About that being one of Robin's clones just before she was attacked by Hyozou, it probably wasn't since the last time Robin demonstrated a full clone it's eyes were closed the entire time. I'm pretty sure that is significant to clone Robin.
Chapter 639: "I`ll protect all" -Discussion

I think Zoro v. Hyouzou will probably be one of the more even fights (depending on who Usopp and Chopper get matched up with). Hyouzou seems to be a bit under Luffy's level, so combine that with a poisoned Zoro and me thinks we've got a good one on our hands folks.

Her clone in the color spread had its eyes open, so just because she didn't at the time doesn't mean she can't.

Well never mind! But why in the world did she walk and talk with her eyes closed like that when we first saw it in the story? I hope it gets explained later.

@HTC:
I think you're mistaken there: Luffy didn't aim @ the swords, obviously, thus he touched Hyouzou's body, which is poisonous.Assuming Hyouzou's poison doesn't "pass" over to his blades, unless he touches Zoro with his skin, Zoro's safe from poisoning.
No. Hyouzou said he poisoned Luffy. He did it out of instinct, but he did it. It wasn't just because Luffy touched his skin.

There's a small wound on Luffy's forearm, he didn't get poisoned by touching Hyouzou he counter attacked when Luffy hit him.
-
Naw, Zoro will probably get poisoned immediately and to fight on the brink of death and still own him like Cabaji. Eh, I don't like to say probably with one piece but Zoro will most likely have some sort of handicap like usual. Maybe we will even learn how he lost his eye this fight.
yea i thought about that
but wouldn't it over power Zoro too muchthis guy before drugs took gear 2 on managing to defend against it's speed and Strength
now his own speed and strength has dramatically improved remember luffy knew this guy was strong
Now if Zoro is injured/poisoned with his opponent being at a level luffy recognises as strong wouldn't it be too much over kill for how strong Zoro is in comparison? -
anyone get the feeling that Luffy is holding some more lethal moves back? I mean, some might say this is obvious
I'll be one of those guys :P
Back in the Plaza it was easy to tell he was just playing around, testing out his new stuff. Doubt he put 100% effort into the attacks either even beyond holding back the Gears. If he was actually serious, Hakified G2 Bazooka to the face and it's game over. Even in the water, as you say, he goes for something like Snake Shot and casually comments "Hm, it's not as powerful in the water!" instead of using G2 to act quickly.
this guy before drugs took gear 2 on managing to defend against it's speed and Strength
You should probably view that as just being typical Oda misdirection. Hyouzou only managed because Luffy held back an ass-ton of power, basically using 10% effort, in actuality G2 Luffy would stomp Hyouzou with one attack in a split second. Annoying and making both Hyouzou & Luffy look bad? Yep. But it's most likely how it is. Oda uses this technique all the time to mislead readers in order to create more tension.

it just occured to me that wadatsumi is naked and has pubic hair or maybe I'm reading it wrong >.>
-
He's got some kind of loin cloth over him.
-
If zoro gets injured atleast we'll be able to see Chopper's awesome off-screen doctoring skills >:D
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Post merge abuse Also maybe sanji IS stronger than jimbei. I think this because sanji wasn't using haki and obviously not fish,an karate when he kicked wadatsumi and it equalled to the damage of jimbei's roundhouse kick with haki + Gyojin karate. So even if sanji doesn't have armor haki he is still ridiculously strong >.> I can't wait to see another one of those beautiful anti manner kick courses in the anime

I notice alot more when I re-read the chapter. Before hyouzou attacks robin it looks like she has some sort of hand propeller thing behind her.Looks pretty fun

Jinbe doesn't know Haki…
-
I like when people assume the damage was "as big" when 1 knocked the giant over by kicking is HAND (I don't fall when I get my hand kicked). The other just had him screaming a lil' bit. It may have been equaly powerful, but the visuals don't imply that. Its just speculation.
-
Jinbe doesn't know Haki…
How do you know -_- Also it showed the haki effects like it did for luffy with the electricity
-
I believe everyone on this level know some form of Haki. Also, Jinbe might be stronger than Sanji because he can hurt Df users Luffy). If Sanji can than well..
-

Whitebeard didn't know Haki but he was the strongest man in the world.
-
Whitebeard has CoC haki. The same kind of haki Rayliegh and Shanks has.
-
Jinbe wouldn't have too much use for Haki anyway, due to Fishman Karate already letting him hurt Devil Fruit users.
-
This isn't haki? :wassat:

No, it's sheer manliness.
-
So, you're implying he knows Haki by using as evidence… what?
Whitebeard didn't know Haki but he was the strongest man in the world.
There is evidence that White Beard was capable of using all 3 types of Haki. 1 - Slapping Ace in his sleep counts as 2 forms right there. 2 - WB's crew mentioned Luffy had CoC just like he did.
-
Whitebeard didn't know Haki but he was the strongest man in the world.
Wait what? Didn't he punch the crap out of Akainu during the war?
-
Jinbe wouldn't have too much use for Haki anyway, due to Fishman Karate already letting him hurt Devil Fruit users.
Hum, everybody can hurt DF users. Luffy is rubber so a special case, but generally speaking DF only provides one random power, not "immunity" !
Only some logias can't directly be hurt, and I'm not sure if Jinbei could hurt them when they turn "elemental" because then they aren't made of water anymore (except Ao Kiji, and maybe Akainu; Kizaru is light, Ace was fire, fishmen karate can nothing against their elemental form) -

To be fair, WB was very inconsistent with his Haki usage, which might confuse some people. He did manage to hurt Akainu, but there was an earlier instance where he tried to attack Kizaru and failed to hurt him at all.

Well, Jinbe did fight on par with Ace in the past. I don't remember if actual water was involved in that fight, though.

It is safe to assumew Hyouzou was stronger pre-transformation than Hody. Zoro owned Hody underwater while Hyouzou was able to block Luffy's Jet Pistol.
So know they both have transformed and stilll for Hody to be acknowledged as a threat Oda had to brought the fight to underwater fight.
The facts that Hyozou being stronger than Hody and Zoro being a bit weaker than Luffy makes this a good fight. Still a warm-up though. And we don't know if they will be able to finish it. You know there is Noah on top of them.
-
But did he block the gear 2 with his body or with his blade
But again pre drugs he took on gear 2 hit
Now he's transformed he should be a whole lot strongerwill oda really make this a walk over warm up fight For Zoro

They way i see it, you're all partially right. Look @ this page:
http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/610/5
Assuming the translation is accurate, Hyouzou says he accidentally poisoned Luffy. That, IMO, couldn't have been done by using the swords unless Hyouzou can pass his poison onto his swords.
One this seems certain: Hyouzou did block Luffy's attack. How exactly, is the question. As for the wound, it's not necessarily done from a sword: a poisonous sting can make very bad wounds (ie: snakes, jellyfish).
-
Whitebeard definitely had haki. His crew confirmed it a number of times, including the kingbition type. He was just too old and sick to use it well, as his vitality was slipping as a result. His one attempt to use kingbition only resulted in him falling to his knees in pain.

Hyouzou blocked the attack with a sheathed sword (the only one he had with him). His poison comes from the fact that he's a blue ringed octopus, which is a very poisonous species. He probably poisoned Luffy's arm with one of his tentacles as a reflex. Since it wasn't a conscious movement, Luffy's mantra wouldn't pick it up (read Luffy vs Enel).

The pic shows Hyouzou being sent backwards while holding a sheathed sword: doesn't necessarily mean the sword, sheathed or not, was used to block Luffy's attack.
I'm actually familiar with the blue ring octopus: i've seen them on a documentary on NG. They're really small but their poison packs quite a punch.
Totally agree with the conscious movement reference. I would assume that, as a reflex action, Hyouzou used one of his tentacles to hit Luffy: this would explain why Luffy didn't dodge.
-
why oda doesn't draw a dolphin or even a killer whale on fish-men island i think it would be awesome..
-
Sigh, Oda did a bad thing whe nh e created Haki….all arguments esems to be based around whether something was haki or not... and Urouge is definately correct about Hyouzou. Also, the guy's a octopus. ITs a natural ability, they can't just PASS poison onto a sword unless he busted his poison glands or w/e and covered his swords with them. you don't see the sea urchin dudes shooting spikes out of their mouth or applying spikes to their weapons
-

Oh, i really don't remember that part. I remember he stabbed both Aokiji and Kizaru with his spear but none of them took damage, and when he punched Akainu I though he succeded 'cause of his DF ability.
But, well, my bad then. -
Whitebeard didn't know Haki but he was the strongest man in the world.
He was confirmed to have COC. Due to his age and health it varried when he used it. It seems everyone on the level of the SHP have or know about haki.

But, well, my bad then. His attempt to use it on the bottom left (yes this is the correct translation): http://www.mangafox.com/manga/one_piece/v58/c569/10.html
And then in reaction to Luffy using it instead: http://www.mangafox.com/manga/one_piece/v58/c570/2.html
"just like the old man and red hair"When he attempted to stab Aokiji: http://www.mangafox.com/manga/one_piece/v58/c567/7.html
"he sliced using haki?" There's no reason someone on his crew would ask such a question unless he could use it.Anyway, the list of evidence goes on, but that should be enough. And it doesn't really pertain to this chapter, anyways.

BTW we have an own thread for this

Luffy said he'll protect all, but there's still the fact that FI will be destroy.
So, do you guys think that Luffy destroying the Island was actually Luffy blaming himself for unable to protect the Island? -

sanji wasn't using haki and obviously not fish,an karate when he kicked wadatsumi and it equalled to the damage of jimbei's roundhouse kick with haki + Gyojin karate
Jimbei's attack was clearly stronger. Sanji kicked him in the head when he was lying down, Jimbei deflectected a punch with his whole body behind it and doubled strength, made him stumble back and fucked up his knuckles in the process, I mean just look at his hand. There is also no indication that Jimbei used Haki, the sparks signify that he hurt his hand so badly (it's the same effect as when Sanji kicked Kuma in Thriller Bark and when Luffy gripped Hody's ribs, complete with the "KKRAAAAACK!!" sound effect), and for that matter we don't know if Sanji himself used Haki (though I don't think so myself). Jimbei punches harder than Luffy and kicks harder than Sanji, it's consistent. I still think Sanji is stronger than Jimbei by virtue of having Diable Jambe and most likely Haki too on top of his natural strength. It should all be made clear in a few weeks from now.
-
Can this not turn into a verses thread. Peple can go back and forth for days about their personal opinions (I am guilty of this myself). I personally believe Jinbe just used a FMK move without haki. Jinbe can control the water in the area and maybe the water in a person body. Wadatsumi hand looks bad. I wonder what did Jinbe do to it or was it just that strong of a kick. If so, Jinbe is stronger than what he has shown in the WBW. Which makes me wonder how strong is he under water.

My god, I hope Decken didn't die

btw is there a chapter this week
last week we got chapter early for what was double issue right?
and thus no chapter this week. or do i have that wrong

Same here. It's kind of funny how Oda made me feel sympathy for a stalker who I really didn't care for at first beyond design.

Don't worry, there is a chapter this week. Jump came out early because it went for sale early (Saturday instead of Monday).

what was reasoning for early sale? some kind of holiday on monday?
-
My god, I hope Decken didn't die
I think quite a few of us share that sentiment. He's grown on me, too.
-

Respect for the Elderly or something like that, I suppose. It's on Mondy.
-
As if, he's too cool to die, thinking so is ridiculous.
-
I wonder if Caribou will still appear in this arc. Anyway I also hope Decken doesn't die completely. He seemed pretty interesting unlike Hody.
-
-
Ok, just read the chapter, and noticed a serious mistake on the mangastream scanlation.
The part where Hody is talking about dropping the Noah on FI to eliminate the Straw Hats, they left out a rather important line.
"Our first priority right now is to have the Straw Hat Pirates eliminated, we can't handle them right now!!"
This is the first time Hody's ever admitted he and his men are no match for the Straw Hats.
It also makes him look a lot more pathetic (as if that was even possible).Off-topic: For some reason, the controls in the text box for posting here is completely missing in my firefox since last week.
It comes up fine in IE, but in firefox I can't even separate my lines with returns.
Anyone else having this issue, and know how to fix it? I bet it has something to do with that firefox update that was applied a few days ago…
