Interesting, I don't remember the part of her getting imprisoned? Did she not volunteer for the prize itself or was it written somewhere that DD put her in prison?! That actually makes more sense.

The chapter she talked to Luffy then tried to fight him but her heart wasn't in it. Remember those guys in the cells? The coliseum gladiator prisoners? that same chatper said Rebecca was one of them. Luffy even commented that she didnt' look like prisioner … meaning she wasn't chopped up and missing limbs like the guys in the cells.

We've not seen when she was caught and sent to fight in the coliseum.
But I do think she volunteered to fight in this fight

Melker, frugality is a value that all of must possess to make our way through the temptations of everyday life. Though these Toei folks may be overly frugal, their not-even-giving-the-animators-a-shredded-Yen attitude has brought us the uninspired mess that we get to enjoy today. The subpar quality of this frankly flat adaptation allows us to have just that little shred of hope that one day it will get better.

A running theme in One Piece is that heritage doesn't matter and everyone has the chance to live their own life independent of the wrongs their parents have done. Would be strange for someone's ambition to be determined by their lineage. Strength makes sense to a degree, but being string willed is a personal trait. I'll admit at least in the Monkey and Roger family we've seen a correlation but that's not a guaranteed thing.

Ya know if we try to find someone to fit the young Luke as he was in the 1st movie (that was seen), many OP fans would get pissed since Luffy doesn't fit but Usopp does Both Luke & Usopp fit the unskilled village boy that travels on a quest and becomes a hero. (Usopp is still on his journey so not fulfilled the quest yet)

underlined is why it automatically disqualifies Luffy, he left his home island with some training and already had great fighting skills

The he leaves the village behind going on a quest, it could be a mission or a search for adventure.

After several misadventures, good and bad events, he comes across a wise old mentor who so happen to live in an isolated region (be it island or swampy planet) who takes him in for some time.

After training with wise old mentor the hero comes back but is more than the boy he once was, he is more closer to manhood and far better with battle skills. But his skills are not the final stage and he still has some growing to do. There are some moments he totters on the edge, perhaps seen as 'backtracking' but will find is place again and continue on.

Eventually the hero finalizes the quest. This is why I refuse to write off Usopp like some have His quest is still happening (to become a brave warrior of the sea and to become a real King of Snipers so he can support Luffy's quest to become Pirate King)

Yes we did. Chinjao vs Luffy fight and yeah against strong opponents CoC is of useless.
Of course if it was Luffy fighting in the last round, he could just use CoC and tame that fish to easily get the Mera fruit

I don't know for sure if CoC can be used in other ways, it would be a wasted plot device if it can't be. I read a theory that CoC could be used to weaken the CoA of your opponent (and maybe even disrupt their CoO). I suppose the Luffy vs DD and Luffy vs BB (I'd be surprised if BB doesn't have CoC) will be the real test of CoCs potential

on page 14 it says Rebecca : (Coloseum's FULLTIME GLADIATOR) so yeah, she's a prisoner

we didn't see the fight , just scenes of it , and it wasn't even a tough one .. i have no doubt CoC is very usefull against strong opponents

for one thing we know that it can be merged with attacks , thor elephant gun is an example

and we will see more of its uses in DD's fight , oda didn't give doflamingo CoC just to knock out marine fodders

okay i had this vision just now. sounds dumb but, what if , during a match, Sabo and Rebecca take a bite from the fruit at the same time. and only one of them will get the powers and it will be rebecca. as in for e.g Rebecca somehow grabs the box, opens it with speed and gets ready to take a bite, and while she does that, sabo uses his super speed to grab it from her, using his mouth. and they end up biting the fruit at the same time lol.

If I remember correctly his bounty was 300 million pre timeskip.

After the War it raised to 400, we only see this after the Time Skip but it happened earlier.

It stands to reason CoC can be used for more than just "overwhelming presence", seeing how Shanks' Haki was damaging Moby Dick with only a slight effort.

You know, since we didn't really see Luffy fighting an enemy who is a real threat to him, I wonder if he actually developed a way to use CoC against strong opponents. Hody was nothing, CC would really have no chance if Luffy went all out from the start. I want to see a fight in which any wrong move could cost him victory, like with Lucci.

Well after the separation it was the time that they learned about him in Impel Down but they do not believe that he was able to escape from there, after he show up into Marineford they had no time to raise his bounty and in the end of the war they was not sure if he had survived or not, his reappearance at Marineford and the bell incident was the final blow for the increase of his bounty

my expectation is zoro will fight Pica and Luffy will fight Doflamingo and when he's about to lose our fav admiral will come attack Doflamingo, as violet will have shown him all the things she's seen Doflamingo do over the years and he'll have enough evidence to stop attack them (with some comment about how she allowed even a blind man to see what was wrong with this country)

then Bastille will stop fighting Franky and help attack the doflamingo executives

and we'll see what happens from there

I believe there absolutely has to be more to CoC for as much hype as it has received in the past. While the ability to nuke fodder enemies with one's mere presence is pretty incredible, when Luffy demonstrated this ability in Marineford, all focus was devoted to him by both sides, from such big names as well. And Shanks and WB's titanic clash, in addition to Luffy clashing with Chinjao makes me believe that there's a LOT more power to the CoC ability than we've seen. I can only imagine it's true capabilities, but I'd be incredibly disappointed if all the hype was for the ability to wipe out weaklings en masse. As for Zoro vs Fujitora, him fighting him blindfolded would be a cool fight, but if he was to impose such a handicap, I imagine he'd be fighting Fujitora wayyyy down the line. Regardless, I highly doubt Fujitora will be fought in this arc or saga. If an admiral is to be beaten by the strawhats, I imagine it'd be Kizaru vs Luffy at some point in the future since that's the admiral he's had the most close-encounters with.

I'm just picturing Stretch Armstrong as Luffy. Though, no one would be able to use them unless directly asked to by Sugar, so it probably won't come into play anyways.

LOL! he'd knock her out with this said CoC also how would they be able to bring him in? aside from being massive, he is not a df user, so they can't just kairosiki-handcuff him and he uses his headbutt for his strongest attacks so even that is useless.

My issue with Becca is currently, she doesn't offer much to the story. Viola got less panel than her and she's been miles useful. I don't know what Oda will do to het in future but so far she's been a waste of space and I will never understand why some like her so much.

And what's really different between Thor Elephant and Elephant is that Luffy falls down from above, pulling his fist downwards, as if it's a falling thunder. The name Thor doesn't instantly mean there was lightning involved. Could just be a fancy metaphor. What can I say… attack names.

The effect is only at the point of impact and it dissapears the next moment. That's not how lightning behaves.

that doesn't make any sense luffy did that dozens of times , he destroyed noah falling from above with elephant gatling gun
the only time he used the word THOR was in "strong world" movie when he delivered lightening from the sky
he called it giant thor axe … lightening is the most plausible explanation
and as i said the effect was similar to that of the CoC clash
