The amount of tears shed in this arc should have created a sea on dtessrosa instantly incapacitating doflamingo and any other DF user.
Chapter 788: "My Fight"
-
-
Must say the negativity about the chapter is especially strong this week, I can appreciate that many (me included) want things to move a bit faster but Oda is clearly happy to take his time so there's no point complaining as it won't make any difference.
-
Lol Dranza, if Cabbage saves Viola, Sanji is going to be soooooo pissed XD
They are already natural enemies
-
One important detail to note is Rebecca being reluctant to drop the sword despite her father's claims. This panel is relevant and I'm sure will lead to some major character development.
Also, don't be surprised if named characters start dying here and there in the chapters that are to come.
-
I liked the chapter and I dont mind the pace slowing down from time to time. But what I find crazy is that when you are about to get killed you nneed to aim for the cause not the result. I mean Fuji is an admiral and Dofla a sichibukai but when you, your men and a whole country is about to get sliced/killed shouldnt you prevent that? C'mon man it's one blow. Same applies for Zoro but I would ease my mind saying that he wants to let Luffy handle it. Even Sabo and Burgess should worry about the cage. Lets say Sabo knocks Burgess unconsious. If the cage is standing they both die anyways. But what really troubles me when I try to cover the situation black spots are the tears all over the place. Why wouldnt Luffy or Dofla (who is aware of Manshelly's ability) take advantage from them?
-
Guys, we all know the birdcage isn't one of those attacks you can just destroy. It is obviously one of those invincible attacks where you have to floor the one who made the attack to make any sort of progress.
Now the real question, with all these powerful motherfookers and all the Busoshoku haki users ( come on we all know Doffy's state haki-wise is just expended) and not one of them can go and defeat doflamingo just because Luffy wants to defeat him with his own hands? Man, fook that shet. .____.
-
6 minutes went by last chapter….only 3 minutes went by here. This chapter sucked
-
Rather than this hax shrinking birdcage, it would be amazing if dofla used his parasite to all citizens, and when the time was up all the citizens would commit suicide..
-
Not one of them can go and defeat doflamingo just because Luffy wants to defeat him with his own hands? Man, fook that shet. .____.
This is Air Gear stuff.
-
Some of you guys hadn't realized that Dofla got pissed and didn't respect the 60 minutes and started to shrink the cage faster.
-
Almost punched the screen when I saw Rebecca again. I hope she gets killed next.
-
I could see a gag where Cavendish is mad that Law left him by himself. It'd be nice if Cavendish retained some hatred for the Supernova outside of general jealousy of them stealing the spotlight. Dunno how likely it is Cavendish is going to appear and save Viola/Rebecca.
For once I could use a map of where everyone is relative to the birdcage because I'm completely lost spatially as to where everyone is.
Speaking of Rebecca, it does kinda suck she's relegated to a spectator again, but at least it's Viola who's facing Doflamingo so hopefully that shuts up any haters believing Oda keeps women down at least this chapter. Like it was said in the chapter, Viola was part of Doflamingo's crew and did screw her family up; it makes sense that the two face each other and there's resolution, even if the arc is bloated.
Doflamingo's never shown this kind of ability so that's all the answer that's really needed (he doesn't have it/not adept at it/limited range), but the question of why Doflamingo can't use Observation haki to locate Luffy is a fair one. That seems like a no brainier to use in this situation, but like I said, it can be hand waved fairly easily.
And Kanjuro's brush is his weapon. Nice to "confirm" though having its first use be against a bird cage is disappointing.
-
Almost punched the screen when I saw Rebecca again. I hope she gets killed next.
People like you are the reason I wish Rebecca joined Luffy. So I can see your foam-filled raging faces. It would be hella enjoyable.
-
Cavendish is going to protect Viola and Rebecca and helping winning time fighting with Doflamingo.
-
Admit it, chapter is really really bad. Like someone said before, you can easily skip this chapter without missing out on anything. The only thing important was Mansherry's healing explained & Viola stood up against Dofla nothing else.
Birdcage- a passive(correct me if i'm wrong) skill Dofla laid down long ago is stronger than any single individual in Dressrosa (admiral/shichibukai/supernova/gladiators/any big names). and with all of their strengths combined you can barely stop the birdcage from shrinking. wow. I'm surprised why isn't Dofla the strongest man alive yet with that illogical skill.
Imagine if he drops a passive(?) mini birdcage on anyone(just anybody really), they can't escape anyway they will just rest in pieces. There is no logic whatsoever behind this skill. Screw this shit i'm done.
Yea I think Odas point was for the new world to be even crazier than the first half of grand line though. Bird cage is strong but maybe its drawn towards his body kind of like how a magnet works even though its string. So he has to be inside of it but he can flex to make it at attract to him quicker. The future battles will only get crazier as the people get more powerful. Doflo is just a shichibukai who is intimidated by yonkou like kaido. Also Fujitora is a newer admiral so maybe he's not really strong. Maybe his skill isn't strength. Robin is kind of strong but her skill is knowledge, maybe Fujitora has a skill different from strength too
-
People like you are the reason I wish Rebecca joined Luffy. So I can see your foam-filled raging faces. It would be hella enjoyable.
LOL, am like him too. I hope herself and King Riku gets killed.
-
Doflamingo…..is much stronger than I had imagine.
His birdcage was stopped for one second against Fujitora and all those high tier fighters.
-

You wish Oda to make one piece worse only to see some guys in a forum rage? This stuff is normally why i never look into the next nakama thread.
-
Forgot one last note. Feel like Kabu not flying above where Doflamingo is located is also fairly acceptable. If he was able I see outside his peripherals he would have found Luffy by now, so avoiding healing people in Doflamingo's line of sight doesn't see too far fetched.
-
Some of you have never read a manga b4, did you?
Last chapter said "4min til Luffy's comeback, 3min til DD's birdcage kills everyone". Did you actually think that any of those timeframes would have been finished by this week's chapter? You could have skipped this week's release if you knew sth about time-framing in General manga.
What else should have happened this week? I'm kinda curious.I don't know but I sure wasn't expecting 15 pages of people pushing stuff. The arc is too long for redundancy. Three chapters ago we got 8 pages of King Riku tell the citizens to move their ass.
-
Doflamingo…..is much stronger than I had imagine.

Yonkou and admirals aside, Doflamingo is the greatest threat Luffy and co have ever faced. He's also the most fleshed out, flashbacks and all. For that very reason I'm sure he's not going down until the glasses fall off.
-
Since Cavendish and Kyros are both missing, they might end up saving Rebecca and Violet.
The stronger group of gladiators are helping Bartolomeo stop the birdcage, that started shrinking faster.
The only ones left to stop DD, are the weaker ones. Which would be curb stomped. The cage is shrinking so fast that it became a priority.
-
We haven't talked enough about bartos Barriers being able to withstand the birdcage. That means Barto only needs CoO mastery and he would almost block every attack with his barriers?
-
People like you are the reason I wish Rebecca joined Luffy. So I can see your foam-filled raging faces. It would be hella enjoyable.
Oh yes, then the Strawhat Pirates will finally have a new member with the assigned profession : Crybaby
But seriously, I find it funny how most of the good karma DF using females like Mansherry and Viola have an ability associated with the eyes and especially TEARS which Rebecca so loves to shed. Man, why couldn't Oda let Rebecca have one of those fruits? She would have been 1x10^50 more useful than she is now.
Also, I can understand people loathing Rebecca's character, but why King Riku? lol
-
Without pointing out the things already stated about the chapter being slow/terrible/whatever, the best thing about it is that Law won't just be spectating the final moments of his nemesis, here's hoping that he will do something about Doflamingo himself!
And i guess that having the side characters do something to help is nice and a further point to anyone that claimed they were just "fodder" around the first 20 chapters of the arc.
-
Also, I can understand people loathing Rebecca's character, but why King Riku? lol
Doesn't matter, I always found loathing characters for quirks and personality traits stupid. If they did other things like killing some of your favorites and that kind of stuff I would understand, but not in this case.
-
Also, I can understand people loathing Rebecca's character, but why King Riku? lol
Because he should have been where viola and Rebecca are now or help pushing the birdcage. He does almost nothing for a king.
-
chapter should have named "push"
i suppose it was becessary as a chapter, but there was not much content..
i have a problem with barto's power though..if his barrier was something you can "push",the king punch should have pushed it against him earlier in the arc…even though maybe he planted a part of it on the ground...but if hat's the case..shouldn't he be able to do it now too and basically stop the birdcage by himself? -

The birdcage might have a lot more force behind it (seeing how it pushes blocks of buildings), even if it moves slower.
Not something I would call out as a mistake. And I tend to be very critical.
-
Nice parallel between Doflamingo/Crocodile and Luffy/Mr. Prince in this situation :ninja:
!
! -
You people do KNOW that the gladiators nor Strawhats know that Luffy is in recovery mode, right?
-
I guess I don't hate the chapter. It would probably be less frustrating if we were reading the whole arc in one sitting. We've been reading the arc chapter by chapter for two years now so we anticipate the end. Remember though in Alabasta? The ending was really similar. They were rushing to get to the clock tower to stop the bomb in time. Cliffhanger after cliffhanger we waited and Oda delivered with a unique twist of an ending.I remember it gave me chills to read Vivi shouting for peace over the quiet city as it rained for the first time. Alabasta..helluva long arc but damn good when all is said and done. This chapter maybe wasn't a good stand alone chapter but it's an Oda cliffhanger in an Oda arc. You Odda believe its gonna be an Oda ending too
-
Viola = Robin confirmed
-
The process is tiring but I do think these chapters are necessary in the long run… I guess I'll reserve my judgement for when Dressrosa will be done with (I'll bet on 5/6 chapters left)
Rebecca can still surprise us, although I kinda doubt it. Regardless I'm a bit ??? at people hating on "crybaby" characters, like... let characters cry when faced with freaking awful situations? It's like people hating on Vivi all over again and acting as if she wasn't one of the strongest characters in OP
Hopefully things will start to pick up next week

Agree, although who knows
-
Zoro's face towards the end of the chapter was great and i liked the one guy who had a similar looking design on him as the gear 4 armament haki pattern.

Thanks. This is what some seem to not understand. Violet just told Rebecca to stay still and not meddle in. When faced with a guy that possesses country level destruction powers and the only you have is just a sword, what else you can do? Anyone would cry out loud if they were helplessly watching someone important for them get slaughtered while being unable to do anything. It also baffles me that they purposelly ditching out that panel of Rebecca's thoughts refusing to drop the sword just to keep bashing on her. It's stupid but I don't think any words will make these people change their mind.
-
I can understand people who like the chapters, I have no problem with that and I keep reading "One piece" because I still like most of it. But please, allow me to have a different opinion than yours. You think family members are indoors, I didn't know that and I am sure I did not miss the part where they were taken indoors. If you can please tell me where I can find this information.
And to be honest this is not very important to me. At least not as important as : Admiral/Zoro/Don/Sai/Prodence king/Burgess/Sabo cannot do anything to mingo or his fucking bird cage.
Lower ranking one are, But what about the Elite officers can't remember they indoors or not?
Chapter 774 pages 4-10 covers everyone's complaints about mansherry. (How can I post pictures?)
I apologize if my initial post came off as attacking. Each person is entitled to their opinion. However many people are just throwing out petty gripes about the manga based upon something unfounded in the manga.
If your gonna call something bad all I'm saying is make sure it actually happened in the story don't complain about something that hasn't happened yet or something that's been misinterpreted.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Lol I totally called it with fairy dust from Mansherry, albeit they were more like dandelions.
Is Rebecca really watching Viola get killed and doing nothing to stop it, I know she can't stop it but just crying, I hope she's doing something.
Will Viola (if she survives) use this whole "I dishonoured the royal family by working for Mingo" thing as a way to leave Dressrosa and join Luffy's crew?? The panel with Franky's cyborg eye was epic as hell. Viola is too darn sexy, usually you'd look like that before a date, not before a dance with the devil. If someone would just give Luffy meat! All this strenuous exercise and effort would be unnecessary. So an admiral can't do nothing to birdcage? I think I'm, with regret, going to have to think Fuji is a lower tier admiral (I'm kidding, Doffy is just hax). We've never actually seen Doflamingo seriously hurt a lady, other than maybe kicking baby 5 away, I guess he's no Sanji lol. How epic it would have been if Sanji were to witness Viola get brutalised? He'd pull a Vegeta and for a brief moment surpass Luffy in power "you hurt my Violaaaaa!!!" ah well, missed opportunity. I like how Oda threw a middle finger back at the fans and answered all their questions in one chapter, so many asking why Barto isn't using his barrier, why Fuji isn't doing anything meaningful etc if there is a named character casualty in this arc it would unfortunate but would make it more memorable. This chapter got my adrenaline pumping.I enjoy your enthusiasm. Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?
-
Ah, nice drawback, Manshelly's heal is only temporary.
Viola against Doflamingo? Hmm….

Women in this country are very passionate. They often end up stabbing their lover.

completely agree. this thread has just been full of horribly misogynistic comments and "WHY IS THE VILLAIN OF THE ARC STRONG????"
seriously, you guys are the most unpleasable bunch I've seen in awhile.
anyways, so my post isnt just complaining, I'll say this: i REALLY hope Oda gives Rebecca a chance to actually fight, she really needs one.

Oh, you don't have to apologize my friend. And thank you very much for the pages. You are right/wrong and I am wrong/right. I am wrong, because I didn't tell exactly whom I was talking about, I was thing the top executives (Pica, Diamante). But as I told you, it's not as critical as my other concern. Thank you.
Ah, nice drawback, Manshelly's heal is only temporary.
As I understood it, it is only this one ability with the flower thing that has this limit, because, in the case of Jola and Sugar, it was not the case. Even when they talked about restoring the factory, I understood, there was no turning back. And now that I remember, Law's arm also, they said the opposite, that it will get better with time. But may be, my understanding is wrong.
Ah, nice drawback, Manshelly's heal is only temporary.
That's the most annoying part, of all the supposedly powerful people on the island, only the two most insignificant and powerless persons had the good idea to go for the origin of the threat. Wow.

I have shat on the Rikku family constantly for 2 straight years and it's great to finally see them show some balls. Viola taking off her coat and taking on Doflamingo was great. Of course Rikku isn't facing him because he's a huge coward, But it's still great to see.
I liked Law warping into the scene, face planting horribly, then immediately sitting up cool as if nothing happened. I really enjoyed this chapter, Oda introducing so many new characters is paying off here I'm excited for the next one.
Also Doffy's string attack. This is what should be happening:
! This is what I feel is actually happening:

And what's stopping Mansherry's tears to heal Dofla since they are all over the place?
That would be amazing LoL
Maybe Kabu is flying near the birdcage only. -

I swear you guys read this as a fuccking shakesperian post 17th century novel.
It's a fuccking cartoon. :|
-
That was good! Even if they lose or something, I appreciate that all the girls took action. Say what you want about Manshelly's way of fighting it IS a way of fighting. I also really liked that Rebecca said that she had to fight, too. It's the small things - even if she loses, it isn't just putting her on a backburner, she has the right to fight, which was my problem with the Diamante fight. Same for Viola. I appreciate the idea behind it all, you know. Some series don't even do that.
I also really like that there is a limit to Mansherry's powers. It was a good chapter.
-
Two comments on this thread:
1. They don't all go beat on Doflamingo because by the time they manage that, the bird cage would've contracted enough to kill shittons of civilians.
2. "Fujitora being unable to annihilate bird cage means that Doflamingo is admiral-level!". Like hell. If anything, it's an indication that power levels don't exist in One Piece. Fights and events in One Piece are not mathematically determined by a precise power level, they depend on context, situation, power interactions, or type of power used. Consider, for example, that Robin has a faster reaction time than Luffy, a Mr. 3 with trained powers could defeat Magellan, that Usopp has a longer range than Luffy, that Luffy can defeat Enel, and so on.
There are "power estimates", where you can guess power, but these cannot be used to calculate the results of the actual events. Just because Fujitora is supposed to have some "higher power level" crap, doesn't mean that he insta-owns everything Doflamingo can do.
-
Yeah why complain it's a cartoon so it doesn't need to make sense. Also everyone complaining doesn't have a point and didn't even post arguments. Those guys are of course all jerks how dare they.

Where's Cavendish and what is he doing?
Two princesses in distress. Two personalities.
