But then Kizaru "hands-up-high" to Beckmann was badass.
Until Kizaru ignores him next chapter & Beckmann stands there like a chump, ruining it.

Holy shit, he looks like a 40 year old.
I think someone said before that maybe Oda used his own face as reference.
Emphasis on "maybe".
@S.C.:

Oh man, you're spoiling the fun!!:getlost:
I'm not sure why, but Akainus Magama fists look way smaller than they do in the manga
Like in the manga they are huge as big as someones head or bigger
Anyways the episode I thought was good at some points
Cobys face aside, the voice actor was excellent I think in his acting here
Blackbeard filler worked excellently
I loved the bit where Benn Beckman comes in, but then i loved that moment in the manga and they would have to do something phenomenally stupid to have ruined it
I'm just hoping they dont do some stupid ass training filler episodes when this is all over
I wouldnt be able to handle it if they did
Use the time to finally do the cover stories Toei
There has never been any better oppurtunity
I think they should have gotten a better voice actor for ben beckman. His badassness got cut in half.
Episode was good, I do agree that Coby filler dragged on though. I also agree with Asuron, I'd like to see some cover stories now. Specifically interested in the CP9 Independent Report.
Animation was pretty good, than we had Smoker appearing for some reandom reason but whatever nice to see him again.
What "random reason"?! Smoker appeared here because he appeared in canon.

I know that, I felt it was random still but it was fine with me too
Better late than never, for those who want to see the screenshots
This episode was absolutely terrible. Animation, pacing, filler, everything. I should know after all this years but I'm still amazed to see how they are able to butcher the wonderful source material in the worst possible way… I guess the rare decent episodes (like last week's) always give me hope that there could be a whole string of good ones but that's just wishful thinking.
That being said, Garp punching Burgess was a nice touch.
That was f*cking badass!
Man, how can Toei make Shanks's entrance so goddamn underwhelming?
I literally facepalmed.
Mixed feelings this week.
Some scenes were good, while others were bad.
It's so on. Shanks. Fuck yeah
How can they ruin Shanks' entrance like that there's not even a shockwave effect so Coby just passes out for no reason. In this arc they showed they can up their game in more important moments yet they screw up the two most important ones. This and Ace getting punched in the chest. They need to get a better planner because they've proved they can do it but somehow they still fail at the wrong moments.
Coby's desperation was dragged out a little but personally I didn't mind as it's just building and building until the speech. Good job by Mika Doi who voices Coby by the way.
The pacing was just awful this week, and this arc may go down as having the worst music choices on any One Piece arc.
Wasn't as good as I expected… but as long as we have the manga, I don't really care.
Was I the only one who heard Doberman's voice all over the place? A bunch of fodder marines had the same voice actor I guess.
This was a severely weird episode, constantly having me expecting something good to happen, only to be disappointed frequently. The animation was also inconsistent, in terms of quality, and was quite disheartening at particular moments. Most aspects of this episode was quite terrible, actually. There were some good touches here and there, but they are overwhelmed by the overall poorness of the entirety of the episode, if you ask me.
Shanks and Benn were badass as usual, but, compared to their respective manga entrances (more specifically, Shanks'), Toei just failed on this one, I'm going to have to admit. Seriously, they should be able to do better than that, for sure. I dunno, I don't want to sound like I'm going too harsh on Toei or anything, I just had my expectations too high up, I suppose.
Either way, slightly below average episode overall…
Hm, this episode had it's moments, like Garp punching out Burgess, but I can't really say it was very good. Of course, part of the problem is the content. Coby embarassing himself for twenty-three minutes just isn't compelling, especially since he came off as even more pathetic than in the manga. Why should I care about Mr. Marine's family when their faces are obscured? Why should I care about Coby when he gets up on his naively idealistic soapbox in the middle of a battle that the Navy is damn justified in fighting? Why should I care about Shanks when there's no sort of fanfare for it? Why should I care about the episode when the art is so dull?
However, that said, I did lol at the part where that guy's buddy gets shot and he goes ''Don't worry guys, I got this! I'll help him get back!'' and gets plugged himself.
Also it's nice to see Coby took up Ace's banner to make horrendous guttural noises for 90 % of his screentime.
I've come…to review this episode.
-Recap was long as usual.
-Great fighting filler with Blackbeard's crew vs Sengoku and....Garp? Damn, Toei. You couldn't do this shit earlier..
Well Garp did fight too. It's jut this seems like it's literaly gonna take five minutes in total, so we are probably not even gonna see a single scene of them fighting.
Holy shit, he looks like a 40 year old.
Coby has sucessfully transformed into Komatsu.
i expected a haki wave and shanks coming in like rayleigh when he stoped kizaru(the speed of sound moving and epic blocking lol) but still every shanks moment to me is pure gold
pulls hair At some point it was just impossible to look at Blackbeard.Filler was good except for the Coby part I dn't mind the build up but it was too much of it.Liked some tracks used during his scenes.
Unforgivable Shanks vs Akainu.Unforgivable.(still swooned at his voice).Yeah, some good scenes here and there but an ok episode really.
I think they should have gotten a better voice actor for ben beckman. His badassness got cut in half.
THIS.
seriously .. what the hell? XD I didn't remember his voice being so … so ... not manly XD
Hah. Garp put Burgess in his place.
Damn them…how does it make sense to have a 1 week break now when its so close to the end?
I was pretty disappointed with this episode, and the filler wasn't even that bad.
@Monkey:

Exactly.
My god how do you ruin Shank's entrance? He just appeared then quick snapshots of everyone's reaction with that annoying "shocked" sound effect. No dramatic music or anything. I bet next episode has amazing animation even though its all talking.
Why is the OP anime so inconsistent? Studio just cheap? Burgess getting punched by Garp didn't impress me either. Should have been Garp knocking back at least three guys attacking Sengoku at once, preferably level 6 guys. Anybody weaker than Marco who gets punched by Garp should look like Fukurou after any of Franky's real punches.
THIS.

The original voice actor died, actually, so he was replaced with the guy who also voiced Masira.
Don't think the preview has been posted yet.

Animation was fairly average for cobys speech :(
Oh my god…
!
That's fucking hilarious.
I think OP follows a pattern in the anime. I like all of the episodes but in terms of everyone else's standards it goes like this: The arc starts off bad, but then it gets worse in the middle with only one or two good points, but then the final four- five episodes are great. Thats how it was in TB, ID, Saboady, enies lobby, etc.
Don't think the preview has been posted yet.

Hmm, funny that next episode's animation quality seems promising, while they practically disregarded Shank's entrance as a whole in this episode, lol.
Whatever the case, it doesn't look too shabby. Too bad we have to wait two weeks before it comes out, though.
This episode felt like half a chapter.
Also does anyone know the song that started after the halfway point? You know when the Pacifista's were walking….. I don't recall hearing that on any other episodes.
When I attempted to view the episode on onepieceofficial.com, Google claimed it was blocked due to a viral infection. I felt compelled to warn others who might be interested.
Shanks is going to put an end to the most boring arc in the One Piece anime?
My hero~
I'm looking forward to the upcoming flashback, it looks a lot more interesting to me than the past seven months have been.
Of course, there have been plenty of moments during the War arc that I liked; and for this episode, I enjoyed Coby's speech at the end, both what he said itself and the others' reactions to it. I really do think that Coby doesn't belong in the Marines, though. It's just… not something he's cut out for.

Really? They're re-using that same Kizaru animation from previous episodes AGAIN?! Jesus Christ, Toei…

The hell? Beckman doesn't even look right. He looks like some kind of disfigured humanoid creature.
[/cries]
that was awesome ; u ;
found only ONE preview, and I wanted to use a pic from it as my avi but there's stupid red text in the way D'X

hulu ain't working for me either…dunno WHAT's goin on
I was thinking about why Shanks appearance didn't have the same "oomph" that it did in the manga. Then I rememberd this song…
6BY9OYmSJVg
That was the song that played when Shanks saved Luffy back in episode 4.
Maybe Toei is saving it for the episode?
Don't think the preview has been posted yet.

Oh, god, they've done it again… the return of pea-brain Shanks... why do they always draw Shanks with a really tiny head in proportion to his body?
What happened to the days where Toei's animation was consistent? May the old episodes (Alabasta and under) not be as vivid, at least people looked the way they should.
It wasn't a great episode. I give it 6/10. Coby's speech was great, but the filler they did with him sobbing and hyperventilating for 5 minutes was horrible. I literally killed the volume for a little bit because the breathing was so horrible.
And the face, at first I was,
 (How sad, war kills people)
:wassat:(Did his face just look really odd?)
(It really does look odd!)
(This is a serious moment, but man his face looks odd.)
I know it was canon, but we didn't have to stare at it as long in the manga. Garp was awesome though.
Toei really dropped the ball during this arc though.

you've enjoyed and liked one of the most annoying scenes in the war though you say the arc was boring, that says a lot.

continues is beautiful thank you for posting that here!
The hell? Beckman doesn't even look right. He looks like some kind of disfigured humanoid creature.
Most likely wrong, but the point of the picture is the look Kizaru is giving off, Which's pretty damn funny.
/trollface.jpg
Beckman looking bad is canon too. He looks like a shaded blob in the manga.
Toei dropped the ball almost as bad as Oda did that chapter. Shanks, Beckman, and especially Coby looked off in that chapter.
Don't think the preview has been posted yet.
frdO6caIJoQ
it's ironic that the most boring part of the arc will have better arts than the whole thing.
Again, I'm disappointed with Toei.
