer.
I wish they'd kept at least a third of them a secret, but I understand they have to show the cool stuff.
-
My bets are on Solgaleo and Lunaala proper introduction. Don't think they will be giving more for now.
-
Trailer bird, trailer doge, and any other beginning route Pokémon is really all I expect.
Though a in-depth look at any new mechanic would be sweet.

Probably, but 13 days after that the next corocoro comes out, so by the 10-15 they will release another update anyway.
I hope they show Magearna ingame also, wouldn't mind to see the bird and the dog either, but it's probably to be saved for the next trailer.

I agree. Official release of legendary names and maybe typings
-
My typing bets for the legendaries are Fire/Psychic for the lion, and Dark/Psychic for the bat.
-
Fire/Psychic and Dark/Fairy would be super cool and mutually destructive.
-
I can't see Lunaala as anything other than Dark/Flying.
-
It'd be a huge bummer if it was exactly the same type as Yveltal though, a version legendary that just happened in the last generation.

I think we'll also get the trainers, rival, and professor(s?) official names too

It's all but confirmed Alola region will feature multiple islands, just like real Hawaii.

Does this mean we'll be Surfing most of the game or using boats/Fly?
-
I have to assume early on it'll be boats or something… (maybe a rent-a-Lapras similar to flying with Latios last game) because there's no way super powered Surf is showing up earlier than halfway through the game.
Sadly that means the routes will probably be gated as usual so everyone is going to have the same basic path and same basic journey, which is silly in an era where massive open world sandboxes exist.
-
It's too early to tell. But the setting couldn't be more enticing.

It doesn't have to be Witcher 3 size or complete rambling like Skyrim.
Just the same size as any traditional pokemon game, but with a little more freedom to go in different directions early, and less full blown straight line paths. Gyms would still be gated by badge count. Same trainers in areas, same wild encounters and catching, and even the same evil organization events. Those can be scripted and blocked off by plot progression and still need a roughly similar order to trigger. You can still have some areas blocked off by late game HMs or whatnot.
But to just arbitraily block you from exploring the world, building a team, coming back to things later? By say, having a jerk in the stret saying "hey, don't go past her yet!" or "the power lines are out!" or "we're just standing here for no reason" is really arbitrary and dumb.
More like Dragon Quest 8, less like… pokemon..
Gym leader strength could be based on how many badges you already have so sequence breaking would fine. An the "disobey you after certain level" clause would keep you from ignoring gyms for forever. And even wild mon level can very very easily be regulated by rough party level, lots of other rpgs manage that. There's ways to keep you from just beelining to an area to catch a level 60 monster right off.
Open worlding Pokemon would take very, very little effort from the current setup. Just a bit more freedom would be nice. Even something as simple as having two or three different cities to start from, giving you a very loose branch path for the first few hours would go a long way to mixing things up and giving everyone very different starter monsters to get attached to.
-
I'm currently working in a game that would be a tighter experience if it were to be made linear, or planned branching. Bad linear could still be a playable game, bad open is a mess, no mechanics can save it.

Ever since Black and white I read people wanting multiple starting points to diversify your journey. I personally don't like the idea because those initial moments of discovery and dialog with the Mother/Rival/Professor are a solid part of Pokemon's lore and charm. Choosing a starting point would be better as an informed decision, opposed to just picking a point on a map. It would have worked nicely on B2W2, but not on a new generation.
What I would like to see is some interchangeable gyms. Like you could do gyms 2,3 and 4 or 5, 6 and 7 in any order (with adapted challenge levels, of course) kinda like how the elite 4 is nowadays.
-
I can't see Lunaala as anything other than Dark/Flying.
I think Dark/Fairy is possible and would be quite interesting.
-
Considering there's over 700 Pokemon, an open world sounds overwhelming to make but it would be a home run if done well. But I would love if there was enough stuff to do that the gyms would get harder and harder until you get to the Elite 4, where they're like lv. 80 or something.
-
I belive that they should focus on the postgame experience, doing comunity stuff, and giving the tools to build online gyms and these kind of things, instead of focusing on a main game/story stuff that players might just do once and be done.
-
Games have done different options for gyms before, though. You could do Koga and Sabrina in whichever order you wanted, and technically Erika didn't have to be encountered until the very end. I believe DPP had a section with two interchangeable gyms too. On the other hand, I actually hate being able to take the Elite 4 in any order since they're all the same level and it removes some of the challenge.
I think the proper balance would be to have one or two areas of the game, say gyms 2-4 and 6-7, be circular or branching and able to be taken on in whichever order the player chooses. The key would be to attach gym and potentially route difficulty onto the number of badges you have when first attempted, to allow grinding if necessary but still include scaling difficulty.
As a side note, I'm a fan of naturally blocked off regions via Waterfall, Surf, Rock Smash, and so on as well as semi-linear maps where you have to backtrack. The perfectly circular route of BW is one of the reasons I didn't get it, and frankly XY's wasn't much better. Going through a city only once makes it very forgettable while backtracking breeds a greater familiarity with the region.

This post is deleted!

The games are already open world, they just
a)have completely arbitrary things blocking the road that are dumb (especially when its just a small ledge)
b)leaving giant gap areas between straight lines of road. No, Open World wouldn't work if you just threw it onto the existing Kanto map, but something designed for it? Would be great. I again point to Dragon QUest 8. Which was over a decade ago. Or almost any Dragon Quest game really. There's still difficulty curves and a basically set path that you're guided on, but you have more overall freedom.
Being able to go wherever you want is not the same as being able to get to the most secluded final areas right off the bat.

Excited for some new info tonight!
Gonna be quite late for my country but will stay up nonetheless :) -

So… The general consensus, for today's reveal (in 2 or so hours), seems to be related to a brand new mechanic being implemented into the game: synchronization. It's been seen in the anime just recently (last episode, I believe), and has been hinted at and talked about for quite sometime already; with the weird Greninja being dubbed: Ash-Greninja.
It seems to let the Pokemon and it's master link their minds together, allowing them to feel each others emotions, see each others sights, hear each others sounds etc. etc. It also is, seemingly, connected to Mega Evolution in someway, shape or form. Not sure how they will implement this from a gameplay perspective, but yeah.

Where have you seen this consensus from? Is it just wild conjecture or based on some insider knowledge?

Some insider knowledge, but mixed with people just adding on piling on it.
Insider knowledge stating it's a major mechanic for the next games (but possibly not the reveal today), but people piling on saying that it will be in the reveal today based on the recent anime episode showcasing it.

Not sure if I like this Synchro thing…
But if it includes every Pokemon (or at least their final forms) then it will make more sense. Maybe. -

But if it includes every Pokemon (or at least their final forms) then it will make more sense. Maybe.Heck… Maybe it's even an indication character customization will be back in the game, clothing and all. So when you synch your Pokemon might look different than someone elses because of clothing and appearance.

That would be nice but if Pokemon gain different boosts and stuff depending on customization, sounds like a nightmare for programmers and players alike.

Psychic Steel huh?
Not bad. -
Pokedex Rotom is soooo coooool!!!

And Psychic Ghost…
Don't think many predicted this.A Mysterious Assistant..? That's a first right?
Rotom in Pokedex makes sense.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Multiple Islands look pretty cool.

A talking living pokédex is just… no. We weren't even introduced yet, but I can already tell I hate it.
Also, the region looks great and... are you ready to SUUUURF??? :ninja:
