Are you really gonna tell me that a person who has trained for 20 years with his fruit has the disadvantage over someone who has trained for only about a year, simply because he has two fruits? Akainu is no pushover, even if he was defeated by Blackbeard and co., chances are he'd lava-fist to death a few of Teach's crewmates or hurt them a lot before going down. It's part of his character being a strategist, which includes running away if necessary. He doesn't care too much what people will think of him.
Blackbeard is a sneaky guy that waited years to fulfill his plans (whatever they are), plus it's not the first time he avoided a battle that he had no interest in (Shanks during the war, for example).

I would think that, as an admiral, that Akainu uses some level of Haki. He was probably not as strong as WB but a haki infused fist would still do some damage to blackbeard.

You know, I can't imagine how the next few chapters will go. Well I can but my hang up is, will this pattern be continued? In the last few weeks we get the check up on the SHs and now we seem to be doing it again. Will the next one or two chapters do this or will we get something else? Cause while I want to see the SHs again, I can't imagine something so predictable happening as each SH sticking in one spot, finding a challenge, remembering their past, remembering Shabody, and stating how they want to be stronger. Eh, Oda will probably throw something in their to spice it up.
Then again, what's he going to do with Usopp and Zoro? They seem to already have a clear-cut challenge that'll get them stronger, so either something neat will come along to mix things up or they'll just get reduced page time. Same with Franky come to think of it. It's really Robin, Nami, and Brook that I'd wonder about (especially since Brook seems to be in a cage).
