I think Earth 2 is officially my favorite anything going right now.
!
Just put on some sunglasses and don't mind the giant fire pit that's making your city glow red. These guys are badasses.

X-Men, Avengers, New Avengers, East of West, Saga, and Superior Spider-Man are my current favorite ongoings. All New X-Men is also really good.
I enjoy reading Saga, Superior Spider-Man, Daredevil, Hawkguy(eye), Manhattan Projects, Swamp Thing, Captain America, Thor: God of Thunder, and Indestructible Hulk right now.
My favorite of those is either Saga, Hawkguy, Superior Spidey, or Manhattan Projects.
FF is pretty great so far in my opinion and I reccomend it. FF just gets better and better.
I dropped Avengers. It gave zero fucks about the characters in it and only focused on high-concept nonsense and technobabble. Hickman wants to write about everything except the Avengers. New Avengers is still great though.
I recommend you also check out New Avengers. It is the flip coin of Avengers and is where Hickman truly shines personally.
Yesterday I finished reading avengers the children's crusade and now I am reading knightfall vol 3, whihc i think started in the 90's
I just recently got the first volume of the New 52 Wonder Woman. I have to say its a pretty great read so far. And its the first time Wonder Woman series that I read anything of Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman is probably the best New 52 book out there (Not setting the bar high, I know.) Got up to date with it last night and it is fantastic.
I love Wonder Woman.
Is anyone reading the new X-Men series? The one with the all female cast? I've been interested in picking it up for a while, because any Kitty Pryde is pretty much good Kitty Pryde. (<3)I just haven't heard any thoughts on it yet.

Scroll up a lil and you might see some words about it.

It's pretty dang great. Read All-New X-Men for the best Kitty Pryde since Chris Claremont though.

But this is the top of the page? :O
And that's what I get for not doing my due diligence and reading the thread.

Those are some great scenes, especially the second, but better Kitty Pryde that Whedon's run on Astonishing? I will definitely have to see it in full to believe it.
I dislike Whedon's Kitty more and more as I reread X-Men runs.

Ha. I appreciate his version even more as I reread Claremont's run.

Did you read Excalibur and Mekanix? Kitty goes through significant development in those books that is kind of squandered in AXM.
I don't blame Whedon though, all of the Excalibur cast were character regressed after that book. Even though it was the only readable X-book during the '90s.
Good thing I didn't read comics in the 90s then. And I wasn't trying to be rude Nex. Apologize if it seemed that way. I need to give Wonder Woman a try. I might check out the TPB first though.
I love specifically for the fact that it isn't about the quintessential Avengers. Hickman has said in interviews that those characters have their own solo books to develop in and frankly it's boring to read about characters so popular that you can never mess with their ever-prevalent status quo.
Avengers has some great world building and a clear overarching story. I thought coming from a manga forum, many would enjoy this more than most superhero books on the market because it is all about introducing high concepts, pushing new ground and developing new characters from the ground up. Once this three year story finishes I probably won't continue with the title unless something equally ambitious comes around. I've always been more interested in Vertigo (and now indie) compared to Marvel/DC because everything feels so vanilla, melodramatic and trope filled. Give me a Morrison or a Hickman any day.
Okay I know I'm real late with this but I just finished volume 1 of Avengers and I really really loved it.
Just finished reading the latest issue of All New X-Men and aside from the jarring change of artwork…it wasn't that bad of a teen romance issue than I thought it was gonna be...

I think it annoyed me more then. I guess it was a fill in for the Battle of the Atom coming up. I just couldn't get into as I did the other issues. I wanted to see more from Rachel and Jean. Hopefully we can get more during the event. I did enjoy Avengers and Superior Spider-Man this week.
Everyone should check out Lemire's Trillium. It was super good.
Im pretty new to reading comics from the west (Started after i watched the Dark Knight Rises). And i have quickly became a fan of the character Booster Gold, but i would like to know what comic he is originally from, so do any of you know that?
I am not much in dc comics , I prefer marvel but I think he is a part of justice league and he even got his own series a while back :(

There was the classic Booster Gold comic, collected in the… what do DC call their essentials? Showcase? Showcase presents: Booster Gold, which lays a lot of the pipe for that character. By and large though, the stuff really worth reading him in are the old Giffen/Dematteis/Maguire Justice League International comics, which are some of the best product DC has ever made, and the pre-new 52 Booster Gold comic, handled by... loadsa people, but mostly writer/artist Dan Jurgens, the actual creator of the character.
Oh and 52! 52 was this amazing weekly comic where Booster played a substantial role. I'd recommend starting with Booster Gold: 52 Pick-up, Past Imperfect, 52 volume 1 or Justice League International volume 1. All are excellent ways to really get a bead on the character.
Hope that was helpful at all

Thank you guys so much!! I actually allready have both the 52 pick-up and Past Imperfect! But i guess im gonna buy some JLI next!
In terms of Booster Gold. "Formerly Known as the Justice League" and "I can't Believe it's not the Justice League" are essential Booster Gold reading.
Love those comics so much.
Booster and Ted are my favourite heroes.
Did Ted at least get brought back to life when they Rebooted the universe again?
@RobbyBevard:

No, but he's supposed to play a role in Morrison's Multiversity
@RobbyBevard:

I wish he did, but no.
We saw Kord Industries in the OMAC series I seem to remember but thats all.
Booster and Jaime have met but it's just not the same in the slightest.
Luckily Booster Gold has a new sidekick currently…..Jonah Hex.
@Syan:
No, but he's supposed to play a role in Morrison's Multiversity
What's up with that event? Wasn't it supposed to come out, like, last summer?
It'll come when it comes, being a high-concept thing with a bunch of low-output artists. And when it does a jacking-off of Morrison will occur like never before, I'm sure, on build-up alone.
@Badass:
What's up with that event? Wasn't it supposed to come out, like, last summer?
Morrison was quoted a few month back saying it is slated for "late 2013" so it could come after some big event. Which is apparently Trinity War/Forever Evil. So it's got to be in the Dec solicits to make good on that claim (since previews through November are already out).
Well. Today the final chapter of Trinity War, DC's big summer event, was released. And I've read it. And. Hmm. Well. Spoiler Tags.
! I'd like to first point out that the final chapter of Trinity War isn't actually an ending. Like at all. Just a set up for "Forever Evil."
! So, we find out that the Head of the Secret Society (which I believe was introduced in the "Justice League of America" comic) is actually Alfred from Earth-3 and that Pandora's Box is actually a doorway letting in the Crime Syndicate (yeah, that Crime Syndicate) from Earth-3. But since in the New 52, the Justice League hasn't met them, they're just like "Whoooooo're you?" And then the Crime Syndicate's like "We're taking over, mannnn".
! The End.
! Oh, also, Cyborg's cyborg half violently rips itself off of Victor Stone's body, and this universe's Atom was not just a mole for the JLA in the Justice League, but a mole for the Crime Syndicate in the JLA being a mole for the Justice League.
!
! So. That's Trinity War Chapter 6 in a nutshell. It was… definitely interesting. Got me back into reading comics on a regular basis. Certainly made me more interested in the wholeJustice League AvengersJustice League of America comic, whose main characters seems to be shaping up solidly as a team. And it really made me interested in the Justice League Dark (and the Constantine solo series). Seriously. Why didn't I read those comics sooner?
! Oh, by the way, you know how I said JLA is shaping up to be really interesting? Yeah, well, naturally, it's gonna change completely into something else entirely. In Spring of Next Year, the comic is going to become the Justice League of Canada and is moving North, with some new characters (well-known and lesser known, including a revamped Canadian Adam Strange). The series is to be written by Canadian writer Jeff Lemire (who seemed to do good work on JLD). It all seems interesting, sure, but like I said, I would have loved to see them do more with the JLA before they changed the status quo entirely.
I don't know if there are any Valiant Comics fans here, but if there are, I urge you to pick up Quantum and Woody. Before I read it, i would have argued that Hawkeye or Daredevil was the best comic out, but this changes things.
Holy shit, DC is just trying to see how far they can go before their entire editorial staff is fired. That's the only explanation.
What is it now?
And I hate their constant editorial shakeups… because its making it hard for ME to stay employed! Everytime I get in good with an editor they leave!
Batwoman creators leave because of contant editorial interference. Aren't allowed to finish their plot. Horrible damage control by Didio.
http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/09/05/jh-williams-iii-walks-off-batwoman-over-dc-not-allowing-her-marriage-to-maggie-sawyer/ Here is some more information on it all.
But it's all terrible.
DiDio also spoke out at Baltimore Con this weekend that because she's a member of the Batfamily, she isn't allowed to be happy and that Batwoman needs to be part of a cohesive universe with the rest of the 52, so the writers aren't going to be able to finish their current arc and from 25 will be jumping straight into a Zero Year crossover with Batman.
DC really haven't done well this week in the slightest and with the cohesive universe comment, it wouldn't surprise me if Azzarello is forced to walk from Wonder Woman, in which case it'll be the final nail in the coffin for me and DC.
And Aquaman and Mera were never married. Even though they're the king and queen of Atlantis.
And Aquaman and Mera were never married. Even though they're the king and queen of Atlantis.
You can tell they back tracked on that to be use against the whole Kathy getting married thing.
"What do you mean we only let hetero couples get married? Arthur isn't married to Mera no no…"
Animal Man got a divorce recently too.
DC's New52: Where happiness goes to die.
In your opinions which should I get Green Lantern: Rebirth, The Flash: The Return of Barry Allen, Batman: The Killing Joke, or Batman: Arkham Asylum- A Serious House on Serious Earth?

Green Lantern: Rebirth if you want to jump into Johns' fantastic GL run.

Thank you!!! I bought Green Lantern: Ribirth because I heard it was good, I have no GL stuff, and it was the cheapest.
I've just finished reading the new Lobo one shot aaand I think I'm done with DC. They've just become the Capcom of the comic book industry, this and Batwoman being the last straw.
Once Sandman Overture is done I can put comic books behind me.
I personally think there's been some decent villains month one-shots. Black Manta, Reverse Flash, Riddler, Court of Owls, Poison Ivy were okay to great. The Harley Quinn one was pretty good up til the last couple pages where she did -super- evil things just cuz, which kinda worries me over the new NEW Suicide Squad. I don't think I'll be finished with DC til they ruin Animal Man and/or Wonder Woman. Or kill off Element Woman.
No, Captain Unamerica was being a dick, as usual. Cyclops was being nice for once. Mr. Fantastic, the smartest man alive, said the Avengers were being whiny little bitches because they weren't on top anymore.
This made me lol.
Hey Im a huge green lantern fan and I've read most of the pre- New 52 stuff and I read the first 10 issues of the new-52 but I stopped cuz I wanted to read rise of the first lantern and whatever event was supposed to be happening with that in one shot. Did anyone read it? And can u give me a review of it? I don't mind being spoiled.
Also I like superior spiderman though I really want them to just stick with it and see it through for like 50 issues or more and since I'm certain that wont happen I'm setting myself up for disappointment.

I'm somewhat interrested what they could have done to make you lose all hope.

First off. I actually didn't mind the Lobo one shot all that much. Sure he wasn't the main man. I went in being all "Man, DC are such dicks. Can't even get Lobo right" which in some ways is true. The writer doesn't really understand what Lobo is. Would you have liked it if Lobo's name wasn't attached to it?
Second. Don't write off comics just because DC are stepping all over quality. There are still some fantastic series out there. It'd be silly to write the medium off as a whole based on DC.
Waaaait…..so they retconned it so the Lobo we've had was an impostor ?
And he now looks like this ?
And he's supposed to be " Cultured, suave, and well-educated" ?
Welcome to completely fucking missing the point Bennett and co.
The Lobo we've been seeing in things like Stormwatch is an imposter it seems. At the end of the one shot, Newbo goes to Earth to find the Lobo we all know and love and kill him.
What this new writer doesn't seem to understand about Lobo is that when he was created, he was a parody of everything that comics were at that point. The new writer has just missed the point really from what I've read in interviews with her.
