Why the hate? It's not that bad.
actually yeah, it is. fujoshi homolust everywhere, people sweating like pigs in an oven after a single set, tennis balls so intelligent they could teach at westpoint, glowing with the love of tennis as the finale, bullshit super moves everywhere, one-note characters, etc etc.
It's laughably bad, and that's why I read it. Enjoyable in that sense, very. but as a series of quality? noooope. And the anime is even worse. Remember the dinosaurs? Tezuka doesn't, he could wipe them all out with his serve.

Exactly. That's the reason why I think PoT is not THAT bad. It's not a serious manga. Obviously the manga is 99% fanservice to the fangirls, that's why when I was reading it, I'm just laughing my way through, just like you.
And as for the anime, well I believe it took the joke to a whole new level. All the fillers were just for fanservice, no plot whatsoever.
I'm not sure if you've seen the pic I've made. Hopefully you did so that you can see what I really think of it. A second glance won't hurt, you know. I mean, we basically have the same reaction to the manga/anime. It's just that maybe I enjoyed the joke more than you guys did.
Your it's not bad….it's terrible =D
It's so bad, it's good. Haha. Well to each his own right?
I liked it…
Can we make ones for Western Animation, Video Game, Movies or Books ?
Prince of Tennis did not have the best plot, but at least the action is better done than some series.
Read: Prince of Tennis
Expected: Tennis, tournament, tennis, tennis and more tennis.
Received: Tennis + Street Fighter
Read: M.A.R
Expected: An lighthearted sword-and-sorcery adventure a la Slayers.
Got: A tournament with magic weapons and a few elements Anzai recycled from Flame of Recca. He still got pretty creative with everything, so I have to give him some credit, even though it didn't make up for the weak plot.

I loved MAR!! The plot was weak, but cause it was less then 200 chapters, and the art and action was fantastic,it made up for the weak plot. Not like Anzai forced the plot out and made things up just to lengthen it.
Read: Gantz
Expected: A deep manga about humans, a masterpiece
Got: The opposite A shallow, pretentious manga which was basically the manga version of those hate rant blogs by anti-social teenager you see over at live journal. So fucking disappointing
It proved to me that gracious sex, and violence does not make something 'mature'
I know this is the manga section, but I felt the need to do this one…

What I expected: A decent action series with good main charters and ok story.
What I got: Power up ass pulls, worst time skip ever, boring main cast, more intersting supporting cast, weak ass villians, and ok art.

Hmm, weird. It's just a pic of the main 4 of Hunter x Hunter. No biggie.
I would never expect something like One Piece from Togashi of all people.
Level E and the latter half of Yu Yu Hakusho made certain of that.
But it certainly ain't for the faint of heart, that's for sure.

When I first read HxH I had no idea it was by the person that did YYH or what it was even about. I just kept seeing the first volume cover which made me think it'd be like Monster Rancher/Pokemon battle manga lol. I was way off. But so many people here seeed to like it so I picked it up. And now I'm hooked. I hadn't watched YYH in years did it even have a manga or was it just anime?

Yeah, Yu Yu has a manga. Some people prefer it over the anime, though they both have their strong points: the manga features little side stories the anime doesn't, but the anime is fairly well animated for its time – and the Funimation Dub is hilarious.
Level E is a manga Togashi made in the 80's which preceded both of them, which actually was adapted into a short, outrageously funny anime last year. Supposedly he was heavily involved in the production process and a lot of the people who worked on it had also worked on the Greed Island portion of the previous Hunter X Hunter anime. Speculation started after this came out that Togashi would be restarting Hunter X Hunter, and lo and behold, after the editor and chief of JUMP tweeting going to meet with Togashi, here we have a renewed serialization, two volumes finally released, and the complete reboot of the Hunter X Hunter franchise.

I thought the exact same thing at first. In fact, the first time I attempted to read it and saw Gon throttling animals in the jungle, I thought it was going that direction. Flipping through all the various Ant Hybrids from the Ant Arc supported that idea… but boy, was I way off when I read the rest of the manga. Level E was sort of freaky, especially with that pet slug... thing that for a couple chapters was thought to be
! the true form of the main protagonist.

Kinda in the same boat as Cyclone Baroness. Never read Level E, and have had minimal exposure to the Yu Yu Hakusho manga (though I did see that part where Toguro flicks the top half of a guy's head off. Nasty). I did see a good portion of the Yu Yu Hakusho anime, up till the end of the Sensui arc, but that was when it aired on Toonami. At any rate, I didn't see anything too gruesome on it.
And to be honest, I did hear from various sources beforehand that Hunter x Hunter is/would get gory and dark, so I kind of expected it, but still. Damn.

Not really.
He should change What he watched with Naruto Shippuden/Naruto Return of the Comeback.
The early part of Naruto prior to that long break actually focused on Naruto and the side characters instead of Sasuke.

It's still accurate.
Even when Sasuke isn't on screen, he's been the narrative focus of the series (and Naruto's personal goal) since Part 1 ended.
I disagree.
The focus was on Naruto trying to gain the respect of the whole village.
Which he got out of nowhere completely off-screen.

indeed, people should really read part 1 again, it's nothing like part 2, the only thing is it makes you that much more upset when you read naruto now a days, but you can always make it seem better by reading Bleach first, everything's better after bleach
I disagree.
The focus was on Naruto trying to gain the respect of the whole village.
Thus the reason Silence said "Since Part 1 ended"
WHich is pretty much exactly the same as Renegad said originally, as he said it should have been labeled Naruto SHIPPUDEN (the anime's part II) rather than just Naruto. Granted no such distinction exists in the manga, but it was just a miscommunication
@Monkey:
Thus the reason Silence said "Since Part 1 ended"
What Aaron said.
Do you really think you have a strong point to make regarding Part One versus Part Two?
The golden part of Naruto where it was an actual good shonen was like 16 volumes long (the rest of Part 1 being either mediocre or just as awful and Sasuke centric as Part Two).
This is versus Part Two, which by now has covered around 32 volumes and counting. And to be frank that should have the last arc of Part One added on, that whole mess of Sasuke Chase bullshit that was the collapse of the series. So add on about eight volumes to make 40 volumes and counting vs 16 volumes.
There was a time long ago when you could talk like Naruto wasn't defined by Part Two, hell I remember it and was there (I was there when there wasn't EVEN a Part Two and Naruto was almost nothing but good stuff with a hopeful future). And it's 2012 now, and that's just so fucking long gone.
Sad fact is, yeah, you can define Naruto by Part Two. It is and will increasingly be, basically just this thinly velied Boys Love terrible boring action fart that had this pretty good short part at the start where maybe some kid was trying to overcome prejudice and be respected or something before he spent the rest of the series chasing his comely lover man.
Nevertheless you can't cancel out that good part. Give its early chapters credit since it deserved it.
^ He very clearly does do that dude
That's why I said it was inaccurate. :S
This is clearly that early…good part.
Its the cover of the first volume. Which is a pretty good way to just represent "Naruto" as a seris in a simple image.
