EXCELLENT insight.
It might be Marco's native country. Luffy's gonna meet him, and they'd fight the pretended whitebeard's son who's actually looking for both.

Interesting but then it will mean that Nami sewing for Carotte and donating all of their clothe they have
Anyone thinking at the first glance *when reading at the office 'siiiiiiht' nami is turned to animal!!!' Then sanji will be duck or goat *and chopper will be a reindeer
Well we already saw Nami wearing a different shirt before after the Dressrosa battle stuff. This mink may have stolen her clothes. She hasn't worn that top since Punk Hazard if I recall correctly.
Above the gate appears to read, "Mokom Dukedom".
I'm a little disappointed with how much of the chapter was dedicated to cheering on the dragon drawing. I wish more could have happened. I do look forward to learning about the monkey and the mink with Nami's clothes.
Robin was a gem in this chapter
Other than that, the Oda standard with slow set up to what will be coming.
You see, she rubbed her feet on the ground while dashing to Zoro.
Rub your feet on the carpet while wearing socks and touch your cat. :ninja:
Animal cruelty :(
As usual after a no-chapter-last-week, NOTHING happens.
I'm surprised there isn't another break next week you know.
So you'd prefer that Oda just skip through all the juicy arc introduction we've had so far and go straight into the action?
Why are you reading One Piece, then? Because this chapter is the very reason why most fans read this manga in the first place.
Some adventure! I'm happy to see that again. I hope exploring around the land isn't cut short for just action this time around. FI, PH and Dressrosa seemed to have rushed through the fun adventure stuff way too quickly.
It is formulaic, but it is a formula I like and there was a big break from it with Marineford, and as I said, really quick (or also uneven in a way in FI - there's some stuff that was mentioned we didn't even see in the actual island, but the lead up there was quite a few chapters) in the Post-TS arcs. The spread of the forest on the elephant's back looked really nice.
Even with distinct animals, there's Nami sameface, though. I'd be pretty funny if that might be turned into a joke that the minkwoman looks like Nami considering she's wearing her clothes and looks like her. Still, as always I'd appreciate if there wouldn't be so much Nami sameface.
It was a fun adventure chapter, overall!
So we have 2 df users falling towards the ocean and no one really worries.
I usually frown upon the "next nakama because she's hot" crowd but goddamnit Carrot melts my heart.
Even aohige is giving into the hype YAYY!!!
Finally Oda draws his "hot" females differently.
The Zou arc finally begins! I'm excited because the landscape is visually satisfying and I love jungles. I really can't wait to see the rest of the crew. The sunset while climbing the leg and Ryunosuke's art style are all very beautiful. Luffy running off and a giant whale tree get me so excited to get the arc going. I liked Robin's sensitivity towards a drawing and Zorro was pretty enjoyable too.

The time is NOW.

Yeah. Absolutely nothing happened this chapter.
We only got a big, goofy, and a little silly but nonetheless enduring moment with the straw hat crew, we got the reveal of the island itself, were introduced to the "minkmen tribe", and a pretty big cliffhanger that'll be having people debate over crew candidates or even if Nami and the others somehow turned into animals.
Yessire what a boring uneventful chapter.
Odd and interesting. Definitely a good start for being on the Island. Gives off the vibe that either the woman IS nami (kinda like the hobby fruit), or more likely….we are meant to think so at first.
Animals riding animals on the back of an animal. What insanity is this Oda?
I spit my hot chocolate on my work keyboard cause of you, this literally made me LOL

Good point actually.
I'm now convinced that it isn't Nami.
It begs the question though. Was she wearing anything else before?
Or did she just happen to like Nami's fashion sense and take it for herself.
someone wants carrot as a crewmate?
why?
we have seen like 2 pages of her
Idk. It's annoying imo. As many had been predicting the whole arc, the next nakama happened in Dressrosa. Sure, it wasn't done in the traditional way…but that's for the best cuz Wed get too many characters sooner or later if we go outside of the main 9 people for now. We still need the main crew to shine more before we get someone new. Meanwhile, the massive amount of new people in the Grand Fleet means we need a break from all that.
To Oda I'd say- PLEASE. I BEG OF YOU. NO NEW NAKAMA IN THE ZOU ARC!
l feel it's better we give characters like Sanji and Nami more time to shine instead!
All of that said, it'd be too soon for it to happen anyways so I doubt it will..but just in case, since it IS possible...I really hope it doesn't happen.
I don't know if it's been mentioned, but could Carrot be taking her fighting style from Raizou?
Electricity, stealth, acrobatics and Kin'emon/Kanjuro conveniently pushed aside of the plot, preventing them from identifying it?
The dragon did it *:D I wonder what made it go back to a painting, though. Does Kanjuro give the drawings specific orders and they last until they finish the task, or was it just that exhausted from climbing?
The island looks fantastic. I like these sorts of places. Carrot is badass and I look forward to seeing more of her and her fighting style. For the one wearing Nami's clothes, she's actually gone through three outfit changes since the one the Mink is wearing, which is even more confusing as to why she has this specific outfit. This whole arc is being built up with a "What's going on here?" feel.
Carrot reminds me of Leopard, a girl from Mashima's Rave Master, whose ability was wrapping everything around herself as armor, including air, which she then used to move not unlike Carrot in this chapter, if I remember well.
!
it seems Usopp observation haki is still to weak :-)
If human are lesser minks, I thought maybe they would put animals as upper minks but the fact they ride crocodiles seems to invalidate it.
I wonder how our samurai duo will be able to continue to climb given how long the dragon ride seems to have taken. The arc is only starting and we already have our different groups.
If next chapter still no Sanji… I will riot
Yeah I didn't understand that either. At first I thought it was some sort of English expression that I didn't know but apparently it isn't.
It is an American expression in a sense. Not the eyebrow but the "Human xxxx" part. Like calling Luffy a human stomach or Zoro a human distillery in relation to a physical attribute or habit.
It's really not a stretch in this case since it seems Zoro just calls him "eyebrow" or "eyebrows"
If next chapter still no Sanji… I will riot
I'll join you, bruda. :ninja:

Oh okay then, didn't know that.

You're not the only.
Likely we will see them when we get to whale forest, as long as they are not captured by this arc's villain. Aldo, I imagine sht is going down. Not sure if they are the ones the minkmen girls search for, but they could be in trouble with Derpbeard or Kaidou's men.
That kanjuro and his drawings, I would miss him if he doesn't join the crew. Aldo, he and Kinemon are like bros, don't think we can have only 1 of them.
So can we guess that the setting here is at least somewhat inspired by the ancient Adobe cliff dwellings found in the American SW? Or another similar sort of communities build within the cliff strewn landscape?
Hmm.
Time for Chopper to get a girlfriend. o3o
Well I seriously doubt he'll get much of a chance to run across any other deer/human hybrids. Especially one that appealing. I wouldn't expect anything less than him going full on Tex Avery wolf mode.

I would assume that minkmen consider animals as little better than humans. Well except for the elephant which has to be some sort of god to them.
But the "lesser minks" aspect is interesting. Quite a bit similar to the fishmen in that respect, but maybe we're getting hints of some sort of Island of Dr Moreau reveal in which the minkmen were at some point humans that transformed into superior minkmen. You know, that they weren't born as animals since there's kinda some evidence of that–the complete lack of animal-man children anywhere in the series.
Not saying that Nami actually became one of them, merely some sort of hint. Just throwing it out there just on the offchance we get such a reveal, though personally it would be a bit too reminiscent of Funk Hazard's centaurs.
And it's a really silly mistake too.
He said "Hey guys, don't you smell faint scent of gun powder and gas?"HE SAID DON'T THAT MUST MEAN THEY DON'T
Like
Incredibly entry level mistake.

Buddy, I don't have the mod capability to edit someone else's quote.
Don't ask me to do something I can't.
Mangstream made the same mistake:sad:
Thank you for always clearing things up.
So I see it four ways: Either Nami ate a Devil fruit on accident (unlikely, considering the way the furry chick addressed Carrot), got morphed and assimilated into a Minkman tribe member by some curse or something, lent a Minkwoman her clothes (or had them stolen)…or we have some sort of Gekko Moria situation where maybe a Minkwoman got Nami's "essence" or something. I dunno.

Major cool points for having Huey as your avatar. I think the first scenario is by far the most interesting one. Highly unlikely, but it would be so awesome if a character, this long into her development suddenly got new devil fruit powers. It would probably be a controversial decision, but it's a cool idea nonetheless.
It begs the question though. Was she wearing anything else before?
Or did she just happen to like Nami's fashion sense and take it for herself.
Maybe Nami gave her some clothes so that Sanji would stop being completely incoherent.
Also, I'm kind of wondering if we might not have an adventure that consists of Luffy et al fighting their way through to catch up with the others, only for it to turn out they already resolved the main arc conflict (which will be shown through a flashback when they meet back up). That would allow us to have a little adventure with Luffy, Robin, Zoro, Usopp and Franky (and Law), then have a section focusing on the missing members (where they get to do important things and some hype), while condensing things to allow us to move onto the next island relatively quickly.
I think Bariete is Raizo, and the mink woman that resembles Nami is actually Nami.
When Luffy and his group were entering the island, that monkey was firmly and angrily opposing their entry to the 'country', which is something Bariete, the minkman, was charged of doing.
Carrot said that the Straw Hat's entry from the gate signifies Bariete's defeat, which means that he was both guarding the gate and prohibiting people from entering the country. If he was guarding the gate, that means he was close to the cliff from which that monkey fell.
The monkey had both animal and human attributes, exactly the same as the minks. He was also wearing a tuxedo, which makes the possibility of him being a mink much higher than the possibility of him being just a monkey.
Kanjuro said that when Raizou is running around, he makes the sound of 'TETETETE' . It was exactly as what the mink monkey was doing.
This shows that the monkey and Raizo have something unique in common. Monkeys don't make that sound. They make the sound of 'uki' or 'ukikikiki', as was shown in One Piece multiple times.
The mink girl that stopped Carrot looked awfully similar to Nami. She was similar to her in 'clothing' in 'slenderness' in her 'chest size', in her 'tallness', and even in the 'colour of her hair'. She was basically the animal version of Nami. Even her left shoulder appears to be hidden by the cape she is wearing. Nami has a tattoo there.
These similarities that the mink tribe have with the people that Kinemon & Usopp know( Raizo & Nami respectively) are too much of a coincidence.
She has also showed friendliness to an uninvited group of people in her country, whom Carrot and Bariete were treating like an enemy. That is a very strange behaviour that both Bariete and Carrot have not displayed.
There is a good possibility that the secret of the mink tribe is a half-animal transformation of actual human beings due to some supernatural phenomenon.
I know that when Nami came to the island, she was wearing a different clothing. But you must keep in mind that she was also carrying a bag on her back. That bag could have had her spare clothes, which you are actually seeing now.
Carrots are delicious.
Yeah, your theory is definitely what's ahping up to make the most sense, Austra. I thought it was curious from the first time I saw it in the Spoiler thread that her shoulder was covered up. It at least narrows it down to the "soul" or transformation theories
Luffy is on Namek :ninja:
Thought it was strange that it took 6 pages for someone to make that connection. Newgate Jr. appearance confirmed? :D… kidding of course Would be hilarious if there's a fight with those trees in the background and someone/a mink with an interesting/unique zoan DF transforms, leaving Luffy to cry of excitement.
I'm on board the Carrot cute train.. but yeah I have a feeling this arc is going to fuel any furry fire that exists in OP fans haha.
Just imagine if we got a female mink nakama and chopper acted all shy, I would die.
I doubt Nami would randomly become a sword user if she transformed, much more likely Nami gave her clothes to her/were stolen. There's quite a few similarities like austral mentioned though.. definitely interesting. I don't think the mink's will stay aggressive towards the straw hats for long, I'm pretty sure Carrot only surprise attacked because she thought bariete was taken out by them.
Very funny chapter. I'm expecting more funny animals. I miss those creatures so much!
Most likely not Nami….Just cause she's stacked like her and wearing her clothes is pretty flimsy. Plus she didn't recognize the gang. I'd like to give Oda the benefit of doubt that he wouldn't have back to back arcs where there was memory erasure plus transformation involved.
For that mink woman who seems to wear nami's bra, either that mink woman borrowed it from Nami, or stole it from nami. But i don't think she's Nami. If this was the case, it would awfully sound like the hobby hobby fruit which transform people, and personally, i think it would be very repetitive.
And Nami was dressed like this :

Nami's been at Zou for 6 days. She's allowed to have changed clothes since chapter 795 lol.

Sure (although it's a manga, and usually the SH wear 1 costume per arc, so she will probably still be wearing that next time we sse her), but Nami has so many that she tend not to use the same again…
Oh no….they kidnapped Nami and transformed her into a furry.
I smell the most horrifying arc of One Piece. Scarier than movie 6!
Robin was my personal highlight of this chapter … no doubt.
Was that the first time since Enies Lobby that we saw tears in her eyes??
Carrot looks really cute! I like the vibe of Zou so far, it's really refreshing after that huge-scale Dressrosa-Arc.
Carrot is definitely not the girl from ch 795.
The Minks are good at mimicking people. The monkey can copy people's voices, while the female Mink dresses like Nami.

yep,totally different
let alone that the carrot we have seen in this chapter doesn't seem the type to hide from enemies@ICEMAN:

does put someone's clothes count as mimicking?
same can be said about yelling "!tetetete"..doesn't really make them "good" at mimicking
Let's take bets how long it will take Luffy to befriend the king/princess or any other local authorities (as every reputable pirate should do). :)
I maybe have missed it last chap, but has anybody an idea what Frankys shirt means? I (sun?) H T
Well Furries, Oda has now revealed the One Piece editions….........Go Crazy!
I kinda thought the chapter took up too much time with the dragon draw-I mean Ryonosuke, but the 'This is some Sappy Bullsh*t' reaction of Zoro and Law (which I thought was the funniest part) was worth it.
Overall, I'm gonna give this chapter an OK+: lackluster for an intro to a new island (and especially after a break), but it's not like it didn't do anything. And after the hype chapters before the break, it is very understandable.

Dressing up like someone, counts as mimicking. Also the monkey yelling like "tetete" is probably a copy of Raizou. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the monkey that answered Luffy, imitating kanjuro and Kin'emon's voice. The connecting speech bubble is probably the monkey slipping.
