I wonder was kidd under the Don man since he has a smiley flag.
Chapter 673: Vergo and Joker
-
-
I wonder if Smoker and Tashgi get another promotion once Dofla + Virgo are defeated and their dirty cover up gets revealed.
It would save the marines' face again.
I kinda doubt that though when I think of the person Dofla was talkin to after the war. Dangerous, powerful mofo gets protected by really high ranks.
On the other hand Dofla was not politely to that guy in the end. I wonder if that dude forgets this until Dofla's defeat. -
That was in the manga as well.
Good to know. Thanks for reminding me.
U know what came to my mind?:
-Bellamy and Sarquis, both underlings of Dofla, came from North Blue (they knew Nolands story from their childhood just like Sanji)
-Law, ex-underling of Dofla also comes from North Blue.
Now I wonder if Dofla is from North Blue too or if he has connections to that sea.
Another interesting note a cool reviewer on Youtube pointed out is that Law and Doflamingo both have similar jolly rogers. I never even noticed, but it all makes sense now.
-
So that middle finger was really just Croc's way of winking and saying, "call me, baby."
Ws that in the manga as well? I don't remember it and if so I'd love to be able to find it
That was in the manga as well.
I remember Doflomingo on Jozu's back (….won't comment...) but don't remember that, any idea what chapter?
-
I don' think that Doflamingo is at a Yonkou level, there would be no need for codenames or similar stuff if he was. Beeing a Yonkou means being able to take on Marinefold head on, and while probably not winning, at least putting up a hell of a fight. I just don't see it after his performance in the war, despite his extremely powerful fruit.
Tho what makes him more interesting than the other enemies so far is that the SH's won't just face a powerful individual, but someone with actual political power (Spandam was a worm in comparison). While Luffy probably doesn't care about that, he does have good friends who do (Vivi, Dalton, Neptune, Water 7 to a degree).
-
@Nex:
I think the only problem with that is it would mean Dragon isn't as wise to his going ons as he should be.
Well, Dragon is Luffy's father and Garp's son: genes are not water and he should have at least some strange quirk, after all…
-

And the strange quirk is not being able to spot double agents in his own ranks?
Love it.

Not really, being a Yonkou means you have powerful crew and allies. The balance isnt Whitebeard=Marinefold+shichibukai, its Whitebeard Pirates + Other Allie Pirate crews…We know their are individuals who are on Yonkou level that roam by themselves(i.e. mihawk>Shanks), the difference between Mihawk and Shanks being that Shanks has a powerful crew/allies with him.
Like Crocodile said, there is alot of silver medalists that are extremely powerful who lost only to Gold Roger/Whitebeard.

Can't remember the chapter number but IIRC it was the scene where he was talking to Ivankov about Kuma being 'dead'.
EDIT:
Whew, that took awhile to find. Anyway here it is: http://www.mangareader.net/103-34399-15/one-piece/chapter-559.html
Top-right panel.

Yes, I'm taking into considerationn that Doflamingo has his own powerful crew / allies. Still not seeing it tho, as well as the Mihawk > Shanks thing. Tho I will leave it here, there is so much else to speculate on this chapter, no need for a P-level discussion (yet )

Nah, I was just kidding about Croc flipping Dofla off. But you know it happened off screen. xD
As for the scene, it's during the chapter where Doflamingo tells Ivankov that Kuma is dead. Forget which chapter it is, though.

Not to mention the fact that he can make the Straw Hats fight each other. I'm sure all of you have given this some thought as well, even back when he was first introduced when the crew only had 7. With Franky and Brook thrown in for added risk, I'm quite curious to see how his puppeteer abilities will work.
Any predictions on what his fruit does? Aside from the obvious, perhaps he literally becomes a puppeteer. But that would be too obvious for Oda. WWe know he can cut and dice with his thin string, like what he did to Oars Jr. The question is if it's a paramecia or a logia. I doubt it's a zoan, as I can't see him transforming. But what possible power would give him the ability to control others? Maybe he can control the nervous system or something like that.
EDIT: And yes, I doubt Doflamingo is as strong as the other Emperors. I mean, there is a reason Oda is choosing to make Doflamingo the big boss of the first storyline in the New World. Yes, he's strong for sure, but like Crocodile started things off in the Grand Line to some extent, he will be the powerful guy that gives Luffy a beating and then gets his ass kicked after a few rematches. But this will only be the first act to what promises to be the Straw Hats' most thrilling and dangerous journey yet.

So much this. Lets just think of all the twisted possibilities, like Sanji being forced to attack the girls of the crew, or Luffy fighting Chopper.
As to the Doflam scene, you mean this one?
!
Here is the chapter:
http://www.mangareader.net/103-36562-8/one-piece/chapter-561.html -
Usually I don't like to talk bout silly power lvl comparisons (Mr. 3 reaching the scaffold in this "war of the best" shows how an ant can reach sth that is protected by top tiers), but with the latest reveals of Dofla, we can consider him almost as powerful/influencal as a Yonkou:
-He has pirate-allies/underlings just like a Yonkou (though IMO not as many allies as a Yonkou)
-His shichi title lets him do as he pleases without being disturbed by the marines.
-He even has loyal marine moles who cover up all the dirt he creates.
-And what makes him even almost more powerful than a Yonkou is the fact that he has connections to persons among t he WG who are higher than a Fleet Admiral. This person could protect Dofla's position among the shichi in the worst case scenario (defeat or sth else). The last point is kinda unstable since we don't know how the WG officer reacts when Dofla's plots get uncovered.
We can assume that the guy lets go of Dofla, so he can't be connected to his dark plans and the officer even has a scapegoat when Dofla's plans fail.Conclusual I'd say that Dofla might not be physical as strong as a Yonkou (we don't even know if he uses haki), but his political power and influence sure can be compared almost equally to a Yonkou's. At least he fills the gap between the shichis and the Yonkou, so he is a perfect warm up villain for the first parts of the NW.
-
So is Yarusugi a Commodore or a Rear Admiral?
-
16 chars of A Commodore.
-
So many questions. If Law was Doflamingo's subordinate, then it's interesting he was on the auction house owned by his boss 2 years ago. Was he still under him at that time? Maybe checking things out for him or something. Or was he kicked out of the group because of the chaos he made with Luffy and Kidd? Is his crew being MIA related to him not being part of the group anymore?
-
It always struck me odd that Doflo really ignored Luffy for the most part at the War when even Mihawk attacked Luffy. It gave me the impression that Doflo will play a big part some time later and it would blow our minds.
nothing odd about it. Luffy is someone he had heard alot about but never actually seen for himself. He was enjoying the show Luffy was putting on.
umm i see alot of people think Dofla is yonko level, but is he really that strong . We only seen 1 yonko in action ( That was WhiteBeard going rampage at marineford not even in his prime so im thinking yonko are even stronger). B4 there was a battle between Shanks and Kaido and i think that lasted about 5 days or a week anyway Shanks show up at marineford with no injuries in my opinion thats make kaido look weak ( but we dont really know if it was a serious battle or not). Also mihawk is similar in strength with Shanks (they were rivals) since Shanks lost his left arm i assume Mihawk is stronger. I am wondering whos a stronger warlord Mihawk or Dofla ? Btw this is my first post on this website
First off, it was just over 24 hours between the skirmish between Shanks & Kaidou and the war at Marineford. This is something the Marines commented on when Shanks turned up at Marineford. Secondly, as i said - it was a minor skirmish between the 2.

My absolute favorite OP webcomic has Sanji being forced to attack Nami (not puppet strings, but mind control) and he nearly kills her. It was completely amazing and really deep, so I'm all for having some crew to crew battles. Heck, Luffy vs Usopp is still one of the best things I ever saw and they were doing it knowingly! Dofla really needs to give us that drama since it was wasted on Bellamy and Sarquis anyway…

Here's a quick colouring of the last page I thought I'd share for fun. I chose gold lens for Doflamingo's sunnies over silver as I just prefer the look. -

And we are not even sure if they fought. We were just told Kaidou tried to stop Whitebeard and Shanks intercepted him. We don't know the reason Kaidou tried to stop Whitebeard and we don't know what happened between Kaidou and Shanks. I really hope later on in the story Oda tells us what happened!
On topic - Chapter was amazing as always and Dofla appears to have a lot of influence..interesting!

We know what happenned. Kaidou was bragging about how he was going to take out WB, and Shanks interecepted him, the 2 had a skirmish and that was it.

ok now that Oda revealed that DoFlamingo is behind Vergo i guess its time to reveal some other ppl he controls in various positions.
-BB was his spy in WB pirate crew, and now he unleashed BB to have his own Yonkou in NW
-Akainou is his underling that was placed as Fleet admiral.
-Kong is his first mate.
-Dragon is placed as Leader of the revolutionary under his command
-DoFlamingo is Luffys mother
-He lived in Void century
etc
:ninja:
-
Oh man. These are exciting times indeed. Doflamingo is near …
As someone said earlier, it would be absolutely awesome if Usopp captured Caesar with a Gas Dial. It probably won't happen - more likely, Zoro/Sanji/Kinemon will arrive at the last minute and save them. Still, it's a fun notion.

You forgot about Bonney. ITs not the Gorosei that Bonney keeps using her power on the keep them alive since the Void Century… its Doflomingo. Thats why his underling, Akainu, ws relieved to find her.

Probably Gol D Roger wasn't dead. He stays all this time under cover by the name of…Doflamingo...

he is a rear admiral lol.
he is a commodore

Maybe Kaidou knew bout the outcome of the war and he didn't want WB to die, leaving a big empty spot among the Yonkou.
We know what happenned. Kaidou was bragging about how he was going to take out WB, and Shanks interecepted him, the 2 had a skirmish and that was it.
This is possible too. Maybe he wanted to show the world that it doesn't take a MHQ+Shichis, but only a Kaidou to take out WB. After all Kaidou seems to be one of those silver medalists Croc was talkin about.

Oh c'mon, now the connection makes total sense
I mean… Monet has a shirt that says Happy (and she is a Harpy (sounds like happy in japanese), Candy is a prominent theme, CC's pet is named Smiley. Ceaser CLOWN.
Everything is connected to the age of smiles! And the ringleader even had the alias JOKER!Everything was so subtly hinted… awesome.
Oh and this does seem like BW up to eleven.
Dofla is Mr0 ->The ringleader
Monet is Robin -> The cool girl with intentions difficult to read
Law is Vivi -> The ally connected with the enemy organization.
Smoker and Tashigi -> Are smoker and TashigiThe rest keeps the originality of the arc, but it does have the nostalgic feeling of discovery and fighting bigger enemies.
Still, lil' boys made giants on crack... Forcing drought in an whole island isn't much better, but... That scene with the mother crying, hoping that her son still lives, and the cutting to the children violent with the withdrawal, and Ceaser appearing, ready to give them more. That was a powerful scene. I'm just hoping next chapter keeps going from there, instead of skipping to the kids captured and Nami and Usopp unconscious. :S -

But aren´t they going towards CC labs? So that means they are a heading towards Luffy & Co.!

I want to see Doflamingo's eyes. We HAVEN'T seen them yet.
I wonder if he takes his glasses off, if, his power is amplified tenfold. I mean…why would Oda hide them so much? (Kuma's glasses are his aiming reticle as a cyborg, so I can understand why we haven't seen his).

With the reveal this chapter (which wasn't that big of a shock, really), it's apparent that Doflamingo works for Kaidou. Kaidou obviously wants Moria dead for unknown reasons (probably involving their conflict 10 years ago), and considering the lack of respect Doflamingo has for the government, he's the only one I can see being able to give Doflamingo an order like that and expect him to follow it. So, with Vergo and Law working for Doflamingo, and Doflamingo working for Kaidou, it's apparent that Law wants to take down either Kaidou himself to free his obligation and ruin Doflamingo, or Big Mom, to eliminate Kaidou's competition.

I would also disagree with that point of view.
He was asked if he works for Sengoku, but he replied "try higher"..so in terms of power in the world only the WG in form of the gorousei seem to be legit.
So my gues is that DoFlamingo has some kind of agreement with the WG, which he needs anyway to be a shichibukai.
So he does follow some orders like fighting in the war or killing Moria, but we see how he handles that.(just having fun at the war and he wasnt even trying for real to kill Moria or else he would have followed him) As long as he gains something from it (like the status of being a shichibuklai, the WG looking over slave trading etc.) he is willing to make them believe he
s on their side but actually he has his own plans as an underground kingpin. So i don
t see it as necessary that he also has to follow orders from a yonkou…he is clever enough to know that he shouldn
t show the gorousei the middle finger, but as soon as he has no benefits from it he would instantly abondem their contract.
I mean also BB just used his shichibukai position and left it as he gathered what he wnated...so may be DoFlamingo just waiting for the right time.PS: Thank you for your translation, CCC.
-
I still wonder who Doflamingo meant when he said "try higher", and who he was talking to in Mariejois…
That wasn't Kong or one of the Gorōsei. Would be a twist if it were Vegapunk (and it would suck for CC). -
What I want to know is what DD's end goal is. He doesn't seem to be the type that would be interested in power or wealth, and if he was he has both already. If he's thought this out far enough to get his former subordinates in with the Marines 15 years ago, he's obviously got a grand plan to change the world.
Also, thinking back to Brownbeard, he mentioned that the Dragon was a favorite of a Tenryubito. So DD's likely got some World Nobles in on his plan too.
-
I bet the guy dofla was talking at mariejois is acting behind the gorousei's backs
