Well I wasn't expecting that. Holy shit Kenpachi went demon Hulk mode.
But….is it just darkened skin and more raw power? I was expecting more Yachiru tbh

Urgh all of these royal guard quincys have just been the worst most smug villains in all of Bleach. All except for the weird hand guy were exactly the same personality wise.

Ugh, I have to agree. Lille drove me mad, Gerard is your usual Yammy-esque loud brute, and while Askin started off as quirky and kinda funny, the more his fight with Urahara went on…..:X
Serious question I ask: can't we have one (or more?) Quinzis that aren't complete jerks and have some reluctance to this whole war biz? I always have to think about FMA and its Ishval survivors, and the difference between those willing to move on but not forget (that chief) and those who want revenge and are caught in their own bitter fate (Scar), blinding themselves to the circumstances.
So now we have seen everyone's bankai except for Aizens right?
Can't wait for the end of this arc when it's revealed this entire arc was an illusion made by Aizens bankai :ninja:
Isshin?
And a couple of vice captains as noted already, plus Squad 0.
I'm not counting much o Squad 0 Bankais, though. VCs, not sure. However we did see Hisagi was training to achieve it. To complete the story without even showing any payoff would be a weird decision, even for Kubo.
As for Isshin's Bankai, it's been noted by both Aizen and Isshin that it puts a strain on his body and can't be used if he's injured a lot. It would be really weird if that was the last of it. Seeing Isshin is nowhere in sight, though…

There wasn't reluctance, but at least one was fun. Mask was the antagonist that Bleach needed, but didn't deserve.

I mean if we're talking style and uniqueness, than Mask takes the cake!
oh great his bankai is MOAR SPEED AND POWAAAAA after his shikai could CUT EVERYTHING (even though it didnt)
so creative, much amazing

Just like the main character.
Really, his weapon even got smaller.
To be quite fair, that simple Bankai fits Kenpachi pretty perfectly.
His sword broke in the last chapter. That's not it's Bankai form.
Well, it might fit Kenpachi as he is perfectly, but some better author, or a less spent one, might give him an actual ability instead just buffing up his stats and putting war paint on his face.
Btw, why doesn't that needlessly insane over the top scene of him tearing that giant arm get more attention? He bit his finger and just pulled that whole giant puncher out of the shoulder socket. Was that the best thing Kubo could think of? I don't even…
So this Bankai reminds me of tensa zangetsu a lot, even the design somewhat. Maybe Kenpachi and Ichigo follow similar bankai concepts? It's a lot like tensa zangetsu when ichigo was going out of control hollow mode.

The Quinzis as a whole are mind-bogglingly botched; They're not an organization, or species or whatever, they're just a parade of Excuses. Excuses for the protagonists to get some last panels of "character-development" flashbacks, and to reveal what their shikai/bankai looks like so it can be ticked off the to-do list.
Really, this whole arc has just been a series of underwhelming payoffs to every lingering thread from the series, and Kennys bankai can be thrown onto that pile. Bestial Color Swap Kenpachi looks cool enough, but the problem is that the bankai arrives at the wrong time. A long-awaited shonen hero-transformation should arrive at the moment when things look the most dire; when the hero is pummeled into a bloodied mess and the tension is unbearable, thats when you bust out an "unlocking of innate power to turn the tables!" moment…and the preceding chapters simply don't deliver on this front. Sure, Kenpachi suffers a few hits, but nothing to suggest that this is his most desperate hour, and Shrimpo and Byakuya are still flitting around being smug and unscathed, so tension is not exactly running high. Kenpachis bankai reveal does not feel like a dramatic payoff to careful buildup like, say, Zoro cutting steel, but rather like "oh, I guess we're doing Kenpachis Bankai now?"
It was the same thing with Urahara. Whatever you think of his Bankai itself and its 1-chapter showcase, Urahara vs Askin was not exactly an action-packed nailbiter of a fight, so it all just falls kinda flat in the end. Its coasting on the excitement of "heres the appearance of a thing you wanted to see, on paper" vs integrating that thing in a dramatically satisfying way.

Complaining as usual in this thread
Where did Zarakis sword broke ? Mind posting page as I dont see it even as I look through previous chapter.
Geralt made a comment on bankai form of Zarakis blade not being very impressive.

During that last blow that planted him face down in the ground probably. Yachiru's speech prevents us from seeing the top half of his blade.
Geralt made a comment on Bankai form being a minimal transformation. Then comments how the blade is mangled.
I don't know, considering it looks chipped and it's top half looks like it broke off, I'm happier believing it got damaged while fighting.
You can try to convince me otherwise, but I don't care enough.
reminded me of Magi and the finalis. Boosted stats and red color scheme.

My mind went to Final Fantasy VI's Berserk status, turn red, get a power boost, and do nothing but auto attack.
Also saw another place compare bankai Kenpachi to Warcraft Fel Orcs.

Pretttttty much.
Like Kubo's looking over a list and going "hmm….I guess I can put in that here."
So, i guess its Kenpachi vs Byakuya and Hitsugaya now! Realistically they should get recked :D
This battle between Kenpachi and Gerard reminded me about the battle between Zoro and Pica. Cutting their way in the giant enemy, also zoro and K are kinda similar in personality too.
Wait, you guys think that the battle is over? I thought that we're going to see his regenerate and get bigger again. He already regenerated from beign decapicated once, why not this time?

might be two of him now lol.
Ok and so what has this little girl to do with the Bankai?
Aizen
Ichigo
Orihime
Don Kanonji
Riruka
Tsukishima
Renji
Hitsugaya
Mayuri
Nimaiya
Suifeng
Urahara
Hiyori
Luppi
That coolhorn guy
Ulquiorra
Nnoitra
Glasses scientist espanda
Yammy
Thunderwitch
Dordoni
Every single quincy without exceptionSir, I think you forgot this is Bleach. Everyone is "obnoxious and tiresome."
Even characters that barely get used in any meaningful way most of time?…...like Chad?
Every time Chad gets mentioned I have to cry. Introduced like a badass then reduced to fodder. He was meant for a better manga.
Ok and so what has this little girl to do with the Bankai?
Yeah, the cliffhanger from last chapter really didn't transition into anything on that front. She….healed him? Was the key to unlocking the power?
The one thing I appreciate about this chapter is the small consistency with Ichigo's (previous) bankai. I think Byakuya mocked the minimalist design at first but then realized that the possibility of an ability was just translated into extreme speed and strength. The same seems to be true here, although I'm sure there's some bullshit catch we don't know about yet.

If you dont care enough then I wont waste much of my time on writing long lines I just didnt seen panel of Zarakis shikai being broken as I though there is something I missed.
Last attack that Geralt landed on Zaraki before Bankai was here http://www.mangareader.net/bleach/668/16
and we can see his shikai being whole piece holded by his right arm and here it looks like Zaraki is facing down and his shikai is next to him http://www.mangareader.net/bleach/668/18
In this weeks chapter I liked how Zaraki punched Geralt to the Jaw - http://www.mangareader.net/bleach/669/14 - I missed out on this first time I was reading chapter.
I wonder, with Zarakis bankai being shown already he will most likely fight with Geralt for a bit more panels, maybe over a chapter? Also Hitsu will very likely fly after Kenpachi to save him from falling all the way down to SS. I wonder what is drawback of Ken-chans Bankai being activated, perhaps he is completely loosing control and will attack everyone ? I wonder if any of Squad 0 members could match this bankai with their powers..

Seeing how you seem to like Bleach to some extent, probably best not to try and argue stuff with us on here. We're all just bitter old people who remember Bleach from the god old days, and mostly like to talk about the shit that it is. On pill day we talk about the few good things that have come from it in the last few years.

Like I said, you can't see if it's intact at that point due to Yachiru's speech. So the question remains.
His Bankai being a destroyed version of his Shikai (along with boosted stats and war paint) is too retarded of an option to even consider for me. Is it some kind of a balancing thing? Was he too broken with a sword intact, so Kubo nerfed him? Why not turn his sword into a butter knife? Does he even need his sword when he can just fight with his teeth and neck muscles?

Im 29 and I loved SS but also liked loved plenty of moments later on. I catched up around time when Ichigo fought Uliq Sequnda Etapa.
Sure its shitty manga now in one way but on the other hand it became very refined in what it was with shitty and good side of it. Art and plenty of designs are great and a lot of stuff is not as bad as many people here are trying to make it to be. Though when I seen JB "A" letter reveal I lost my shit - in very negative way - over how shitty reveal it was and then we gotten Ichibei being brough back to life with Ichigo saying his name. Terrible terrible moment along with few others comparable. But art is quite great, as much as few characters that Kubo created(Askin being latest best example for me).

I can't really say how bad Bleach is, because I lost the ability at some point to really care. At this point it's reading the chapters and just going "Well that's Bleach for you". Some people seem surprised at the lack of imagination with Kenpachi's bankai, but that just seems par for the course. I will admit some of the designs can look neat, and I still love the Pernida page with the giant hands, but most of the character designs at this point just don't do it for me. The second form for some of the quincies were just too over the top that it felt way too out of place. But hey, if you enjoy the designs good for you. You're getting more positive stuff out of this than I am.
Kenpachi has the most OP Bankai in all of Bleach: the ability to ignore other people's longwinded, nonsensical explanations about their abilities
At least it's not some kind of contrived bankai ability that could counter Geralt's ability perfectly. Doesn't mean that the "MOAR POWER" theme is better idea, but… meh. It's actually kinda refreshing in stupid way. I doubt that's gonna cut it. There's possibility that Bach would step down and absorb/kill geralt himself to save the hassle, thereby denying any kind of victory for Zaraki and the rest to claim.
If there's anything I can learn from this Bleach chapter, is to embrace your inner beast, #YOLO
Really, is there even any positive lesson that we can learn from Bleach?
so is that little girl the personification of his sword or something?
No, She's the shinigami, Kempachi is the sword. She called the "Bankai".
Watch out. You might confuse him more.
well that makes very little sense lol
so is that little girl the personification of his sword or something?
she is his sword spirit she disappeared the first time he used his power he is like the 1st espada stark that had his power out in the open as a girl as well.
oh great his bankai is MOAR SPEED AND POWAAAAA after his shikai could CUT EVERYTHING (even though it didnt)

remember Gin's bankai?
sometimes having a stronger version of your shikai is the right process for your bankai

Gin's Bankai had a noticeable difference compared to Shikai.
The way Kenpachi is written, it probably wouldn't be questioned by anyone if he was doing this same thing without even activating Bankai.
Do we know where is Isshin and why he isn't pwning these assholes to the ground?

yeah except he prolly couldnt do it against an opponent that can regenerate and get stronger because of it. I appreciate the simplicity of his bankai because kenpachi is and always has been a powerhouse and I would not accept it to be something completely different
edit: I understand he's a one-dimensional character and his red skin is designed to evoke a change in his being but yeah
also what's the noticeable difference on gin's bankai? it's been a far long while since i read those chapters but his bankai adds speed + length to his shikai
It also added poison, but he kept that a secret
@Myu:
Do we know where is Isshin and why he isn't pwning these assholes to the ground?
we still have not seen his bankai either
This is the pre-Bankai. Kenpachi's first issue was being a no name, he must speak with his sword.
Knowing this, spectacular chapter. The Tiger doesn't like miracles.
Btw, i would love to check Yumichika's Shikai & Bankai.
@The:

I don't see why. Just straight up overwhelming raw strength has been his whole deal the entire series.
Honestly, I like it. In the midst of all these esoteric abstract powers and absurd "prep time batman" levels of planning, it's very refreshing to see one guy just say "screw this" and punch people in the face until they stop spouting pretentious nonsense.
His character, in essence, is the in-universe personification of a tableflip.
I expected his sword would look different, that's all.
I expected his sword would look different, that's all.
Zaraki after activating his bankai became broken so did his sword Maybe that was Kubos intention
And here I wished that Zaraki's bankai had something to do with Yachiru's shikai.
