Good to have confirmation. As much as I strained my eyes, I couldn't see Jinbe's name on that picture, but who knows? And everything else they said that was on the interview was actually there, so they deserved the benefit of doubt. Gonna try to remember this next time.

Yeah, but I don't think that translates to having more than 10 people join as others suggested because the story mutated. I think the joining of each, in essence remained the same. It simply took longer to get there.
Would it be possible in a theoretical scenario that Oda only has five more arcs after Wano, but each of those arcs could be 200 or 300 chapters long? Story % is one thing, but how long it takes for all the chapters detailing them to come out is another.

80% can kind of mean anything. Number of islands, arcs, chapters, years, and depending on how Oda meant it any of those things can vary wildly.
In terms that I think we care about, years left and overall volumes, its probably closer to 70% just based on what we know, and how Oda always underestimates himself.
I used to think wrapping up around chapter 1200,just in time for the 30th anniversary and volume 120, was doable, but after the Big Mom arc went super long with its chase sequence and ended with threads that need to be readressed at length, that took months longer than expected and adds another year back in.
Wano- 2 years (maybe even 3 with all the players involved if its used to close a lot of threads before the actual series end)
Elbaf-1-2 years (used to think 1 year cooldown arc, but now with BM back in place and it maybe being the place for Shanks)
Random stuff-1 year (things we can't anticipate. Reverie, bonus mystery island, vegapunk, dragon flashback, Weevil, etc.)
Raftel-1 year (maybe less. depends on what it takes to get there, if it has a Gold Roger flashback, and if there's a true history flashback or just Robin reading a tablet)
Big war-3 years (includes every strawhat getting a 1 on 1 fight for at least 3 chapters, and Luffy's being significantly longer. That's a year by itself.) Plus touch ins with all old characters, and epilogue.
And that's assuming 40-45 chapters a year. I can't imagine it wrapping in under 7 years at this point unless Oda takes some significant narrative shortcuts to speed things up and has a couple less extended fights… (and he's the author so he may know full well that Elbaf is actually going to just be a 10 chapter stop over or something) but all signs point to Wano absolutely being an extended fight, maybe the first chance for everyone in the crew to get a battle in years. And I can't imagine any circumstance where Oda doesn't throw everything he has at the final arc, that could easily be REALLY long... hopefully not as endless as Naruto and Bleach's final wars that went for like 5 years and 300 chapters each. That was too much.

Because of Oda's track record with guessing his own pace. He's been wrong every single time. Like when he originally thought the series would take 5 years. Like in mid skypeia he said a Strawhat would die next year. Skypeia proceeded to take another year and Water Seven took 3 years before finally getting to Merry's death. Like when he said Wano would be next year two years ago.
Oda may know how much story is left, but he's terrible at estimating how long a given adventure will take. Those aren't actually the same thing.

I think the best way to put it, in that case, would be 'Oda knows what events need to occur within the series before it can end.'

Exactly. It's not as though in the course of writing something you don't get new ideas constantly. Hell, with how long this one has lasted, extrapolate that out exponentially and that's probably how much new has come from what the idea was originally to be. Not to mention how new pop culture things, and the way people talk, can influence things concurrently.
Although I wouldn't mind 50 page chapters as long as they were still released weekly. Or even every 2 weeks (as long as there were no delays longer than 2 weeks) since that still averages an entire new chapter per month if we average 4 20-page chapters during a normal month (which we don't, so even better!)

Amusing though Sicilian was, I feel he would have overlapped too much with Pedro if he'd gone to WCI as well, and Pedro had the stronger background with the place. I also rather liked the Mentor-Student dynamic going on between Pedro and Carrot, which we probably wouldn't have gotten with Sicilian, so I'm more or less happy with how WCI turned out on that front.
Hopefully he'll play a decent role in Wano once the Minks show up in force.

Even if Oda stumbled into the DF thing by accident, after someone pointed it out and they printed it, I can't imagine him not going that route.
Kinemon's unnamed fruit could potentially fit the bill, actually. I forget the handful of potential names but one of them fits his power set.

Oda's not one to care about that. Jinbe was well below the top 100 first time he polled, but he didn't change his plans, now he's number 6. Maybe Law was pushed to the foreground more due to his popularity… but Oda's not going to ditch a character he wants to focus on.
I think his role just shifted once his gang was assembled and we got to see they were all going to be japanese stereotypes, and is being saved up for this arc.

Don't have the details, but each syllable from the devil fruits eaten by the crew is a number (from 0 to 9) in japanese, so the 4 fruits together make 8 numbers in total and there are two missing. There are some candidates, like Kinnemon, Kuma and Smoker, because the syllables from their fruits have the final two numbers.
Kuma is way to powerful and big I'd say (like the jinbei door joke but for real this time), we've discussed at lengths why Kinnemon is a good ally but not really a viable crewmate (to much overlap) and there's no way in hell smokers joining I'd say (although he would fit that white color theme Robby was talking about) I guess we will have to wait and see

I don't know how the language well enough to really break it down, so I'm not sure if they can be mixed and match, Ni Ku and Fu Kyu, or done backwards, Kyu Ni and Kufu, and those would open up more options, but thats a translation and pun beyond my paygrade.
If the mix and match of Niku is an option, that would be MEAT, and we know Luffy is all in on that, but after Big Mom's kingdom, well…. also food is Sanji's thing.

Someone also pointed out years later that the DF numbers when added give you the name of the ship which is mathematically improbable to be a coincidence.

Just because someone has a fruit now doesn't mean that they'll always have the fruit.
I could reasonably see Kuma "dying". Franky foreshadowed the Strawhats having to destroy PX-0 in a future encounter. We don't know the specific details of Kuma's surgery but maybe he's a brain in a vat. It'd go with his philosopher theme. I don't know if there's a name for this anime trope but I'm reminded of Tochiro serving as the computer of the Arcadia and plenty of other sentient human consciousness uploaded into a machine or even just a head in a jar like in Macross or TTGL.
