I just had an idea on how Luffy can easily beat CC. CC won the first time by asphyxiating Luffy, or preventing oxygen from getting into his lungs. What if, due to Law's power, Luffy's lungs were somewhere else entirely and thus free from CC's ability?
Chapter 677: "Counter Hazard"

Now see, I'd rather Luffy take out Cc by himself to make up for his loss. Law can have Vergo :P
I like it when he finds weakness on his enemies, like that time he fought Crocodile. -

1. Pick up a piece of that seastone chain cuffs.
2. Give it to Usopp.
3. Snipe CC with that stone using Kabuto, like he did Spandam.
4. …..
5. Profit! But no, that would be way too easy.

He would probably just end up shooting Zoro's arm with it.

I don't think Cesar can take the air inside Luffy's body. That's not like the OP world works.
Luffy just need to use a guerilla tactic.
breath, jump in, fight, run, breath, jump in…...

Supernova122:
Just ought to point out that, as far as I'm aware, nations like Germany and Portugal didn;t do so much in terms of taking territory from Britain and France and the like - Portugal had a much older empire in Africa and South America and India than the others and mostly just held onto that. Germany only popped up in 1871 and just obtained mostly minor and insignificant territory in the Pacific and jumped in in time to grab some of the less choice parts in the Scramble for Africa. Otherwise, I like your analogy ;)
That said, I don't think Luffy will build up any great amount of territory. Sure he's going to claim Fishman Island, but beyond that? Who's going to defend all that territory for him? Not the other Supernovas, surely.
Also, pre-timeskip Shichibukai + Law + Buggy still only makes 6, I think. So, Bege? He would make a cool one, until Blackbeard kills him and takes his power to store Sanjuan Wolf in his belly.
Germany took Tanganyika from the UK - that seems pretty 'choice' to me. They had several other territories in Africa too, like Rwanda and Togo - and territory's territory, and at that point in History that's all that mattered. You're right, Portugal were first into Africa (1492/5 - not sure exactly), but they were also last out of Africa (1975), so, with that in mind, they had to struggle for territory with the rise of UK and France. They tried to pull all kindsa' deals with Britain to get Zambia or Botswana to make a transcontinental bridge across Africa in order to link Mozambique and Angola. Equally, they lost the city Melilla (their first territory) to Spain. Everyone was in Africa, and everyone wanted more Africa.
Same goes for the NW, crews, wherever possible, will take any territory they can. Maybe, not so similar for the SH, however, if any other island's in trouble, and under the dominion of an evil Tyrant or evil Yonkou, Luffy & Co.'ll step in, and if necessary'll take land.
7th Shichibukai - I don't see it being Bege. I don't know who it could be. Perhaps a former level 6 Impel Down inmate? I think that'd be a killer.
-
Monet will end up in Law's crew.

Just to correct you, Portugal started conquering territories in Africa in 1415, with the conquest of the city of Ceuta, but that was mostly seen as just another territory taken from the moors, like the rest of the country. But your analogy seems right to me :)
And staying on topic, I'm expecting Luffy to give CC a beating now! He knows his power, thus he can use his medium ranged attacks to fight him. I'm expecting Smoker and Tashigi to arrest him and take the kids back in the end. Also, Smoker + Law VS Vergo seems likely to me, but I think he will be able to escape, he is still too important and mysterious to be beaten now. Monet seems like a triple agent to me, let's see what her role is in the end. I'm so excited for these next chapters!! A

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that this was mostly negotiated out in the late 19th century, with Africa carved up on a map and so on (as in, that's when Germany secured its territory, France and Britain did a lot of fighting and threatening in Africa). Also, transfer of territory was often negotiated for meddling, like Germany tried to take some of the Congo from France in exchange for France playing a bigger role in Morocco (but screwed it up big time) and Britain let France do so in exchange for France dropping their grudge against Britain for pretty much taking over Egypt and the Suez, and so on. Buut, again, I'm arguing for the sake of arguing, I like the analogy :p On a totally unrelated note, I've met the guy who named Tanzania a few times (he goes to my mosque … how weird is that?)
But Bege is sooo cool! He's like a replacement Crocodile! Still, I agree a new character like an ex-con would be better.

I bet the battles matchup will surprise us all like with the Fishman Island battles.
Sure, we all knew Luffy vs Hody would happen, and the inevitable Zoro vs Hyouzou, but some of the others surprised me . o . -
Calling it now.
Brownbeard vs. Caesar.
-
I highly doubt we'll be getting matchups like Alabasta or Enies Lobby or Fishman Island. Probably just Luffy and Law against Caesar and Smoker and Tashigi against Vergo.

I'd say the YCB have to be fought too, Oda surely didn't introduce them for nothing.
I'm not quite sure about Monet, but a fight with here could also be a possibility.
And the rest probably will fight fodder (Caesar's men, the frozen people). -
Are there any one a little bit irritated by the way of "Zoro and the others'" running away from the smoke.
It's a manga after all but still seems a bit immature way of story-telling. -

It's a manga after all but still seems a bit immature way of story-telling.That was part of the joke. Even the characters themselves commented on "their funny way of running". Personally I laughed at it since it's something unexpected and obviously a gag Oda wouldn't use too often.

I'm betting the 7th Shichibukai is going to be Bonney (ninja) Since she got captured by Akainu and all that, maybe that was the only choice to do other than getting sent to Impel Down.

shouldn't you read book without drawings?

@400MillionBelis:
For one, Robin was an antagonist when she fought Pell, and for another, she and Monet have a lot in common (in terms of how mysterious they were). And dammit - Robin needs a one on one that isn't a cop-out like Yama, which was her only center-focused one on one.
Robin's at least had a one-on-one and won, unlike poor Tashigi. If anyone needs a (winning) fight, it's Tashigi…
-
Is Tashigi even worthy of having a proper fight? She's not really that important.
-

I think she is, considering her interactions with Zoro and her development during the Alabasta arc. She's been there for a while and at this point one of the only good marines still active.
Granted Robin hasn't had a proper fight since Skypiea(which, I think was actually a pretty decent fight considering how broken Robin's powers are), but Tashigi has been said to be a competent fighter and we have seen glimpses of that, but she really needs a proper fight to actually show that. -
Is Tashigi even worthy of having a proper fight? She's not really that important.
-
If Smoker is allowed to have proper fights, then Tashigi should be allowed to have proper fights.
We probably won't see one until Wano, though. -

Brownbeard vs. Caesar.
I love deep thinking like this. I agree. Brownbeard needs to revenge his stolen nakama.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Regarding Tashigi, she has to be important in some way. I think it's too late for this, but she would have been a great rival for Zoro had Oda made her a little more stronger. I still don't get why he made Zoro recognize Tashigi and comment on how she looked like Kuina, and then made her fall to Zoro so quickly. It could have to do with the whole "As we grow, you will become stronger than me because you are a boy" speech that Kuina gave Zoro. Now that he's older, Kuina's words have become true and Zoro has become stronger than her in a sense (because it's not really Kuina, but Tashigi does symbolize her). What I'm wondering is, will Tashigi overcome this, and grow stronger, or will this be a permanent thing, and Zoro will just continue to take her down like it's nothing.

I wouldn't call it deep thinking, I just really think he needs to get some revenge for his crew, as you said.

I see Tashigi as how Zoro was with Kuina, always driven to be as strong/stronger than her, and when Tashigi was introduced she represented how far Zoro had gotten, surpassing her even (I know she she's not Kuina)..And now it's her turn to be the one to catch up to Zoro.
That may not make any sense, sorry..
-
Sorry, but the truth is that Tashigi is too minor right now, at least when compared to Smoker and even Law. I don't doubt her ability to take out fodder, though.
If Smoker is allowed to have proper fights, then Tashigi should be allowed to have proper fights.
We probably won't see one until Wano, though. But if Nami and Robin, who are main characters, aren't even allowed to have a proper fight during Fishman Island, then what chances does a side character like Tashigi have?
-

Fishman Island is a pretty bad arc to compare fights in. No one got a proper fight there. For example Robin's "fight" with Hammond was just as much of a fight as all the other "fights" everyone else had.

The first part about Brownbeard and "deep thinking" was actually a joke. I don't really think Brownbeard would face off against CC and I assumed you were joking too, but hey, if Brownbeard can pull something off, why not. Right?
And the Tashigi thing did make sense. Especially the part about how Tashigi was introduced to show how much Zoro has grown. The part I'm still wondering about is whether she can still catch up. I'm doubting that she can.

It was a joke! But he's bound to try to get a punch in once he finds out what Caesar did to his crew..
I think she will catch up eventually, at least enough to give Zoro a damn good fight..Whether she claims one of his swords or not is another question…I don't see it happening, but it'd be pretty cool if you ask me..

I don't think as the story progress we will see Tashigi fighting equally with Zoro. One thing that ticks me off about her is if she knows how to use her Haki. I don't like the feeling when a character like Robin doesn't know how to use hers and Tashigi does.
It could be very well explained by the time she spent in New World though. I hope middle-tier Strawhats such as Robin, Franky, Brook (Oda seem to create a style of his own about Brook though) starts developing too, soon enough.
-
Zoro can never fight Tashigi properly because she reminds him too much of Kuina. So she is like his "weakness". So no, Tashigi won't be Zoro's rival in swordsmanship. I'm hoping that broker we first saw that looked like a female swordsman does.
-
id like to see how Oda would pull of making tashigi strong enough to actualy fight zoro now, truth be told i dont want or think she will catch up to him, i actualy realy like the character tashigi, and i want her to have a real 1v1 fight but her being as strong as zoro, that would have to take a serious DF for that to happen.
next chapter: tashigi will meet Zoro…...will it be hate at first(third) sight.....
-
She could eat the diamond fruit.
But I'd rather her become powerful on her own. -

Her losing to Zoro back then fast would have given her a reason to improve also even if she was as strong as smoker she would have still lost due to the plot forcing her to lose i hope Oda improves her because we're going to have her around a lot or get her to fight Brook so she can be a challenge to a strawhat.

Usopp nami and chopper vs frozen people

I'm pretty sure the Frozen People are just older gianticism experiments.

I hope for the same thing. But then what is Tashigi left with? She hasn't had any shining moments, a little bit of character development here and there. But her role in the story has become somewhat unclear.
-
Don't forget that Zoro should be as strong if not stronger than Rayleigh in the end, so he should be able to use the king haki as well.
-
so because Rayleigh has it, Zoro must have it as well? nice logic you got there
-

Rayleigh's retired and over the hill, Zoro would beat him without conqueror's haki eventually. Besides, if two people in the same small crew had it, it'd be less special

Disagree slightly with first point, agree majorly with the second bit about haki

Did someone color the panel with Law, Smoker and Luffy?
-

Well he did match up to Kizaru, so I'm not saying he's all done, but between him and Zoro, one of them is up and coming, while the other won't get any stronger
-

Well At the moment apart from seeing the base level of the crew increase to average franky/nico level pre time skip with ussop and nami i've yet to see big improvements from sanji and Zoro
this will be a crew of 10 or so yes but if these 2 don't step up then how the hell will luffy become king
he will not get that much stronger than everyone else and if pirates like yonkou or marines attack with force luffy n crew would be fucked unless this supernova alliance is going to keep going? for the foreseeable future -
Awesome chapter. I love the spread with Law, Luffy, and Smoker. Luffy looks pretty badass sitting on top of that corpse. This was a classic One Piece chapter! We're getting down to business in the story, but Oda keeps pouring in the humor.. Sanji's groping, Luffy's shouting, and Tashigi's pouting. I can't wait to see how this unfolds.

I don't care about Zoro having Conqueror's Haki at all. I mean, from what we've seen so far, its only use is to take down people who are way weaker than the user… Meaning that it wouldn't be that much of a power up for Zoro, he's already more than capable of dealing with fodder pretty fast.
