It's like Mashima doesn't plan for how all these ideas or occurances in his manga are gonna effect the plot. Lisanna was shown to be alive and well back in the Edolas arc, in Edolas. Since that arc however, her character has been so underused like the rest of the Guild members and so ditched aside that you kinda tend to question why Mashima even made her alive again-probably his sad excuse for a plot twist. At least that's it seems based on the show.

! I seriously hope this arc brings elements to the story that develop the plot. I'm still on Edolas in the anime so I don't know to much about the rest of that, and I don't know about some of later parts of the Tenrou Island Arc (I know the ending part), but to me, some of the arcs like the Fighting Festival arc have been almost useless to the plot thus far, to me. For example, the Fighting Festival Arc seems to be about Laxus wanting to start a game about the strength of the Fairy Tail mages to whose the strongest. Laxus says that Makarov should resign in order for the thing to stop. Then he fights. Natsu and Gajeel fight him. Laxus wants to destroy all of Magnolia with his Fairy Law. Okay but Freed tells him that - WAIT eh minute stop right there. If Makarov here is in bed, then what reason does Laxus have for destroying Magnolia (or taking it hostage first) other than trying to test the strength of the Fairy Tail guild members? Do you guys know why? (Also the arc doesn't seem to introduce anything important to the series which is why it feels and could be an almost useless arc. It also exposed the lack of world building, and also how the lack of character interaction makes the friendship things seem somewhat corny, even if it doesn't result in a power-up.)

Oh my, i only read Fairy Tail for the lols and i've no expectations for this manga, it's just a five minute brake from real live, but this chapter was the shit.
When i read a chapter of Fairy Tail i'm waiting for the moment when major bullshit happens every time i click on the next page, but this chapter really got me.
The moment i read that only the five main turds would fight in this tournement i burst out laughing. The last time i laughed so much was "you got pranked" in Gintama. This chapter was really good.

Wow, I'm completely satisfied with how disappointed I am. I've recently realized what's so frustrating about Fairy Tail with this chapter, and it's that the author doesn't seem to realize that he keeps setting up his readers for disappointment. We recently had a training arc involving what, nearly 20 characters and yet only 5 are fighting. We could've easily had two teams or a bigger team, but no, only 5 are fighting. So what was the point of Gajeel training? Cause I'm sure he's better prepared then a little girl. It's times like these that I question Wendy's worth as a character–she's the Scrappy Doo of this series right now. Also, why couldn't Mashima come up with a better excuse? It feels so lazy. Those guys trained for months only to miss some made up deadline? That seems like an important detail to miss. It just raises too many questions!

Also, what about the other characters that were powered up? I'm fairly sure they'll be a reason down the line, why did freaking Levy go through with it? Is she going to get into a fight later on? I wonder.

The Luvia thing was weird. Gray called her "mine"?

And yeah I don't like the 3rd generation Dragon Slayers. "You guys must be weaker than us based on us never fighting that particular dragon, or really knowing how that fight went down in the first place. The dragon that nuked an island must be easy prey."

I'm still confused about the dragon slayers in general for several reasons. They keep calling Dragon's their parents, But their magic is called Dragon Slayer? Are they supposed to be killing Dragons? Why would killing one make them stronger? Do they eat their hearts? I was under the impression Natsu, Wendy and Gajeel liked their dragons. Do these characters have actual human parents or is something weird going on? Why are people abandoning their kids to dragons? Do these dragon slayers never question where they come from? How would a huge dragon take care of a tiny child?

Great chapter, Dragon slayers slaying their masters in order to prove they're evil is a good step toward them not becoming members of Fairy Tail.
Then again this is Mashima.

Wendy will likely get TKO'd or Erza and Gajeel will step in to fight the double dragons.
Luxus is too powerful to fight anyone in this tournament.
So is that other dude.

The only way this arc gets terrible is if Acnologia appears in the middle of the tournament, the 6/7/8 dragon slayers team up to kill it and then everyone becomes friends.
Then again this is Mashima.

The chapter was okay,i also wonder about "mine" bit from Gray but i bet it is just translation error.Still dont like the new dragonslayers nor the cats.
Yay Gajeel…....is not participating:sad:,well enjoy erza bits in this chapter thats about it but i wonder if we are getting regular fights or something else.

Like I said, he could still make it in through Raven Tail. It would add some more drama to this arc, from the characters' perspectives at least. (seeing as most of them wouldn't know where his allegiance really lies)

Not really seeing how this mysterious dark power that is present in every competition comes into play. We have Raven Tail, Mirajane and Luxus' groups, and this mysterious power. Mashima loves conflagrations of power, and usually they are done horribly so I really don't know what to expect on how he will interweave all of these groups. It's just too many characters for one setting.

Really liked this chapter (again) xD! Liked the intro of the 3rd generation Dragon Slayers, although I'm sure Natsu will kick their asses - they killed their parents! Dx
Loved the scenes with Gray, Leon and Juvia <3 Kawaii~! Gray was getting a bit jealous haha xD
The people chosen for the tournament was obvious, but I'm happy that Wendy got chosen, she'll be great for healing the others in the middle of a battle
Really wanna know what their all gonna have to do haha
Can't wait for the next chapter :3

Oh please, it's just that there wasn't anything particularly groan worthy (though the cliche twist of dragon hybrids was pretty bad). There wasn't anything really good either. I'm basing things on a really low bar after the strong of horrendous chapters that we've had over the past few months.

There's no way for them to have been inspired by 'Natsu the Dragon Slayer' and still have a dragon parent, let alone kill it. And even if we assume the inspiration is bogus, they'd have to be around two or three years old when they killed their dragon? Or if we instead assume their dragon parent never disappeared, well, there goes the whole 777 plot thread before it even started.

I really wanted to see a Natsu, Gajeel, Erza, Laxus and Wendy team.

I mean, he wants to find Igneel, but he doesn't ever search for him. He wants to be the best mage in Fairy Tail, as to why he entered the S class trial exam, but he's already defeated opponents that Erza couldn't defeat, and he defeated Laxus (with Gajeel's help of course), and he always uses his friends power and memories of how Fairy Tail is his family, but he pretty willing to go ahead and attack the rest of guild members (Fighting Festival).

Why isn't Juvia competing. Like someone else mentioned, what was the point of showing Gajeel, Mirajane's team, and others training just for them to miss the deadline. I hope it's because they joined another guild, which would make for a nice situation in the tournament.

Quick Question: You know how Natsu and the rest joined Fairy Tail as kids, right? Why didn't other children join Fairy Tail before the seven year timeskip?

She can materialise words, that's kinda more helpfull then Lucy, seeing you already have two "magic" users who'se entiere "magic" consists of punching people (okay Gray uses his for a bit more, but seeing how he's been jobbing lately I don't expect anything great from him).

That's not gonna happen, because it would go against their strong bond.
Mostly consisting of exchanging one to two lines of banter in the background when everyone in the guild is getting bollocksed.

The beginning of the manga started out with Natsu searching for Igneel and while that particular agenda hasn't been focused on as much since then, it's still his overall goal which no one has forgotten about. Fairy Tail is like his new family and connections and with his personality naturally he wants to be the strongest. As for Natsu defeating opponents Erza couldn't…well, my memory isn't too good with this manga but I'm going to guess all those defeats were circumstantial. Like Erza was busy with something else, Erza just got out of a fight and was too tired, or Erza wasn't even there.

The director of the anime really liked Lisanna, so much that back when the anime made their backstory on her "death", he said he tried to make sure that it was vague enough to not actually show her getting killed since he hoped he'd see her again. He's probably disappointed on the lack of focus on her since she's returned, I imagine.

As you can see in the post you quoted, I pointed out that their dragon could never have disappeared, but that it would be abandoning one of the longest running plot threads just to force a completely unecessary and overused one. Acnologia works as a single exception, being the dragon it is, but even it wasn't necessary.

overall a decent chapter, but two things I would like to address. The moment I saw the word hybrid I was like okay do not KUBO us Mashima, we all know how that word hybrid went down with bleach, with that said point number two with them being half of the REAL THING and HALF LACHRYMA aka the ultimate dragon slayer, I hope HIRO will not disappoint.

I will take there words lightly, since am pretty sure a few more chaps down line this killing a dragon would be a 360 .

have we ever seen a dragon teaching magic to their human kids, what process do they go through.

Am pretty such once Raven Tail begin havoc, that's when Mashima will bring back laxus and Gajeel since they have connections.

It was okay chapter, though from what happened last chapter with that deus ex machina, I have a bad feeling that what's-her-face-with-time-powers is going to visit Laxus, Gajeel and Patherlily and give them the same "training" as the others too… PLease let me be wrong!

Nah, Gajeel and Laxus are just gonna come in epicly with their new powers that they received and do some quick fighting to defeat an opponent that isn't the main villain, with Natsu defeating the main villiain, almost making their appearances non significant.

Hello all and Happy New Year as we kick off the manga season of 2012. Hope your holidays were plentiful and that you're in the mood to get back into the swing of things. I know I am, let's review!

Chapter 265: The Flower Blooming Capital, Crocas

The Skinny: Team Natsu arrives at Crocas, we learn the rules and "conveniently" only Team Natsu will be participating in the games. Everyone goes their separate ways. Erza checks into the hotel, Charle and Wendy visit the castle of the city unaware they're being watched. Gray and Lyon (or rather just Lyon) make a rather ludicrous bet involving Juvia. And Natsu, Lucy and Happy finally meet Sting, Rouge and their Exceeds…who are revealed to be total assholes. Oh and they apparently killed a dragon which make them "true" dragon slayers.

My Thoughts: Not a bad chapter but not a perfect one. I'll get the bad out of the way now, I hate the excuse they used for just using Team Natsu for the games. Okay Mashima they're the central characters, I understand that but don't keep using them for every main event in your story. I know that this Team trained to take on the games but really I just couldn't help but be annoyed by this just as the Team were the only ones to fight Hades at the end of the Tenrou Island arc. Really its okay if you change up your roster now and then, Mashima. We won't mind, we want to know of the other characters!

Now for the good, love the humor between Gray, Lyon and Juvia. But sheesh Lyon is such a cock-blocker, he might as well have a sign that says "I Want Juvia For My Girlfriend". I was surprised Gray was actually taking an interest in defending Juvia. Could it be he's really starting to care for her? Hmm. Juvia also looked cute, glad she changed into a new outfit too.

Of course the latter half was all about the tension, first we got some gremlin thing tailing Wendy and Charle, most likely some creature from Raven Tail. And Sting and Rouge reveal their true colors as nothing more then a bunch of cocky fighters who think they're all that over slaying a dragon. Heck even Happy and their Exceeds don't get along right off the bat. Course if these two chide Natsu over failing to stop Acnologia (without even knowing the full details. Natsu wasn't exactly in the best of shape when that happened) then its obvious they're in for a rude reality check. Basically think Cobra only if he actually met a dragon and split it into two people and you got these characters. Curious of the whole backstory of being trained by and killing their dragon. Was it truly for power or another reason entirely?

Overall I dug it. We finally kickstart the tourney arc and the heroes meet their adversaries. Some shocking revelations and great tension abound. Curious that the FT never seem to join the games when there was a specific event that was perfect for one of the members. Coincidence? We shall see.

With all of her Stellar Spirits, Lucy is like the most diverse mage on their team. Actually, unless there is a brawl of some sorts, Natsu could easily be the least useful because his magic isn't very diverse. Oh, and while Elfman might not be the greatest asset to the team (also quite uniform magic and he's not the strongest fighter around), I'm quite glad to actually have him on the team, as he hasn't had too much screentime in the series, instead of Wendy who is an annoying character and gets so much screentime that one would almost believe that Mashima is into little girls (or at least likes drawing them).

I liked this chapter. We get elfman on the team and homeboy got buff. Also I like the design of the announcer. I thought that whole sky labyrinth went by a little too fast but still a good chapter

That preliminary event was really quick though
You expect getting out of a maze to last a few chapters but I guess the real meat of the arc is going to be the 8 guilds competing against each other.

Pretty good chapter - I liked how Lucy's newest spirit (the one that had been implied to have been a gift from her father) was silver key spirit, rather than one of the Zodiac ones (as we haven't really seen much of the silver spirits), I liked how the team rosters can be changed if necessary (so the other characters can get involved), and I thought it was pretty funny at times. Plus, it was certainly surprising to see the chapter come out so early.

I'm already not getting my hopes too high for Elfman, because it's what probably will happen. But I guess he'll only leave the team after this arc, maybe he'll stay for 2 arcs if we get a Rescue Wendy arc.
