An entire chapter just to push. Oh wow.
That's every chapter for Mangapanda… they push out shit and fill the text bubbles with it every week
Though it has improved 1% in recent weeks (when they get the page order right)

Wasnt Law trying to buy time, why is Viola alone with Dofla all of a sudden? And what's stopping Mansherry's tears to heal Dofla (or Luffy) since they are all over the place? And I cant believe Fujitora wouldnt be able to blow the damn cage away with his powers if he tried.
Oda, finish this arc already and stop stretching it.
Everything keeps moving along (literally) but some interesting nuggets.
The only really fresh top-level fighters on the island are Fujitora, the Wano swordsman and Zoro. But it was nice to see some of the gladiators pitching in. Maybe Shaman Mummy has something up his sleeve.
We haven't seen Fujitora use his powers much in the way of subtlety, but he had his sword out here so perhaps this may have changed.
Could he be using gravity to anchor the factory so it can't be moved?
I cheered seeing Viola face-off against Dofla. Hoping she gets one good hit in before being beaten.
Rebecca though, ughh. She is the worst. Even her aunt is standing against Dofla and what's she doing? Standing there, crying. She makes Shirahoshi look stoic and is about as much use. Less.
If she gets one final, game-changing hit in on Dofla it's going to really upset me seeing how so many have bled for her.
Dressrosa will be better off once they put the whole Royal family on a small boat bound for nowhere.
When fuji calls a meteor it has no effect on the bird cage but all of sudden he should be able to effect something someone can control that much bigger.
If fuji can't stop zoro from doing a slash what makes you think he can stop something thing that has the force to push and cut a whole island apart .
Oh please don't bring Zoro vs Fuji into this.
Fuji is an Admiral so yes I believe him alone can stop birdcage if he was serious but that will go against what he said.
And leave it all to be implied, the very thing a lot of people are complaining about with post-timeskip One Piece?
If this chapter was omitted, I'd be pissed. This is what just comes with the weekly territory sometimes; not all chapters can be Big name reveal!! All your favorite characters kick ass!! Info dump about Void Century!! etc. This is the glue that holds the more interesting stuff together. One Piece is a series intent on thoroughness.
what would be implied ? , the warriors pushing the birdcage which we already knew from last chapter or luffy still not regaining conscious ! the chapter simply didn't add anything that we didn't know of and didn't progress the current plot in any way
i can get when ppl try to defend a slow paced chapter with a typical liners like "this is what you get from week to week reads " but sometimes you have to admit a chapter is bad specially when it's that bad
A chapter like this was honestly expected. Birdcage is the #1 priority right now and since Luffy isn't on his feet now, that is the focus of almost the entire chapter.
Note that the chapter is still going in "real time" like the last one, though not quite as much time passed. What is notable, however, is that "time's up" for the birdcage–it was suppose to have killed everyone by now which means the plan has worked
Best part is the Dressrosians not just sitting by waiting for some foreigners to solve their problems, but actively getting involved in saving their country. This includes Violet making a suicidal stand against Doflamingo which also confirms that every colloseum fighter was defeated by Doflamingo. Kinda sad that Rebecca is still being useless, but hopefully the next chapter shows here buying some time fighting Der Mingo in a suicidal gesture. Sure, it'll probably only buy Luffy something like 5 seconds, but it would still be helpful.
As for criticisms, I would agree with everyone that birdcage is seriously OP, no question. It being indestructible is acceptable, but not even thousands of people including some insanely strong dudes plus and admiral can only just barely stop it? My god, that's one god-like attack.

Haha that gif made me laugh harder than I should. But this chapter wasn't nothing, we had progress and Viola and Doflamingo meeting was interesting.
Purple guy sure seem lackadaisical about the whole thing.
His men seem way more worried about sudden, shredder induced, death than he is.
Rebecca crying at the end.. is that mean Viola she's already down? did he kill her? I don't think Oda will do that, most likely Luffy will awake and beat Doffy before that happen :ninja:
I think that Oda's in a position now where…
Small arcs were done at the beginning of One Piece
Now, as is common in mangas (especially ones that've gone on this long), they have to get longer, and have more crazy stuff happen within that length
All that's the easy part… Oda now has to keep this length from feeling too long
To do that, he creates mini-"ends"… for example, Luffy grabbing Ceasar early on... Luffy reaching Doflamingo/Law early on, then getting ejected from the palace... Luffy "defeating" Doflamingo, but not really... etc etc
Now he's used up all his mini-endings, such that no more would be accepted by the readers, and we're waiting for the real finish... so it's going to have that extra bit of length with nothing else to break it up. In this case, though, the "time limit" thing is what keeps the reader going, knowing it won't last forever
Sort of like quest chains in RPGs... they're broken up into different parts, and they rope you into doing "just one more thing"... and this time you can see where it ends. (Probably)
That's not in favor or against anything done in the writing, it's just an analysis of the situation
Just because it happens in other manga doesn't make it any better. A lot of us love Dragon Ball Z but despise how there were entire episodes where almost nothing happened.
You've never read the manga. So no.
And this is the worst One Piece chapter I've read in my life. Forget the cause and attack the disease, great.
Oh please don't bring Zoro vs Fuji into this.
Fuji is an Admiral so yes I believe him alone can stop birdcage if he was serious but that will go against what he said.
Why should i not bring a eg of one strongest physical characters we have seen in OP beating his gravity .
Being admiral don't make you all powerful or what effect would a gravity barrier have on the island .
But i guess in your mind he has barrier that has the force to stop the cage while having no effect what so ever on his surroundings .
Oh hello guys i think you're all fools but let me help a bit. Not that stepping in sooner would have been my job but hey!! Now it seems to make sense. Yours sincerely Fuji.
Seriously riku is not crying anymore. He is surprised someone is actually doing something. That's progress i guess. Viola is about to get murdered. Rebecca cries again. Wold Kyros please step in and end the Kyros family drama?
You know, after being introduced as "a princess with a bad attitude that no one likes", it feels weird that we end up with White Mage Maiden Mansherry literally crying the countrys pain better because "thats all she can do"
what would be implied ? , the warriors pushing the birdcage which we already knew from last chapter or luffy still not regaining conscious ! the chapter simply didn't add anything that we didn't know of and didn't progress the current plot in any way
We knew the limitations of Mansherry's power and that Viola was going to confront Doflamingo?
Chapters like this are very much needed. The full culmination of the push against Bird Cage is finally showing success, which is highly important due to how much of a focus it has had in the past few chapters. It'd be cheap for the character's efforts to be off paneled and cut straight to Luffy recovering and going in for that final hit, especially after all the buildup.
And Viola (who has just been standing around for the past 30 chapters announcing the results of fights and the progress of the Bird Cage) actually getting a character defining moment and doing something is quite nice (even though she won't win, she isn't just standing around hoping for others to take care of things for her).
Waaaay too many panels of people just yelling PUSH and such. Obvious Oda was gonna stretch out the last few minutes, but that was still really bad. I can just imagine what the equivalent anime episode is gonna be like.
I can't see Viola actually being able to do much against Doffy. Maybe if we're lucky Rebecca will come in to defend her as some sort of growth or whatever.
Man i sooo wanted to see riku stepping up and facing doflamingo like a real king. But he seems to afraid of doing anything.
Boring, boring, and more boring. So Oda is more than willing to skip 20 minutes of the Luffy vs. Doflamingo fight, but now we need a whole chapter basically showing everyone press against the Birdcage?
Would you rather see more extended action of a fight that wouldn't actually go anywhere, or progression for pretty much every character in the arc?
Oh please don't bring Zoro vs Fuji into this.
Fuji is an Admiral so yes I believe him alone can stop birdcage if he was serious but that will go against what he said.
he was serious , nothing suggested that he wasn't not even his expressions , power levels are irrelevant to this being an admiral doesn't magically solve all your problems
@Daz:

To be fair, that description came from Leo, whom she mistreats because she has a crush on him. No one else really said anything bad about her.
I can't see Viola actually being able to do much against Doffy. Maybe if we're lucky Rebecca will come in to defend her as some sort of growth or whatever.
She was already forced to do nothing against her mothers murderer why would she do anything against doffy? She is there to make luffys reentrance heroic. Or viola is thedamsel in distress which means Rebecca is even more useless .
we had progress and Viola and Doflamingo meeting was interesting.
That is undoubtedly the most significant thing here. What this sets up is that
-The last of the colosseum fighters sent to stop Doflamingo are completely defeated
-With 1 minute to go, there is virtually no one left to hold Doflamingo back except for Violet & Rebecca
-Violet is presumed defeated at the 1 minute mark, leaving only Rebecca to stand up to him
-There is hardly any other back-up present. Kyros will most likely show up, as might King Riku. Sabo is occupied and Koala, while free, has literally no reason to make such a suicidal gesture against Doflamingo and may be busy doing further intel gathering.
I am very hopeful we may actually get Rebecca to do something useful in the next chapter. Futile it may be, helping to pre-occupy Doflamingo is a significant gesture and may lead to some notable character development on her part. I'd be very surprised if she just stood by while her aunt gets horribly brutalized by a pissed off Doflamingo.
This manga is so old yet some people keep on thinking it is/should be centered around fights. It's not and it never has been, move on guys.
She was already forced to do nothing against her mothers murderer
To be fair, that was with her father (who's whole shtick is preserving his daughter's innocence) shouting at her not to fight.

Yes. It should be more like Fairy Tail.
Mansherry's "bad attitude" is their way of saying she's spoiled & pampered. Hence the humorous line from the beetle guy saying sarcastically "yeah, that's definitely something you'd do"
She was already forced to do nothing against her mothers murderer why would she do anything against doffy? She is there to make luffys reentrance heroic. Or viola is thedamsel in distress which means Rebecca is even more useless .
I said it could be for some sort of growth, like she could realize she was useless against Diamante and finally do something useful now since her aunt is about to get string'd by a flamingo. But that's if we're lucky, because I doubt Oda would do that and will instead just have Luffy come save the day in the nick of time god this conclusion sucks.
Why are none of the gladiators going after Doffy? Stop him you stop the bird cage simple.
just as i predicted in the spoilers thread, another bullshit filler chapter without any actual progress. enough is enough, just finish this arc already
Come on guys give the dressrosa citizens some credit .
How many arcs have there been where the island was is danger and the citizens did nothing to help stop it.
And these people have been thru hell in the last hour comapre to others .
@here:

Wow good job
you are the best
To be fair, that was with her father (who's whole shtick is preserving his daughter's innocence) shouting at her not to fight.
And even when she was forced to protect herself against diamantes attack robin saved her out of nowhere. The not fighting philosophy from riku and Kyros (let me fight for you Rebecca ) leads to screwed moments as seen in this manga. Can't they see that in desperate situations where everyone even the provence king fights for their lives its time to do the same? I'm not getting Odas message here. It simply doesn't make sense.
It is weird that Admiral is not fighting Doflamingo himself at this point. But it will probably be explained by some politic bullstuff.
Filler chapter that doesn't make sense plotwise if you think about it. Everyone is trying to stop the birdcage and yet Viola of all people is the only one actually trying to stop Doflamingo. I was at least expecting some of the revived Gladiator guys to hold off Doflamingo while Luffy recovered. Zoro I can understand since he doesn't want to take over Luffy's fight but guys like Sai/Cavendish/Chinjao/Ideo/etc./etc. not stalling Doflamingo doesn't make sense. Hell, Kyros did his whole watching over Rebecca speech and yet he is nowhere to be found while Rebecca is in front of Doflamingo.
Biggest wtf offender is Mansherry. Mansherry was Doflamingo's back up plan. Uh, Doflamingo has CoC and can fly. Should she really be flying around unprotected like that going around healing people with her tears. What if her tears gets on Doflamingo? Why isn't she healing Luffy or Law?
Brightside though is Dressnamekrossa birdcage subplot should be over next chapter. I don't really think Oda would turn 1 minute into 2 chapters.
Wonder what Law's plan is now then? One would assume that it's about his doctor skills and not his fighting skills.
Maybe it's some life transfer technique in the same vein as the oh so spooky eternal life technique.

That would require Rebecca not doing anything for a whole minute, which would be incredibly shitty. This chapter set her up to do something in 789, no matter how futile, against Doflamingo and I expect it to follow through.
Hell, at this point Rebecca simply running away sobbing while keeping Doflamingo in pursuit (thus buying Luffy some time) would be an improvement.
Man this was unusually intense. Even though I am on the "just get it over with" bandwagon I felt this chapter was thrilling and interesting enough, I really got a sense of the characters' desperation, a great way for the time to be spent before Luffy comes back.
meh chapter 16 charac

I expect the worse. Here's my dumb prediction. Haki transfer. It only works for the D.s
Fuji could take care of Dofla himself but he put his bet on Luffy so he won't interfere. But I wonder what he will do once Dofla is down, because his actions may have huge consequences.
Also, if Dofla touches Viola, I can totally imagine Sanji coming out of nowhere breaking inside the cage thanks to some magical trick…
I expect the worse. Here's my dumb prediction. Haki transfer. It only works for the D.s
He'll grow a new arm, with ambition. And use that ambitious arm to pummel double D for oh so many seconds.
Like 90 seconds or so.

Good gif.
Shit post.
Fujitora's position is pretty unique in this case. It's clear he is "not authorized" to engage Doflamingo personally, but what if the Birdcage shrunk to the point where how own life were in danger? Was the man seriously preparing to give his own life and sacrifice all his mento follow those orders to the letter? Or would he be forced to deal with Doflamingo for the sake of the survival of himself and his men?
This is nice with everyone pushing the birdcage and all…but it would be much more simple if everyone and their mother on Dressrosa would team up on almost defeated Doflamingo, they would have better chance. Wish Oda would explain that.
This section is so full of retarded posts I don't know where to start. There are users here t
whose posts make it feel they just started reading One Piece. But I long stopped trying to make sense of it, so fuck off.
The chapter was great and it kept the tension previous chapter ended with.
I cheered seeing Viola face-off against Dofla. Hoping she gets one good hit in before being beaten.

Viola is Rebecca's aunt, not sister.

Well most people are not going to run to there immediate death lol
And i still think a half dead don good enough to kill most of the stronger characters there .
He might need one more hit to go down but if it is something really powerful half characters there not going to cut it .
I could accept the explanation of everybody slowing the birdcage down instead of fighting dofla if doflamingo would be f.e fighting someplace which is hard for everybody to reach, in example in the sky etc.
But at the moment he isnt even having any opponent (besides viola lol) and he's, like, standing there in the middle of town. And so everybody, strong or weak, decide to turn their backs to him and start pushing the cage instead??
Its like if there would be some shithead kid smashing your windows one by one with baseball-bat and everything you would do is to follow him and clean the shards from the ground :D
