So according to Weeble's mom, blackbeard and his crew don't even amount to 1 billion bellies lol.
No, she's saying revenge won't get you even a single beli. 1b = 1 beli, not a billion

Hmm? Wish I had known the origins of Weevil?
So in the color page, "Eat to live not live to eat," that sounds like massive forshadowing and reemphasizing of the samurai trouble or atleast the outcome of their troubles. The way Kinemon, Momonusuke and even Kanjurou approaches food, which is rather interesting and sad, well perhaps there's more reason why Sanji got taken in by them so fast. Considering his own past, hope it was not to make a meal out of zo though , is the samurai reason for heading there.
I am hoping Jimbei, Weeble and cesear will at some point be part of the core strawhats along with Handcock of course. Cesear will be their mad scientist which they have as hostage for the series, Jimbei will join no doubts but, Weeble character is insanely impressive, he has no crew, i bet he has some dream, after all that time in Impel down, wonder if his mom was with him or was always free.
And what are the chances that after Fujitora single handely handled Jack, the world government offers him freedom on the condition he accepts position as Warlord, could be similar to the fat dude with vikings get up in that early shikabukai get up sketch. Below what is perceived as Weeble's inspiration.
Do those color pages usually have clues?
Weeble, Whitebeard's wannabe as the hyped up 7th Shichibukai…
the man who cut off Z's arm
is a fatboy
...
.
It could also be since they are fakes that the mom and son mistakenly choose the wrong order of the name.
That's what I was thinking.
Perhaps Bakkin mistakenly thought Edward was the last name when naming him.
Another possibility is that Edward is actually Weevil's first name, named after his supposed father (looking back, Bakkin did not refer to Weevil by either name during the whole scene).
Meh.. I rather judge on the information currently given. I will change my opinion if new information talk on his favor and make a compelling case.
The right moment? 2 years ago, he had 14 commanders and the grief over Whithebeard to make a good hunting team with the allies. Now Blackbeard has a better mastery of his fruits, a stronger crew and is continuing getting power. Seems like he lost his chance actually.
We'll wait then
Remembering whitebeards last wish as he sacrificed himself for his sons to escape it sort of makes sense. Why would marco lead his men(that WB died to keep alive) to go fight blackbeard.
Yes avenging WB does seem poetic, but the moment blackbeard got the gura gura no mi hw would always win.
From a leaders point of view, marco would be leading them to pointless deaths imo.

Whithebeard also lead them to marineford when one of theirs was in danger and made a reputation of aveging his sons. I doubt he he wanted Marco to let the territory(which are countries full of people) go without a fight.

Against 14 commanders and allies, I doubt it would be easy. But I'm not saying Marco would have won. I'm saying he should have act and you seem to agree he didn't.
Didn't the elder on Boa Hancock's Island say something about falling in love, getting the love sickness? This new old hag looks like that elder, is it possible she was infatuated with Whitebeard the same way Boa is with Luffy, but taking it to a whole new level pretending to have a son?
This was a good chapter!
Loved Zou, recalls me from that sci-fi novel with the city above turtles. I suppose the elephant was the one on Florian Triangle 2 years ago. Void Century info must be on his body, i hope.
Don't give a shit about the Shichibukai, after Doflamingo, Shichis aren't worth enemies anymore.
The scene with the gum was incredible funny, also Franky's stare on the God
I really doubt they've put a giant rock on a 200 years old elephant. That seems quite an unsecure and hazardous place.
Anyone have the page from thriller bark where it talks about zou? I don't remember it
Is Chopper able to talk with the huge elephant?
I can imagine a flashback of the elephant telling Chopper his story…
In what chapter is that flashback you mentioned? Could you link it? The name could just as well be a joke about the fake Whitebeard jr. not being a good fake.
Edit: nvm I found it. Someone does call him Newgate, but like Daz Bonez being called Daz pre timeskip, this could be his family name then as well.
his name is newgate,no way around it really after this chapter…that being a joke would fit..if it wasn't that there's no one in the manga that finds it strange..such glaring mistake its impossible not to notice by the people in the story...
it's just oda that doesn't grasp perfectly western names
Is Chopper able to talk with the huge elephant?
I can imagine a flashback of the elephant telling Chopper his story…
they never gave any limitation of his ability to talk to animals..so yes
only possible difference if he "talks" a language too old while modern animals all talk the same for some reason.@Shobu:

no it wasn't…no way for him to pass the red line..also it doesn't look anything like him and the fog on the florian triangle has been there since forever and probably is still there
that creature was just a way from oda to say that the florian triangle was "haunted" well before moria put thriller bark there (he was not responsible for the fog )

Though I most certainly lean towards Newgate being his name, the people in the story most definitely have their suspicions. While the flashback panel makes a great case, this chapter itself doesn't proof anything imo.
The marines literally openly question his validity in front of Kizaru who pretty much agrees, but says it doesn't matter because of his power. The narrator text boxes literally say "self-proclaimed" for Whitebeard Jr. And his mom. The only thing they don't literally say is that his family name is wrong, which wouldn't be a One Piece like thing for people to mention. This situation reminds me a lot of Demalo Black and the fake Strawhats, people don't mention glaring mistakes because they might not know better. See the name Gold Roger. If anything it's a One Piece thing to defy all common sense.

Oh well with the territories im also a little dissapointed to say the truth.
I still think theres a good reason why marco didnt act,but if it ends up being some BS reason ill be pissed.
I think shanks told them not to go after blackbeard similar to how shanks told wbhitebeard to stop ace pursuing him.

well,not really
it's a mistery to US what is wb's first name..but not to the general public or the marines in the manga.
if someone comes saying he is wb's son..but makes a mistake and putts his first name instead of the family one..they are not gonna "have doubts"..they are gonna be 100% sure he is a fake..
it's like if someone comes out telling he is george w. bush's son,and call himself Bush as first name while doing so.
with the fake strawhats the strange fact was that inside of the onepiece world..such a change in appearance in 2 years of timeskip is strangely plausible..
look at how shanks' crew was before and how they were at marineford..at how coby was, merely months before he re-appeared in the story…biology in onepiece works in its own misterious ways, but first and second name seems like they work just like ours.
I think he means those Oda put as admiral in the manga. Not simply those that would qualify by the marine standard.
Isn't he suppose to be? It's a rare fruit shooting shockwave.
Anyway it seems the admiral theme don't go with the fleet admiral(neither a logia or have the color+animal naming).
Garp is associated and was introduced with the dog theme while Sengoku is almost always shown in combination with a goat, seagull and now a gorilla though.

Elder Nyon (Gloriosa) was talking about 'love sickness' as a disease that affects the Kuja empresses. The love sickness is when the lady falls in love with a man and suppress their feelings, they will weaken, be in pain and their health decline to the point of death. To survive the Empress has so accept her emotions (admit she's fallen in love with a man) and 'follow their love' (leave the island)
So far only Gloriosa have survived love sickness (meaning its over, there's no man there with her loving on him)
Hancock is still be in love with Luffy and still empress.
Since Gloriosa is only former empress said to have survived love sickness, I doubt Miss Bekkett (SP?) is same as Gloriosa = a former Kuja empress that had love sickness. More likely she's just some cruel hag taking advantage of the mentally challenged "Jr."

No, that's an assumption, not at all based on facts. A fact we do know however is that the most famous persons' name was perceived wrong; Gold Roger. A person who doesn't even have a nickname that's more famous than his real name aka Shirohige and is more famous than Shirohige on top of that.

He got thin legs, some fat and is still mostly muscle, so I think you don't know what you are talking about. For once Oda uses someone with something resembling a power lifter stature instead of 10%bf stature that's highly unrealistic and he get's dissed… Sadly he's mentally impaired though.
Is it that hard to accept that Oda doesn't really give afuck if the surename is in front or the back? Some characters have their surname in front, some in the back. That discussion isn't worse than the Zorro vs Sanji one, but it seems some members would like to turn it so.
But you will surely have to put a gun on my head to force me to accept that Newgate isn't his family name. :> Charlotte ''Big Mum'' Linlin is written the same isn't it? Someone willing to argue that Charlotte isn't her surname?

???
Weeble's torso is obese, so are his arms, and his head. (that jowl lol)
@S.C.:
Huh. You think with Oda's love of huge characters, we would have seen a Whale fishman by now.
Maybe cuz Whales are Mammals…not fish.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
@Miss:
Three things:
1: We actually got confirmation now that an entire week has gone by. That means that Big Mom's "tea party" – if it ever was an important event -- is long over now.2: Oda basically threw the anime team a huge bone this chapter in terms of pacing. Anime watchers should definitely expect a filler arc after Dressrosa now.
and 3: You just know Chopper is gonna have a big role in this Zou arc. He's probably being worshiped as a God or something a la C3PO.
oda has Throne them bones in Dressrosa itself only for the anime team to not truly capitalize on it so I don't predict they'll do much
Fat and muscly at the same time, that's what he looks like, but to reduce him to a fatty only? Why? Of course it's exaggerated, but his arms of course look morphed, since his hand won't grow to keep the ratio look normal. Like this, just with a layer or three of fat. Not saying like he looks good in any way though. :P
just gonna leave this here o.o
Woah! What is that?
Edit: nvm I see it

Wait, so you think Linlin is a surname, but can't accept that Newgate could be a surname as well?
Here's a little something:
Octopuses could broadly be looked at as fish-like in Oda's mind. But Whales? No.
Octopuses could broadly be looked at as fish-like in Oda's mind. But Whales? No.
I think the problem isn't about "being looked at as fish-like in Oda's mind" (I was never there though), but about ability to breath under water, cephalopods can and mammals can't. I just wanted to point out that fishmen aren't necessarily fishes.
BTW Fred isn't an octopus.
Quite a foreshadowing from 569 lol.

Nah, the 7th shichibukai was suppose to be a force to reckon with along with supposely being wb's son but he looks like a doofus which took a huge hit to the character himself.
Surname usually goes first. Like Edward, Newgate. Oda just doesn't use any commas.

You act like it's rare that fat characters in One Piece can be highly powerful. Oda hardly ever has the body match the ability. 90% of the characters have skipped leg day alone lol. If the character's bodies matched the damage output people would look like JoJo or Toriko characters.

I'm just saying the long awaited hyped up Last Shichibukai's design is ugly.

Pretty much all of the major players in the new world are butt ugly.
They stronger you are, the uglier your look
no, that is incorrect.
if the man dies, his 'shadow' dies with him and so does the zombie…that's why moria didn't just kill luffy after he took his shadow.. and why all the guys moria took the shadows from were free around the world.
Wrong. In the War Summit Moria stated that Oars Jr will become his zombie even if his body is death.
I'm just saying the long awaited hyped up Last Shichibukai's design is ugly.
Ah. I'd say I feel ya. I get you though, but he didn't seem hyped at all to me. He was hardly mentioned by anyone of note. I don't really count the movie. But I sorta kept forgetting there was another Shichibukai lol. DD was really the last one that felt like a real threat. Buggy knows he can't fight Luffy. Boa won't fight Luffy. Law's out of the club. Kuma is probably getting another overhaul so he'll give them a good fight. But he'd probably not have any personal motivation. Hawkeye is really only meant for Zoro. Moria isn't really one of them?
I'm not too surprised the last of a group at least one of the Admiral's is trying to get rid of has a wonky design.
Wrong. In the War Summit Moria stated that Oars Jr will become his zombie even if his body is death.
Because he only wanted his corpse.

Dweeble. Haha lol.
Who cares about anything except that Elephant right? Likely conversation with the Strawhats? It's also good to see Kizaru.

Uh no? The Yonkou, Other Shichibukai, Wb Pirates, Worst Generation Supernovas, they all look badass and cool.

Well, most of his hype comes from the movie though, which is canon in Z's flashback. This new shichibukai cut off an ex-admiral's arm and killed all his squadron except for Ainz and Binz; stated to have an extremely powerful df.
Then the recent chapter hypes him up again by Admiral Kizaru's himself but his design is just….ugh.
Wait, so you think Linlin is a surname, but can't accept that Newgate could be a surname as well?]
There was a " n't " missing in both stences. Or I simply mixed them up, why not say first/pre/fore name too? I'm sorry. :/
Quite a foreshadowing from 569 lol.
Could be and could not be at the same time. Could simply be an elephant with a hat saying "elephant" and a elephant jolly roger.

If we are talking about big names, yes, but most of the DR colliseum guys are goofy, weirdos and not exactly "beautiful".

Those groups are full of people who don't look badass and cool like Jinbei. Who looks like a chubby little goombah. Or like the walking buttplug that is Moriah. Or doofy ass Kizaru, the seemingly drooling monstrosity that is Big Mom, the filty, scruffy sack of fat that is Blackbeard, hunchbacked and deformed Doffy, whatever the hell Apoo is, Lucky Roux, Marco and his damn butters face, Jozu, or pretty much just any of Whitebeards commanders who all look more or less silly, If anything the truly "cool looking" characters like Law are in a minority at the top. Goofy, strange, ugly or just plain weird looking dudes are plenty at the top. And just to be clear i love all of these creative and fun designs, they just aren't "cool" or "badass"

Edit: Weeble looks by far the worst though, in my opinion of course..

As i see it they become threatening and intimidating through their actions and demeanor.
But visually Kizaru for instance looks like someones senile old uncle, not like the walking disaster he is

I love that Kizaru and the admirals looks are closely based on real people, that's what makes them look way more badass and not cookie cutter basic anime styled like Luffy or Law. Part of that design is the way they carry themselves with the jacket on the back, looking confident as hell. Not ever having the typical worried/angry/scared face also helps with this.
@jabso:

Well there's a difference between a solo vendetta and an organized force. I mean Blackbeard is the only exception ever did since Ace wouldn't be able to handle(always hated that part but wathever)
And more importantly there's a difference between protecting those you are suppose to and going after a fleeing enemy.
@S.C.:
Question: Would an ability that turns someone into a plant be a Logia or a Zoan? Plants are a part of nature, but they also are living things, which could technically make them be classified as Zoans, so I'm a bit curious to see how it could go.
Plants are living things, of course. However, in the Japanese language plants actually are treated as non-living things. So I could imagine them to be considered lifeless objects - or considering the concept of animism that they possess a soul just like any non-living object.

Don't get me wrong. Law is by far the worst and most boring design in OP.
But he is THE definition of what a typical cool character looks like.
Fat and ugly people are not allowed to be strong? Only good looking characters should be allowed to shine? In most mangas when someone attractive shows up you already know that they will be either strong or important in some manner, but in one piece anyone can be worth something: wether they're ugly, pretty, slim, fat, young or old.
People looked down on the Dressrosa Colosseum guys saying that they were all just fodder, and now half of them are part of the Strawhat grand fleet. I didn't care about Senor Pink given his design, but when the truth came out I changed my mind about it, and i feel ashamed to have thought so many bad things about him. Bartolomeo too didn't struck me at first with his design, but given enough time now I love him so much. In the same way, i didn't care about Law at first despite his handsomeness, but now I like him after his character was revealed to us.
Now with Weeble i wonder what will happen, but i sure don't look down on him just because he's fat and ugly. Maybe I will if he will be revealed to be an awful character too, or not if he will turn out to be awesome, it's just too early to give a proper thought about him
