I think I will never understand why scanlator translators don't translate titles. How can a reader be interested in a serie which name is ununderstandable for most people ?
Well French official Translators/(Editors?) give English titles… Still, Crazy Zoo speaks me a little more than Oumagadoki Doubutsuen...

Decided to check this out after reading a summary of the new anime and holy crap! I'm caught up now to ch. 73 and really wish new chapters got translated faster because this series is awesome!

It's kind of surprising that it's serialized weekly though when only 73 of 132 chapters have been scanlated. Hopefully with the release of the anime and it potentially bringing new readers the demand for more chapters will be enough incentive for the scanlation groups to get caught up.

I'm not sure if I remember correctly but did he learn about the human anatomy (especially the bones and their functions) from himself being tortured the same way?

I'm absolutely loving the manga so far, really wish we'd get more chapters soon. Kaneki has become such a badass in the recent chapters.

Saw the first ep of the anime and thought this looks incredibly interesting and then kinda forgot about it until last night when I saw this thread and have since been binge reading forgoing all responsibilities.
Must say, I'm not really interested in the back stories of bit part characters, but other than that, this is good shit.

Do you mean the series itself was on hold, or the scanlation groups? Also, if it's never been as fast as it is now wouldn't that mean it has gotten faster over time?
Either way, I still hope they get caught up because it's pretty addictive.

Chapters 80 and 81 seem to have been translated, though 79 is missing. Just reading on their forum some spoilers from the raws and it seems it gets even more enthralling. Cannot wait to have more chapters.
The chapters are summarized and even for the most part translated all the way up to chapter 135.
This was hyped on tumblr to all hell and back.. I am soo gonna start it but tbh I wanna go at the anime because I am already reading a ton of mangas and 0 watchng zero animes

I think k-dom meant quick as the overall length of the series. The transformation has occurred like within 10 volumes and this kind of transformation either middle or later, not this early stage.
It's not really the number of volumes rather than it being a bit of an asspull. The way he became one of the strongest gouhl of the serie was a bit hair splitted in my opinion.

One-eyed ghoul were stated to be much more powerful then the normal ghouls and Kaneki did eat some of that guys meat which is why he became strong , not to mention that he has Rize kagune . This is basically like how he fought against and had out-burst of power against Nishio and Amon .

He was a one eyed ghoul with Rize Kagune before and was trashed completely so those points don't really explain the sudden boost power. The explanation rather seems to be this psychological autophagy. Also with Nishio the out bursts were temporary whereas his new state is permanent now.

its not JUST that. dont forget he's an avid reader who soaks up what he's read, its how he learns to fight… i.e. when he got captured by gourmet and fought the big buffoon.

I guess he just wanted to kill jason that badly. the biggest change was that he became more aggressive and learned to stop giving fucks which propelled him to his level right now. Being a one-eyed ghoul also helps differentiate the level between a regular ghoul and a halfie

That, or just tell me does the series actually prove grey at all? Or are all the characters really just horrible murders that if I want too see them all killed already I just shouldn't even bother?

I know the eng scans are still a decent ways behind but regarding the power-up… It has been said(at least in rumors during 13's intro... which must be scanned by now since you're talking Jason) that ghouls gain greater power when consuming ghouls, however most ghouls find cannibalizing to be disgusting and refuse it. Kaneki reached a breaking point with hunger, and getting that initial bite out of Jason gave him a burst of power combined with his quick witted-ness to take him out. And powered up further by consuming his kagune. It isn't really an asspull since it was demonstrated with Touka vs Tsukiyama prior to then.
And to further demonstrate the ghoul consuming ghoul power boost; spoil tagging since I'm unsure of forum etiquette with non-translated manga even though it's half a year~ old...
! Kaneki goes on a consumption spree of ghouls and failure-ish hybrids(an act that even Tsukiyama is disgusted by.) And as a result he gets an even more massive gain in power and further transforms.

I don't read scans, hence why I was so looking forward to the anime. I am pretty sure that at this point I won't like the series, but I would still like to know if maybe there is something really interesting about what the series is trying to do. It may seem weird, but I do this with a lot of things, not just manga. Like if there is a show or movie I am not sure I will like, or if I know I won't like but still feel compelled to know what happens, I just read the wiki summaries of the plot.
Ghoul must eat human flesh to survive. That is why they need to kill and the core point of serie. There will be gouhl who think it is normal to kill human other who think it os better to behave has human as possible human who thinks all ghouls are monsters, human who will fall in love with ghouls… I think the serie is pretty good on that aspect but maybe the anime doesn't do it justice.

In case you didn't noticed the scans release are completely random. It's best to follow twisted scan in my opinion. They are the ones who translate since the beginning and release at least 2 chapters every sunday
We just have to wait till they finish scanlating. Since the releases are not in order then you just gotta wait longer or learn to read jap characters.
