Zoro: Policeman
Nami: Child Care Person
Usopp: Graphic Designer
Sanji: Beautician
Chopper: Teacher in elementary school
Robin: Flight Attendant
Franky: Pilot
Brook: DetectiveFlight Attendant? Really, Oda? -_-
- Whitebeard wouldn't allow his ship's doctors (women) to fight as combatant.
That's why he didn't take them to Marinfeford war. He was prepared for death…
Hmph, I thought as much. -_-
Anyway, thanks a bunch for SBS translations, sandman!!
-
What's wrong with being a flight attendant? I think it suits Robin.

Sewage worker suits her better.
One might think it's degrading, but someone just has to take care of all the dirt, mud and… mucus.
!
In all seriousness though, I was a bit irritated by "flight attendant" as well. There is nothing wrong with being a flight attendant, but one would think Oda picks a job for her that involves gaining or spreading knowledge. Maybe librarian or so.
But I think Skadi nailed it, Franky being the pilot must be the reason why. Also thanks for your work sandman, appreciated!

It's right there, underneath the list.
Luffy: Fire Fighter
Zoro: Policeman
Nami: Child Care Person
Usopp: Graphic Designer
Sanji: Beautician
Chopper: Teacher in elementary school
Robin: Flight Attendant
Franky: Pilot
Brook: Detectivenote: Oda found an answer to this question in the fan letter of other reader and he just agreed with it…

This list of jobs is pretty dumb. Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky and Brook at least already have positions on the ship that would translate just fine into the real world.
-
I think the idea was to give them different jobs
-
Robin the shit cleaner!
Freaking hilarious, good sir!

I'm guessing that the obvious answer is that a profession different from the one they already have.
Comercial boats also need navigators.

Archeologist is not real life jobs?

Real Life jobs
I think there are a few doctors, archaeologists, shipbuilders, chefs, navigators, and musicians who'd disagree with your definition of "real life" jobs.

Could someone tell me what the changed kanji is about?
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B52cAJZCYAEZyPi.jpg
It's basically the same meaning.
In the previous panel I'd translate what Qwin says as "Release me!" or "Get away!", while in the changed one she says something that sounds like "Hands off!".
But it is really a small change in meaning. -
I think they just changed the kanji from "separate" (in the top panel) to "release" (in the bottom panel).

There are apparently a few more minor changes in the script. Is there anything worth mentioning?

The one with Dellinger is just a fix to Suleiman's epithet. the one in the volume is "Beheader" (which is, of course, the right epithet), the one in the magazine could probably be translated as "decapitator".
The one with Bartolomeo is just changing the font on the sfx to make it clear that it is sfx
I'm not good enough in japanese to comment on the Usopp panel
-
I think the Kanjuurou one is just "Why am I drawing this" to "Why are you having me draw this"
The Bartolomeo one also added more foam to his mouth
-
The panel with Kanjuro and Usop in the magazine version says "Why have you drawn such a thing?" while in the tankobon version says "Why did you want me to draw such a thing?"
The other two are just as the people above me said.

Hattori…??!
Translation. I. Need. It.

Hattori…??!
Translation. I. Need. It.
Hattori appears to be totally unrelated to the question… I think?
The reader asks Oda whether he will get himself a Twitter account, and Hattori is there just for fun.
The other questions are about the name of the guy who saved Usopp, and a dwarf's lifespan (150 years).
Or so it appears. -

Thanks!

dwarf's lifespan (150 years).

As always, thanks a bunch, redon! :)

Cute indeedDoes is really says Law's animal theme is a spotted seal??
-
could we get a translation of Oda's message next to the volume cover?
Also, Redon! can you post pics from the One piece 500 quiz book 2? I'm banned from that thread for some reason..
-
Does is really says Law's animal theme is a spotted seal??
"Q: It's a question about Law. There are Penguin, Bepo and Shachi (killer whale) in his crew. So does that mean Law is a spotted seal? His hat's pattern is just like it so….Please tell me!!
Oda: I see (laugh). It's really a series of cold ocean animals. Perhaps his hat looks like a seal. Ok let the answer be so. By the way, In Asakuma Toshio-san's series of One Piece animal figures, Law is chosen as a snow leopard. This one also lives in a cold place."

Holy smokes that cover! So colorful….
SBS thoughts
[hide]Dat female Mihawk
female Jinbei looks like Oda copied Daisy's (the laughing Kuja pirate) face. Almost the same hand gesture.
Luffy: Fire Fighter
Luffy would be overeager to use the fire hose….although his rubber limbs would be good in rescuing trapped people. Who needs a lift?
Zoro: Policeman
Zoro would be competent….when he wouldn't be napping on the job. Lord help us if he was in charge of directing traffic.
Nami: Child Care Person
:)
Usopp: Graphic Designer
Sanji: BeauticianFitting
Chopper: Teacher in elementary school
Aww, this would be cute to see. Chopper teaching the alphabet, sentences….and would have at least five kids trying to hug him per day.
Robin: Flight Attendant
Robin would be very polite and accommodating, great for when:
Franky: Pilot
This guy is driving.
Brook: Detective
Do I smell a spinoff?

I would imagine having medics in the battle of the constant warfare would be cumbersome, what with the magma fists, Pacfista lasers, and other crap flying around.[/hide]

Think Oda might have spoiled which volume the Dressrosa arc is going to end. In his message next to the volume cover it says literally "just 3 more steps till volume 79".

that would give us…25-ish more chapters?

Considering 79 isn't a milestone number (why not 80?), it definitely seems like some big story event is gonna go down.
I can't wait for the world development chapter(s) that will happen when Dressrosa is finished.
-
Actually more 11/12/13 chapters.
Ah, I suppose that would make sense if he's planning on starting a new arc in volume 79.
-

Thats very scarry thought because we might get an update on Sanji on last months on next year.
That would be really bad news for me.This volume has 11 chapters, it ends at chapter 763.
Now we are at chapter 771 so still 2-4(if 12 chaps long volume 77) chapters till end of 77.
78 should be all final fights ending and some final plotlines of Dressrosa resolved + maybe Kaido/Shadow Brokers/Croco or Kidd alliance making move- that means that in around 15 chapters from now we should see…. Sanji wooohooooo
-
Maybe a manga that Oda loves ended up with 79 volumes.
Or maybe there is a word play in Japanese involving Sanji
Hey that doesn't count as a location Sabinis. -

Hey that doesn't count as a location Sabinis.Haha I somehow expected that you will complain at my location Just missing Sanji and wishing him some badass scenes as he already suffered quite a bit in New World.
Those volumes lately rock when it comes to amount of details that Oda puts into every single one of them though would be cool if in next arc we would have a lot going on offscreen so we can get less characters and more intense plot with backgrounds that Oda can draw with detail.
Fishman Island had very fiew characters compared to Dressrosa but some of locations were way more detailed than most of what we see on Dressrosa- at least I lately had such impression. -
Actually more 11/12/13 chapters.
Actually around 20.
Volume 77 will probably go until 772-773.
Volume 78 up to 782-783.
And then 79, which is probably the finale.

What? He meant that in volume 79 the new arc will start. So, Dressrosa should be over in 78.

With pace we have now finale should be in volume 79. Most of officers are down or going to be down within volume 77 and big bad of arc should fall within 78, I dont think that fight with Doflamingo will take more than 10 chapters(along with ending most plotlines of Dressrosa).
I would say that we would see next arc starting in volume 79 or Kaido setting Strawhats as his target + Kidd alliance attacking Big Mom.
-
The volume 79 thing I think is just a coincidence, he's talking about the samurai saying about "a wife must walk three steps behind her husband" and then ends it with "Volume 76, three steps behind volume 79!"
-
What? He meant that in volume 79 the new arc will start. So, Dressrosa should be over in 78.
Is that what he really meant?
If it's supposed to be a countdown, it should be a countdown for the end, not for whatever comes after.
Also, the new arc could very well start at the last chapter of the volume.
-

I don't know. Just what I believe he meant.
-
Obviously 79 will feature the fight against the 3 members of the CP0
-
after the fights with Doflamingo and his officers are finally over, Luffy will need a volume or two to gather the dragon balls and revive the crewmates and friends who obviously perished fighting bigmom´s crew

This seems more likely than literally everything else that's been said about it. People are reading too much into something they barely even have a translation for.

Wano kuni for vol 79
