Well, whoever this Yonkō is, we can assume that their closest subordinates are already strong. But since these DFs can be mass-produced, they can be used to buff every single one of the Yonkō's footsoldiers. It would have a massive impact in a battle situation, think back to when the Pacifistas were unveiled at Marineford.

i bet the weakness of the artificial fruits is that they are far weaker to sea stone than regular devil fruits. like they just stop working all together just coming into contact with sea stone and can't operate again for a while. this way luffy and whoever will be able to fight off an army of them.

you can't separate the beam from the full pikapika power. maybe the pacifistas aren't able to do such complicate things as yasakani, murakumo and kagami then they use only beams, but a normal person could do it

Agree with your thoughts about Brownbeard. Oda really is doing a wonderful thing here (which he has a penchant for in the rest of the series, anyway), which is casting prejudices aside and making you care about a pretty ugly guy. The world right now focuses on beauty so much, and the standards only get more and more impossible to attain.
Now the question is… Was Caribou marooned at that island? Kaidou can't be the superior he was referring to at the tail-end of Fishman Island, can he? (Kaidou himself might not be there, but he could be relaying his message about Shirahoshi to a messenger). I always assumed that since Caribou was absolute filth he'd be aligned with Doflamingo, but now I'm not so positive.

It was a nice touch for Caribou to have landed on Kaidou's islands. I like those little details. Also, do we know why Law wants (the) SAD for? Is said before that there was something in the island that they needed to bring down a Yonkou, does he just intend to destory it or use it himself?
Also, why does he need to capture CC? Must need him for part of the plan. As always, a great chapter, but left me with more questions than answers!! Hehe

I think Big Mam will get double crossed by Flamingo.
I know it was said that Vegapunk made Momonosuke's Fake-DF, but he saw DoFlamingo for some reason. I think he has some control over fake-DF's, so with Big Mam (supposedly) having hundreds of fake-DF users….I wonder if he's going to take her seat.
Also if Vegapunk's fake-df allowed Mmonosuke to see flamingo, maybe vegapunk was in league with flamingo for some reason...hmm, one can wonder.
what is interesting is that SAD and SMILE are 2 different things entirely. Oda is opening a lot of doors and future plots.
EDIT: A possible reason why momonosuke saw DoFlamingo is. Vegapunk could've invented the SMILE but it was originally CC who made SAD that Vegapunk used. And CC was on DoFlamingo's payroll the whole time, and that the SAD was originally meant for DoFlamingo.

Okay based on this chapter I've come up with something of a theory here.
- The Yonkou that used Smilies to make an army of zoan users is the target of the Luffy/Law alliance.
- That yonkou is big mom, pekoms once mentioned that if an island failed to deliver food, an army of beasts would descend upon them. Furthermore Luffy doesnt know Kaido and he would have different reactions for BB and Shanks.

If what Momonosuke experienced wasn't hypnotism of some type, then I don't know what is.
To go along with people saying Law has a grudge against Dofla because Bepo's current form is artificially created, his attraction to bears and/or dejected spirit (compared to when he might have been a mighty kung-fu warrior or something) could be explained by hypnotism.

It also solves the rather big plot hole regarding races in the OPverse as there wasn't a race of animal people on the Sabaody list and many were wondering where exactly those two did belong to.
But what about the guards in ID? They are confirmed to be awakened Zoans (Crocodile), but what if they are Awakened SMILE users? Chopper's monster form seems to be the normal "awakened mode" so far. We need more information regarding this matter.

Very nice chapter after the break. Seems Kaido will finally take part in the story. Caribou landed on his island and will probably tell him about Shirahoshi. SAD is used to make SMILEs. I can't believe this was foreshadowed as early as the Sabaody arc. Doflamingo is working with either Big Mom or Kaido by supplying them with artificial devil fruits(SMILEs) AND is presumably going to betray her/him by controlling the SMILE users. Awesome. As others have pointed out, the SMILEs' weakness is probably that you can't turn back into a human.

Monet wasn't originally crippled by gas, there is no reason for her to be operated on by Law instead of simply consuming a fruit.

I like to think that Bepo is definitely a half-bear born man, because of his liking of female bears. But if that is not like that, well, not a biggie for me.

Cause it seems to me Dofla, aside from nuts, is a business man. If "Smiles" are giving him more money that slavery trade, fuck slavery trade.

We don't know what the effects and rules are for artificial devil fruits, it's quite possible that the rules for regular devil fruits do not apply.
It's also a possibility that Caesar found a way to make two devil fruits coexist in one user. Of course it could also still be Law's doing, but I tend to think it was Caesar's work after all. We shall see. -

My hands down favourite parts of the chapter would be, Luffy saving Brownbeard and Luffy punching Caesar before saying that he beats up those types of people all the time. Now I don't feel worried about Luffy taking on the Yonko that much.

Kind of off-topic but, about those two pages…when i looked closer at it, I realised something interesting. When Drake was on the island (presumably Kaidou's), the horizontally striped mountains seem to be work in progress, as evidenced by the scaffolding. After the timeskip, Caribou washes up ashore and the mountain is complete! Seeing how everything is covered with metal plates too, maybe Kaidou is some landscaping/metal enthusiast :p

I don't think of anyone in OP as "Final Boss" or anything resembling that, I am not even sure it will end with any kind of grand fight instead of the main baddy getting some kind of karmic comeuppance, so that doesn't factor into my logic.
His main thing isn't using two fruits at a time, it's his deviousness, tenacity and grand schemes - to me, again.
As far as Monet just creating those appendages with her powers - no other logia did anything similar, so that seems unlikely. I doubt she'd be so fond of that form that she'd never revert to normal, so her appearance seems to be permanent. -

Not to say that it makes your theory a bad one, but… I just checked the raw, and Tamago's word isn't literally "beasts." Beast isn't even a particularly good translation. It's more just like "really strong/hardy/stalwart men."

I have a question that kind of relates to whether Caribou is under Kaidou's league or not. How often have we seen machine guns in One Piece? 'cause Caribou had one in Fishman Island, and so did the guy Drake visited in ch. 595 or so on the zebra-stripe island.
