I downloaded the server testing beta a couple weeks ago, as I'm a big Brandon Sanderson fan.
I think its a game thats up my alley in terms of character variety, strategy, and gameplay, but I don't like how the painting is handled.

@Robby let me know how it is, especially the story, world building and characters since that’s probably what Sanderson worked most on
Unforutnately, I was busy with work and didn't really get to play it during the demo period, and that trial has now passed.
I'm probably going to actually buy it at some point but I have such a backlog and I'm not too keen on PvP. it DOES have a PvE roguelike mode though apparently and that may be more my thing..
I asked this in the movie thread but I guess I’ll ask it here to, is anyone looking forward to the new Borderlands movie? Or do you just have negative opinions on all video game movies?
…….What Borderlands movie?
@Time-Control-Magician all I know is that it exists and is supposed to come out this year, and that Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Cate Blanchett are in it
Oh yea now I remember. Guess they’re still going for it then

Big oof. It seems the reason why they changed Bayonetta's va was because they offered her only 4k for the entire game.
"Sad and deplorable about the attitude of untruth. That's what all I can tell now.
By the way, BEWARE OF MY RULES."
Hideki Kamiya
The reply is so funny to me, especially the last line.
I thought Kamiya was cool.
@KageKageKing Then you may enjoy this:
I have a really hard time believing big-time voice actor Jennifer Hale would replace her for an “insulting” amount of money. Most likely we don’t know the whole story, and that callout tweet is super rude and unprofessional on multiple levels.
Either way someone’s reputation is going to shit once the dust settles.
Speaking of Bayonetta it seems there giving her her own Nero (Devil May Cry) or Raiden (Metal Gear Solid) or so it would seem, Viola

Likewise, isn't a $4k payment rude and unprofessional? Genuinely not trying to sound snarky here. I don't blame her for trying to shed light on VAs being taken advantage of. I'm not inclined to give the benefit of the doubt to a large game studio that could easily afford to pay the talent their worth and chose not to.
A lot of speculation I'm seeing is that she was offered a low amount purposefully so she would decline, and they could go forward with another voice actor (for something more than $4k, I'm sure). Not to excuse to lack of ethics, but that seems to explain the reasoning behind it.

I guess it was unprofessional of her, and the entire act burned a lot of other bridges as well, but I assume it's not about being professional or not at this point. She's so disgruntled with the industry that she doesn't see herself in it anymore anyway?
So at least she got it off her chest, which I can sympathize with. Few people will actually boycott anything (no matter what it is), the industry also won't change because of her, but they're also not getting away with the usual PR bullshit either to calm those who do have an issue with VA changes.
All I’m saying is we’ve only heard one side and it doesn’t exactly add up. Even if she’s telling the truth, she lost all my sympathy when she started going on about how she is the only true Bayonetta and nobody can replace her.

Yeah claiming she's the one true Bayonetta was a bit odd (but I can see it), but I still don't see how that suddenly discredits her from any sympathy in this situation.
Especially when it's one person vs. a giant company, saying "let's wait until we hear from the giant on the matter" is harsh if that's a prerequisite for you to believe them.
Nintendo/Platinum are unlikely to say anything about this, anyway. Whatever the case, I won't be buying the game in an official capacity, probably just buy it used somewhere off a local market (not Gamestop. Never Gamestop).

It's hard to feel sympathetic toward someone who is making selfish/arrogant claims, demanding boycotts at the last minute, and who doesn't necessarily sound genuine.
There's this article that came out recently which paints a very different picture:
It's by Jason Schreier, whom I consider to be a general asshole and absolutely not the "true journalist" his inflated ego believes he is, but oh well.
Regardless of the claims' validity, games are about way more than the VAs, and there's no way I'm going to withhold my support for a unique product from an overall great company with lots of hard-working employees that I would like to encourage. There definitely IS a conversation to be had about voice work (and localization in general) being an underappreciated and underpaid industry, especially in the U.S., but I don't think this here is the right battle. Ironically the one place I don't think VA work is lacking in respect or pay is Japan, and this is a Japanese dev with a Japanese publisher lol.
A Minecraft server I'm in has started a community pixel art area,
and I'm the second person so far to try building something.
I made use of the freedom of space and built a giant SH skull!
Who’s going to watch the video game awards tonight?
The full show of just clips of the acceptance species/winners?
What video games are you guys looking forward to this year?
@Shiebs Like A Dragon: Ishin, Fire Emblem: Engage and Starfield come to mind.
@Johnny-B-Decent good choices, I don’t get to play video games much anymore but I’m looking forward to RedFall, Final Fantasy XVI, and the new Zelda game
@Shiebs BOTW2, Isshin remake, and Engage (I picked that one up and it's great)
but my backlog is still huge haha
We should have a thread for all the soulslike games out there
And speaking of Soulslikes, has anyone played Wo Long Fallen Dynasty? Is it any good? I know a lot of people like Nioh 1 and 2
Which is made from the same developers
@Shiebs i bought judgement a few months ago and its collecting dust in my library. I'll get Ishin one day. I'm looking forward to Spider Man 2 and FF 16 and plan to get a ps5 this year.
....This is all just a daydream by the way, I'll never have enough time to play them.
But what I'm almost certain to put aside everything for and hop on is BoTW 2 considering BoTW legendary status.

I just bought Darkest Dungeon for 2 euros and 14 cents for the ps4. And holy shit, what a game. It stresses the f*ck out of me (as it does all the heroes in my "company") and I'm terrible at it even though I'm playing in Radiant difficulty (easy setting, basically), but it's one of those games where everytime I look at the clock I go "what? I've been playing for 3 hours straight? Impossible!". It's been quite some time since a game felt like this.

Oops
^ To be fair if Bethesda hadn’t spent years whoring out Skyrim and dropping Fallout 4 in the middle Elder Scrolls 6 would’ve dropped sooner.
OMG! I've been waiting six years for this and it's finally here.
In case anyone wanted to know what the different characters do in Redfall to help them pick which one they want
RedFall is getting really bad reviews, very strange for Arkane studios
The Sands Of Time remake has been sent back to the conceptual stage of development.
Jason Schierer where you at man?
Lot of PlayStation reveals
Game of the year award nominees are out
https://thegameawards.com/nominees/game-of-the-year
Very surprised Final Fantasy 16 didn’t get nominated
Maybe it would've been nominated if anyone even remembered that it was released.
Probably because the general consensus is that the game looked great but the actual gameplay falls off pretty hard very quickly.
@Nobodyman said in General Video Game Discussion:

Hi-Fi Rush, Fire Emblem Engage two games that came and went, God Of Rock (a game that I think I glanced by chance on the PS Store), Monster Hunter Now and Party Animals two games that I’ve never heard of got nominated.

It was nominated for best narrative along with score and music and best (vocal) performance, best rpg.
So it wasn’t a total snub.
GTA VI trailer is out!
I feel we're getting a bit of a monkey paw wish when this game has a female protagonist, but it seems to take place in Florida.
Really though it looks good.
I wonder if they’ll get a lot of complaints about the female protagonist
