How do we find out if she's really dead? I mean, I can already see Monet not appearing anymore and people saying "well maybe she's alive"…

Well, normally if a person is missing for 7 years they're legally dead. But, this is One Piece.

@nodensuke:
Nah, he's d e a d.
Nah. Now that I remember, he probably got medical attention from the staff at the auction house.
-
@Galaxy:
He never came back, did he?
@nodensuke:
Nah, he's dead.
Nope, the guy who bit off his tongue to avoid being sold was alive and kicking in the background a chapter or two later.

Shhh.
He's long gone when he hit the floor.Edit: They were just propping him up for the audience.

I'm actually against her being dead, but voted for it. It's a good way to show the cruelty of the New World, imo..But, like I said in my first post...In a twist of fate the icepick probably just struck the "evil" part of her heart.
-
it would be a good thing if she is really dead (but oda can still make him alive and i think he will have good explanation for it) its just too fishy for me that she got stabbed with an icicle…of all things...
-
i would like her to be dead but she got wings,as we know wings increase your chances of surviving death situations.
ask pell about it .

the icicle doesnt matter , what matters is that she has wings and those wings werent a part of her devil fruit ability which means they will function as a death nulifying ability like pell did .
-
hahahahaha.^^^^cosign bro
-
I can't vote in polls yet but sign me up for "Not Dead."
It'd be really dumb for Oda to start killing characters off for no reason, especially ones as interesting as Monet.
Of course, it's also really dumb to make it keep looking like people are going to die when they don't, but it's the lesser of two evils.

Yup
-
as far as i remember, oda said he doesnt like killing characters because he might need them back for later…. monet got that interesting ability, its still not answered why she let chopper run pass her, who threw the paper, why did he changed her arms into wings (im thinking she's in-love with doflamingo) vergo is doflamingo's vice-captain (i think he fights zoro in dress rosa) nuff said.
-
Put me on for the "not dead" part.

Best thing to assume there is that he received treatment from the staff then.
-
I'm up for this! I'm going with dead.
-
@Galaxy:

They were miracle workers. They treated that in a matter of minutes.
-
The only logical thing is that she's alive, so I'm going with that.

All you have to do is slap a couple of bandages on your wound and you'll be fine.
-
If those who say she died are wrong, then their Avatar should be changed to Pell with the bomb.
If those who say she'll live are wrong, then their Avatar should be changed to Ace being magmafisted.
-
I think she's in the same place as this guy.

Nah. Not embarrassing enough.
-
Voting not dead. Oda never kills characters that he can't squeeze maximum potential character development. Look at Moria, Mr. 3, Mr.2 etc. Not fair that Mr. 3 gets to be the star in one of the biggest arcs and Monet doesn't. Same goes for Vergo.
-
Okay, I see we have a poll now…and, of course, people who have voted without acknowledging the the contest, so, please, if you vote, and you do wish to participate, please express so in the thread.
@RobbyBevard:
She's not dead. But its a silly bet as it might take Oda a long time to show….At what point do you officially decide she'd dead? After the next arc is done and the next set of "where are they now" coverstories has passed?
I have a feeling we'll know sooner rather than later with her, and if we don't well, we wait till we know!
The whole point of this was to turn what would probably have gotten to be a stale and idiotic argument, which, over the course of three weeks, would have eventually turned aggressive, into something silly.Anyway, as punishment, I googled for "the most embarassing picture ever." This is what I found:
[hide][/hide]Any other suggestions?
Md-Martin, I appreciate them, but as Galaxy said, not quite embarrassing enough. -
The difference with Monet's death scene from others is that we see her slump and die…Pell was off panel. This is the same type of situation as Ace.
And let's be realistic, she was willing to die, I think that makes her expendable seeing that if she survived, it would make her sacrifice be for nothing. The crew has plot armor, so giving up her life to kill main characters just to survive in the end would be a cop out.

People that say she's dead should be banned from Arlong Park.
Nah, too cruel. How about an avatar with a dunce cap?–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Replace the face with Pell and it'll be all set to go.
With a dunce cap.
-
How about every post we make for the next month for those who thought she would die, we have to express our undying love for Monet and how she is the best character in One Piece.
-

Ehh. It was kind of the same with Brownbeard though.
He was shot in the face, and we saw him slump over an presumably "die". Chopper even said he was dead (and he's a doctor).
-
Replace the face with Pell and it'll be all set to go.
That's brilliant. Anyone with a photo-editing software care to do so? All of mine is back home…
Add in Hiroy's suggestion as well!
That body, Pell's head, Dunce cap!
-

Nah, too cruel. How about an avatar with a dunce cap?I find this racist to dumb people everywhere…

Maybe for a week, but I feel like that would get annoying to other people real quick. Maybe if it was something in the signature, like "An Odeto Monet" if someone wants to write a short little poem?"
-
-
That's glorious.
-
Eh, I was bored.
-
@Galaxy:
Eh, I was bored.
Dear God! They're both great.
-
I can't believe forgot why I use to love this board.
-
Pell is one of my fave character, I would be mighty fine wearing that sig. Woot woot.
-
We got a bigger problem at our hands you guys… It seems Monets boobs... are nonexistent!
-
I don't think even an OP character can survive a savage heart stabbing.
-
-
this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/56/Harpy.PNG/220px-Harpy.PNG with pell's head.

@Sonic:

It's quite the mystery! Maybe she had boobs made out of snow this whole time?
-
I remembered something regarding the "that's an injury you just can't survive, even in One Piece" argument.
http://www.mangapanda.com/103-2243-10/one-piece/chapter-136.html
You can say it was 95% comedy, and you'd probably be right… but still. Just sayin'.
-
I'm going with dead. I predicted it over two months ago and I'm not going to change that now. We've never seen anyone take sure a devastating shot to such a vital organ before. A stab to the heart? I can understand things like Pell because it was not shown and neither was Bon Kurei's demise. This is the most blatant attack shown and I just can't reason how she'd ever come back. And if she does, OP as great as it is, will lose some points from me. If crappy manga like Naruto and Bleach can kill off even major characters, then OP should at least be able to kill off a minor character in a small, isolated arc. I mean, why has the NW been hyped up for as long as it has because of how dangerous it is if no one (even minor characters) ever dies, even from being stabbed in the heart?
-
Not dead. But keep this in mind: It might take a while, perhaps hundreds of chapters, before we get to know whether she's dead or not. One scenario is that they all leave Punk Hazard before Doflamingo gets there, and we don't get to see what happens there.
-
@Sonic:

Monet was using snow to "fill out" her chest this whole time.
She's actually an A-cup.
-
So where would I fit in if I want her dead but know she's probably going to live?
