Classic Kishi. If the parallel isn't exactly 1:1, people won't get it, so he helps us avoid that by having a reproduction to an exacting degree.
So it's like someone else said. Either Karin is her mother and is represented to an exacting degree, or Sakura made a very strong effort to raise her daughter to be an almost exact duplicate of a creepy stalker of her husband.

Chou Chou and Sarad make a good pair. I'm happily surprised Kishi decided to focus on the former. Like, she has so little to do with Naruto and Sasuke this comes almost completely out of left field as her only connection is being one of the classmates of Sasuke's daughter. Of course, also the daughter of their friend Chouji but side characters have been put off for so long I really did not expect this and am enjoying this.
Not so much the Uchiha shenanigans.

I must confess that I don't quite get all the CousCous love here. I guess that shes sorta bratty and confident, but…well...
- Choji is fat, and since shes Chojis daughter, she is also fat
- Fat Anko says that they should go out for eating, and more eating
- CousCous says that training is bothersome, but she might consider the ninja exam if it'd help her lose weight (this is her first ine in the Gaiden)
- Damn, training is bothersome, lets go eat. Because she likes food you see.
- "Cous Cous, you should probably train. Because you're fat"
- OMG my father is so embarrasing- Because he's eating the wrong potato chips!!! TWIST, the embarrasement was not due to his presence, but food related!
- Choji eats larger burgers than her own in front of her! How rude!

- And finally, mommy says to just eat whatever you want, because….uh...everyones gotta die anyway. Uh okay.
Theres a definite pattern to the characters utilization, is all I'm saying, and this is just in 3 chapters.

The special chapter with Akamaru, while far from stellar, was better than the two Not-really-Boruto chapters released so far.
(It's so little Boruto related that he didn't even appear at all in here. Awesome).

-no wangstEven if the comedy does boil down to all fat jokes, its still an improvement over everything else around it. Also, Choji was pretty great in part one, you just know she's hiding a secret butterfly form in there, so she can probably turn into Yoruichi from Bleach.

Chocolate rain is just faking it, she's as insightful as shikamaru, but if she's blunt with Salad, she'll just hide or something.
She was trying to get Salad to think "It's stupid, they are your family" or something that she could bounce back to her and stop the love cancer, but Salad is so dense that it failed.

To be fair, there is an actual reason behind it. Being fat is part of the Akimichi fighting style, so it's not just "she is fat 'cause her father is fat". She even brought it up last chapter that now she is training hard she need to keep eating all kind of trash - all the Akimichi ninjutsu work by consuming calories, a thin Akimichi wouldn't be able to pull those techniques out.

Would you believe I actually enjoyed the Salad/ChouChou part of the story? Compared to all the crap from the last few years, save for the Akamaru story, it's a descent tale (so far)
Or maybe it's Sasuke entering the scene again that reminded me "at least it's not that bad."I'm hopping on the ChouChou bandwagon, I really like her. Her constant yapping about food and body image is a little worrying, but to be honest Chouji had some of it too, either from himself or from other characters. Furthermore, it's a good deviation from the general formula. I loathe the stereotypical girl characters that are perfectly thin, or just a teensy tiny bit chubby, and yet they go "oooh I'm soo fat, eek I gained a pound, I need to go on a diet!". ChouChou at least got a reason, plus she got her clan and we know why she needs the weight. Not to mention, some of her behavior is pretty spot on for how some girls her age act, and putting that together with your local moping & Intelligent girl Salad, it creates a surprisingly good combination.
Maybe I'm a little too positive, it's not like I can't see the problems with her character, but among all the Uchiha moping it's such a welcome change of pace and it helps tone down the bad sides of Salad's character.
