Heck… One of the starters might of accidentally leaked already anyway (not a picture, just what it is). From one of the Pokemon Designers themselves (the post being deleted now lends more credence too).
! It's a water-type octopus / squid.

Idk what it says in the Japanese at the bottom but that being a leak sounds like a reach. Not that I would complain though, that would be great.
I just want around 100 new Pokemon. Gens 3 and 5 are the best to me because the regions were cool and they introduced loads of new pogeys.
Hmmm. I'm adopting your nordic theme.
Let's see, the graceful one will be the grass starter, let's go with Grass->Grass->Grass/Water, we had a meirmaid singer, a fire witch, a dryad/nymph druid? Lotus + Nymph + . Can't think of the base animal. I say squirell for now.
Meaning that the calm and composed one, sneaky thief/hunter/assassin gets to be fire, Fire -> Fire -> Fire/Grass, smoke themed anaconda, going for Jugrmander, keeping it different from the rest of the snake pokemon. Plant base being… Weat. Dry golden weat, on it's head and sides, it burns it for the smoke.
Finally, water being a boiling viking themed berseker, water and fire berseker, Fenrir-like wolf with a steam mane.
I now realize why they had to give the little legs to snivy, I can't imagine a proper progression from a small snake to a larger snake, to a even bigger snake with just the body.
Checking the animals of yggdrasyl, they are squirel, eagle and a non Jugrmander snake/dragon.
I dunno, this is a random bet.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
My real wish is for them to finally change the "Pokemon" font into something themed from this generation, but I know that they won't. Blocky blue and yellow forever. sigh.
I just hope for another gen populated with only 100% unique-to-this-gen pokemon until post game. Let me love the new guys instead of leaning on old favorites.
I'm gonna laugh if it's something to do with Pokemon Go or introduce another app entirely. Anyways, all aboard the Gen VIII hype train!
If we get anything besides Gen 8, I'm betting on a switch port or sequel to Detective Pikachu.
I'm keeping my expectations low and think we'll just get the starters and a title.
Even just the starters and a title would be welcome.

I really don't get it since the Japanese one changes every time. While the stateside one is still just… 20 years old.
We're probably just getting a title and maybe a quick shot of what the new region looks like.
Chances are tomorrow they're going to reveal all the new characters, the entire pokedex, the map and progression route of the region, the new villain team and its plot twist leader, and an entire stream of the whole game in seven minutes.
I'm just hoping for a little more than we got for Sun & Moon's initial reveal. Give us at least a few snippets of actual gameplay footage and a glimpse of a new Pokémon or three. Just, some indication as to what the game will look like.

That rabbit will be a fire\fighting wouldn't it?
Mood: Sobble
Scorbunny for me!
FUUUUUUUUCK!!! The game is looking damn amazing!!!
And the starters. I actually had three "I'm so going with this" moments. The three of them also seem to share the same distinctive style, I wonder if we can expect it from the other Galar pokémon.
So far, Grookey for me. Monkey+grass is a certain pick for me, but if the rabbit ends being a quadruped there may be competition.
Sobble all the way. I'm glad that gyms are back but that's offset by the fact that random encounters are, too.
I wonder how the legendaries will look like.
I guessed the bunny right!
I'm so glad this direct was more in the style of the X and Y reveal. The region being so vertical feels weird to me, but the gameplay so far looks beautiful. I'm fairly excited.
It's going to come down to the starters other 2 forms for me.
I'm very happy to have random encounters back.
Grass starter looks cute enough so i am content.
Yey, Scotland! But I am not feeling any of the starters yet. Will be better with their evolutions.
Grass monkey, that funky monkey.
I'm choosing the aquatic salamander.
I'm going with Sobble! I love reptiles and amphibians!
Can't wait to see what it turns into.
Damn. I don't even know which one I want to go with. Probably either Grookey or Scorbunny.
The starters are all pretty cool, I think I'm more into the bunny since I tend to lean to the Fire starters, but they all look nice.
Also another gen, another Fire starter proving the zodiac theme, waiting for next region people to say it is a coincidence once again.
That was a lovely 3DS funeral.

Cyndaquil is not a rat.
I noticed in the shot just before the first random encounter that she is sneaking which isn't something that has been present since ORAS I think so maybe we will have that mechanic back?
As much as I liked Grookey, I couldn't help but think…
Now the wait (and hype, with trailers, magazine articles and stuff showing new stuff) begins…
Galar map:
!
! Beyond Hadrian's Wall lies the futuristic utopia of Scotland.
I'm just hoping for a little more than we got for Sun & Moon's initial reveal. Give us at least a few snippets of actual gameplay footage and a glimpse of a new Pokémon or three. Just, some indication as to what the game will look like.
Wooo, I got exactly what I asked for!
Liking Fire Bunny best out of the starters so far. And the female player character design looks way better than the male… must be a day that ends in Y. Glad to see that this is clearly a standard Pokémon RPG and not another Let's Go thing, though it is rather weak that it looks like we've once again lost walking Pokémon…
@Cyan:
Cyndaquil is not a rat.
To be honest, if they decided to go for the Zodiac Theme, they probably decided it after Gen II - remember Johto's fire starter was initially going to be a bear. So they probably looked back and thought "can we fit somehow Charmander and Cyndaquil in the zodiac? Then let's move on from here".
I mean, it has been pretty consistent, so I'm starting to believe in it. I still find weird that (1) one type of starters would have a theme while the other two wouldn't; (2) they would make a snake grass starter knowing they would eventually have to do a snake fire starter as well.
EDIT: Ignore the 2nd point, I just realized we got a second chimp starter.
I'm very happy to have random encounters back.
I'm with you on this. Let's Go encounters strongly highlighted how ridiculous it was to have endless animals of many different species flocked in the same bush. You can easily ignore that with random encounters, but is a flagrant mess otherwise.

Where does Fennekin fit in.
The square peg going into the rectangle hole says it's a "dog". Under the logic that lumps porcupines with mouses, and makes no distinctions between eastern and western dragons, it's the shortest leap.
So looks like they basically took the Sun and Moon graphic style and upres'd it to basic console levels and I'm actually A-OK with that. My expectations were pretty mild in regards to presentation (just not like Let's Go) and that was about the minimum I expected. It remains to be seen how the whole region will turn out, but I like how the cities actually look like cities now. Both default trainer designs look decent enough, though I'm not a fan of the male MC's instrument case of a backpack. That's going to be swapped out ASAP. Now the evil team better be knife-wielding hooligans who speak with borderline incomprehensible northern dialects.
The starters, my kneejerk reaction is to go with the rabbit since that's my favorite animal of the three but we'll see how the evolutions go. A soccer-themed rabbit absolutely screams Fire/Fighting.

A dog. A bit of a stretch, but a dog.
Fire bunny seems soccer themed… Prediction: Signature attack of the final form will be kicking a fireball.
Oh, right… so that's why when it appeared I felt like it was an olympic mascot.

Nothing screams Fire/Fighting as much as Incineroar. Not even the actual Fire/Fighting (well, maybe Infernape), so I think we reached a point GF knows better than do that typing again.
Which kinda makes me wonder why they stuck with it for three generations if they weren't going to stick with it definitely.
Incineroar may not have been a Fire/Fighting Pokemon by letter, but it absolutely was one in spirit.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Maybe Scorbunny's final form will be Fire/Normal for those STAB Mega Kicks or something along with some typical Fighting-type moves.
Oh my god yes! UK Themed Region!!! EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED OMG!!!!
Gonna be a Pokégent of S.H.I.E.L.D. this year.
Also, team BlazeBun all the way.
Proposal for four bug-type legendary pokemon themed around music.
@Cyan:
Cyndaquil is not a rat.
Indeed. It is a mouse.
It is a fire echidna.
