Thinking of buying a PS Vita, been a playstation fan boy for quite sometime but I don't know if a Vita is worth it , anyone own the system to testify if its collecting dust or is it frequently used. Would like to have it for a few Musou games.
-
I could never play a musou game on a Vita. But as to whether the system is worth it I think it is particularly if you're like me and skipped out on the PSP.

It depends on what kind of games you like. The main thing you can get out of the Vita is a number of JRPGs. There's Persona 4 Golden, a number of the Atelier games, Ys, and many others. You can buy and download a number of PSP games on the PlayStation store. You then have some interesting exclusives like Gravity Rush and Soul Sacrifice. If you are more of a fan of action type games, you aren't going to get much selection. I've used the Vita off and on, and I will be using it to play Dancing All Night when I get home.

I had a psp back when Final Fantasy Crisis Core came out that was the last game I played on psp, I play all genres of video games except spots very very boring games.

I'm leaning towards fighters, musou , and JRPGs.

Whatever happened to the "Konami is not gonna make AAA games anymore" thing?
I heard about that too but my thoughts went out the window when I saw this http://www.polygon.com/2015/10/20/9573213/konami-says-hideo-kojima-is-still-an-employee-just-on-vacation so think there still doing AAA games just focusing more on phone games…. I think until Konami does something stupid again.

The Vita is a decent piece of hardware, buts its also a dead system. It has no first party games coming and everything else is just a port.
That said, if you really want Persona 4 golden and Gravity Flux, its got at least a couple decent pieces in the library. Check the list of games that already exist, because that's what its going to have. (And I can't imagine a musou game being any good on the tiny screen.)
-
Also maybe look into the PSTV which can play certain Vita games(including P4:Golden) and generally costs $50.
-
GOG is having a big fall sale. A lot of really good stuff is hugely discounted (such as The Longest Journey being $2 because I can't stop talking about that game).

Vita is great for P4G and for the indie games. Last title I played a lot on it was rogue legacy.
Hardware wise it's the best system. If I had the choice every time between my 3ds and my Vita I would play on the Vita.
Just feels better to me + the OLED screen is pretty.Beyond indie stuff it's really good if you can read Japanese or at least are into Japanese games(it seems like quite a few of the good ones are making it over). There's a plethora of games that I'm still planning to get to (At some point I want to play the Ao no Kiseki vita remakes).
Maybe it helps if I write down my whole library:
- Persona 4 Golden (Must have)
- Dangan Ronpa 1 + 2
- Zero Escape: Virtues Last Reward (Must have)
- Tearaway
- Golden Abyss (was in PS+ was probably the only Vita game I own that I was lukewarm on despite it being good)
- Gravity Rush (Surprisingly addictive but not that easy to get into, moving is wonky and you have to get a feel for it first)
- Little Kings Story (I surprisingly enjoyed this one a lot more than I thought I would, was in ps +)
- Shovel Knight (I have this one on gog as well but the game is just perfect for the Vita)
- Rogue Legacy (same as shovel knight)
- Rayman Origins (Enjoyed it enough to Platinum it)
- Child of Light (It's good)
Things I want to get to:
Tales of Hearts R or maybe Innocence R
Kiseki Series(which has 4 games I haven't played) in the west known/"unknown :P" as "Trails Series" <- West is getting the two Sen no Kiseki(Trails of Steel) soon
Disgaea 4That said I think the 3ds overall might have stronger titles(still the title library on both systems for me is pretty even) despite it all with franchises like the DQ games, monster hunter(despite not playing it myself), Fire Emblem, Pokemon etc… on it.
My 3ds lib in comparison:
- Bravely Default 1 + 2
- Fire Emblem Awakening + Nohr + Hoshido + Invisible Kingdom
- SMT IV
- Legend of Legacy
- DQ 8
- Pokemon Y
At one point I owned the Icarus game but it wasn't for me or at least not for my mood back then. I also am not in love with Pokemon anymore despite trying really hard. There's too much old bullshit for me to deal with in those games.
Probably going to check out DQ 7 but beyond that nothing really. Looking at it 3ds has a lot of insanely good comfort titles but I don't think any game there surprised me in the sense of "oh this is something crazy".
My 2 cents as an owner of both systems(damn I'm actually a mobile gamer :P my only PS4 title is Bloodborne lmao)
-
The Vita is a Godsend for indie games. The amount of time I've spent replaying Hotline Miami 1 & 2 on that thing is insane. I would say that if you are going to spend a lot of time playing games on the move or whilst taking a shit then the Vita is worth it but if you're just interested in some vita exclusive titles you should invest in the Vita TV and get the games for that and wait for some of the big vita games to be ported to PS4 like Tearaway was and Gravity rush will be

Thanks Robby maybe I'll hold out this holiday season too see if its at a reasonable price, I'd mostly be playing fighters since that's what I love but I was thinking Kaizoku Musou but as you said the screen is pretty small… Also the mix with the ps4 is a bonus so that was another reason I was thinking of getting it.

(damn I'm actually a mobile gamer :P my only PS4 title is Bloodborne lmao)LOL that's the only PS4 title ? You have to get MGSV also that game is really good, by any chance did you get to try the feature of using the Vita with the ps4 as a controller ?This is also a reason I'd like to get my hands on it.

I was thinking about the PStv also but it's like a non mobile Vita right ? So I'd be in front of my Tv playing video games like my ps4.. is there any other features the PsTv has ? The Vita is a powerhouse as well I'm sure I could run some emulators on it and turn it into other platforms as well.

SNK Playmore is apparently making a return to video games
-
I wouldn't trust SNK to make a decent game on any platform, these days. Or at least anything original. Their ports are pretty meh.
and porting most of their titles will automatically fail on mobile due to that platform not being able to support it.
Maybe SNK vs Capcom, hrmmmm.

Indivisible will be adding playable guest characters from different video games they are

Managed to pick up these 3 titles (the deal goes on from nov 8th-14th)

not a bad deal for the american members here, the only thing is that the free game will have to be priced at the same as the lowest priced game you buy.

http://www.sourcegaming.info/2015/11…3rd-all-stars/
So, we are doing a thing and i want to get as many votes as possible. I already posted this in the Super Smash Bros thread but got told it would be better off here. There is a poll in the article for voting for 3rd-party 'all-stars'. This is not who would be good in Super Smash Bros or anything although we chose to exclude any character in Smash and all Nintendo characters because it was originally inspired by smash. So let me know what you think.

I knew it was a good idea to check cheapassgamer leading up to Black Friday. Here's some great deals if you don't mind used games.
-
Got my Falco amiibo today.

God damn it Indivisible! I don't have money! Don't make pick between my fanboyism and food ;_; -
Awesome to have Shantae to guest star in Indivisible

Autumn’s Steam Sale will begin on November 25th 10AM PST, and it’ll come to an end on December 1st, also at 10am PST. The Holiday sale will come hot on its heels, starting on December 22nd at 10 am and ending on January 4th at 10am.
Apparently they aren't doing flash sales this time, just sales for the whole week. In theory this will allow better overall discounts or easier accounting… or may have something to do with their newly implemented return policy.
-
- Grim Fandango
- Elite: Dangerous
- King of Dragon Pass
- All the Total War: Shogun 2 DLC I'm missing
- Europa Universalis IV Music Packs I'm missing
Anyway that's all the money I'm imparting to Valve this November, probably won't get anything in the holiday sale unless the gimmick is good (spoiler: it won't be).
-
I see a lot of stuff on sale that I'd like to have, but I'll probably only pick up Skyrim: Legendary Edition.
-
I'll probably be picking up at least one, if not all the YS games, KOTOR 1 and 2, Beat Hazard, and La-Mulana and Super Meat Boy.
Maybe Scribblenauts Unlimited, Hexcells, Evoland, Neo Aquarium.
I already have such a heavy backlog (especially of RPGs) and I'm getting a PS4 soon, its hard to justify much but… I've wanted the YS games for a while.
Transitor is really good for anyone that doesn't have it yet. Axiom Verge and Freedom Planet are good games but not insane deals.

Excellent series of games if I say so myself. I've played all of them that are currently available in the states and while nothing special in the story department, they have solid game play and great music. I'd suggest playing I & II chronicles first. I say this because the system is much more different compared to the others in which you ram into the enemies, unlike the rest that you can use an actual attack button. I played Origins and got used to the being able to jump and slash so going to the first two with limitations was a bit hard after that.
A few games do stand out, but I already have so many games I feel like I shouldn't by anything. The one thing that surprised me was that the Clannad VN is now on Steam. I loved the anime and I've been wanting to try getting into the VN scene, so I feel like it would be a good start. $42 seems like a steep price though, so I feel like perhaps I should wait until a better sale comes some other time. The only other one I'm tempted to get is Darkest Dungeon, because I heard great things about it and it should be leaving early access soon.
-
Huge Black Friday sale at Square-Enix: https://store.na.square-enix.com/black-friday/all
-
Darkest dungeon and ori still won't go under 10. I can wait.
-
Ori is great but its actually really graphics intensive. It runs like shit even on my new laptop. It's not a high-end new laptop, but its still one made this year, you'd think it'd be able to handle a 2-D platformer… but nope. It has 20 layers of backgrounds and tons of effects all of which slog it down like crazy. Shame, cause I'd buy it in an instant otherwise.
-
Okay, it's Christmas list time. Somebody recommend some games for me to consider putting on it, because the only games I've played for the past like . . . . . . year, are Dragon Age: Inquisition and Bravely Default.
I have a PS4 and a 3DS (also a PS3, but let's stick to the former two). I don't play any FPS or Sports games. Right now the only game I'm thinking of putting on it is Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Anybody else have suggestions?

Given the stuff you like, my first instinct would be to recommend a Wii U with Xenoblade Chronicles X, which would probably appeal to you. Also given the FExSMT game coming up which you might also like since from what I remember you enjoyed Awakening.
Otherwise no idea. Bunch of RPGey stuff coming to 3DS in the spring, like the next Fire Emblem(s) and all that random squeenix stuff like some dragon quests and some final fantasy explorers game (?) … I would say right now the 3DS well feels pretty dry.
