Having some groups also adds aid in organizing things. Why did Oda add several subdivisions in Whitebeards crew? Because it probably eases organizing tasks when there's not just one huge crew who all listen to one guy and one guy only. There really doesn't even need to be a special assignment for each division, most of them might have exactly the same tasks and simply are split because it's easier to control their organization that way.

Yeah, but you'd expect that nearing the end of the manga we'd at least at know what the purpose of each and every one of the divisions was. I still have no clue what the 3rd, 5th and 9th Division's purpose is.

But…what even is melee combat in the context of Soul Society? Melee, by definition is "a confused struggle; especially : a hand-to-hand fight among several people." Well, obviously fighting hand-to-hand makes no sense since the Zanpakuto are the Soul Reapers primary weapon and the only weakness of Hollows, which are practically the only enemies they fight. So I guess I'll just assume that by "melee" they mean close combat with swords. But doesn't that describe the fighting style of pretty much every single Soul Reaper we've seen? Sure, eventually some of them bust out their huge fuck-off attacks that obliterate everything within a 100 yard radius, but most of the rest of the time we do see them fighting in close combat.
I'm just saying, what's the point of having a squad that specializes in melee when that appears to be the necessary and default fighting style of almost every Soul Reaper? What other methods of combat are there?

There is Minato with 0.00000000000001 sec combo attack NOW POWERED WITH SENJUTSU AND KYUUBI (not that he has it now, but doesn't need it either since that speed was pre-biju and senjutsu), First Hokage, Second Hokage although being useless damage wise who can teleport others and sacrifice himself, Gai who can compete with Madara (although spent his juice already)... What we get to see is Kakashi, Sakura? What is next Kakashi will have a power up because his two eyes are together? Now it's possible for him to use his father's secret jutsu which needs enormous amount of chakras?
Sakura be useful already just once and go bait yourself. Seriously, just go and die. Kishi sure doesn't give any fucks whatsoever anymore. Madara being the big evil who's behind everything but is actually just misunderstood because Uchiha love cancer. Naruto having literal Jesus powers, making eyes randomly appear out of nowhere. Explanation?
