Well the demand is definitely there for a remake. So it might not be any time soon, but it will likely happen.
I'm not sure how I would feel about a 3rd gen remake. I have this general idea that I liked those games the least, due to the large amounts of water routes, but other than that I can't say what I disliked about it.

There is no set formula for naming the games. We had Gold/Silver/Crystal, then Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.

Usually the remakes come AFTER they're tenth anniversary, at that was late 2002 for Japan. So September 2012 (usualy release month for a PokeGame) I could see released. Hell, I could see Grey coming out this September in Japan. This time last year (a bit earlier) we were hearing word of B/W.
As far as the Pokemon games go, they are released pretty quickly after they're announced - 4/5 months. Unlike some games coughBrawlcough…
Only Gold/Silver/Crystal doesn't follow the apparent pattern (in that gen's case it seemed to be rare metals). Diamond/Pearl/Platinum were valuables. The version color usually is related to the legendary (exception being how Giratina relates to Platinum idk). Kyurem is grayish. B/W plus one other color logically seems to point toward a grayscale theme. So of course, we'll get Pokemon Chartreuse.

And the current DS and 3DS can no longer play the old Gameboy Advance games. The 3rd gen is now incompatible AND time has passed. Funny how that works out in tandem with the video game generations.
After playing some more matches, I realize that Whimsicott and Scrafty are two little persistent trolls. I was stalling on one match but the dude rage quit(it looked like he had the edge too). Then I encounter him AGAIN and proceeded to kick his ass by flawlessly predicting ALL of his moves and switch-outs. He rage quit after realizing I placed him in an impossible corner. Best rage quit ever.
There was another guy that sent out Magikarp for his final poke. I stalled with him for 30 turns just to laugh. He was a good sport as I orignally thought he'd rage-quit too. It remined me of this one match on PBR on where we were Surging each-other with Water Absorbs, using Recover, and maxing out stats pointlessly. Those are usually the best ones.
I think I'll play random wifi on Fridays more often.

And I love my Whimsicott. I've been training this one for awhile and he's still not lvl100, BUT he has a number of things going for him:
Leech seed
The ability Prankster
Hurricane (useful for the rain dance team)
Ridiculous speed
Not half bad special attack
Oh and he's shiny. Guess that always helps.

Prankster. Freaking Prankster.
It give non-damage moves priority 1 point. This means he can possibly strike before Quick Claw, Quick Attacks, Extremespeeds, Protect, Fake Outs, ect, ect. It's basically an excellent set up Pokemon. The most overused sets involve Leech Seed, Taunt, Encore, Tailwind, Substitute, and many many more. Speed isn't the only thing.
And oh…

I 've only caught a shiny Machoke before, and it had an Impish nature, which wasn't bad.

Other than the red Gyrados (obviously), I have a shiny Whimsicott, Toxicroak, Politoed, Pidgeot, Crobat, Salamence, Drapion, Carnevine, and Liepard.
Though in terms of actual usefulness in battle, Toxicroak, Whimsicott, and Drapion are the only ones truly useful. Crobat, Salamence, Liepard, Pidgeot, and Carnevine are sort of useable though.

The Pokerus thing doesn't impress me though. I got it out of the blue in one of my files of Sapphire and I've managed to save it and spread it to this day.

I got a Shiny Duosion on my team. Seemed to bump into it with great astonishment as a Solosis. It had teal encasing instead of the usual green.

I've only ever caught 1 shiney which was a brown poochyena on Emerald.
Why is the anime still going? Its already served its purpose and anyone thats ever going to get into the games have already got into them and they can show their younger siblings the new games to get them into it to. It just seems like the anime is worthless at this point.

The anime actually became better with years, the writers have been improving their writing with the passing of years, for example I haven't follow every single episode of a series since I was a kid and Johto was on TV, now I have been following Best Wishes subbed in every single episode, the series is actually fun, Satoshi is catching more then usual, rotatiting pokemons, the plos is better with less fillers, it is actually good.
The anime is still kind of comercial in the sense that the cute pokemons will eventually end up in the group or if a game from an older generation comes out the trainers will eventually catch a pokemon from that old region, like Hikari got a Cyndaquil last region, or Haruka got an Eevee , Squirtle and Bulbasaur in Hoenn.
So is it a cash cow? yes it still gives nintendo shitloads of money but the main cash cow is the games not the anime, even though kids in japan probably buy every toy of every single pokemon that belongs to the group.

I'm pretty sure the movies rake in a crap load of money too. I've not watched much of best wishes yet, but i was surprised to see him having caught like 7 pokemon now. Hopefully he'll get a few more cool pokes.
Also, i'm training that dark/dragon hydra…i swear to God that thing has almost bankrupted me in regards to how many revives and potions i've used to level it up. It better fucking be worth all that hassle.

Hydreigon is one of the strongest non legendaries in the game. I raised one. And I wanted to love it real badly.
But at the end of the day I just felt like I'd only raised it just to get a powerhouse, and so now it sits in the box, unloved. Same thing happened to Haxorus. they're both really cool looking, but they arrived sooo late in the game I just couldn't come to care. I ended up loving the single evolution, can't fly, SLOW Druddigon instead. Whose lot in life is it be hit, take abuse, and give residual damage from pretending to be Sharpedo. I put a Rocky Helmet on him and thats been pretty fun. I named him Waspinator.
Quite a few things I wanted to love but they showed up soooo late it just didn't feel right. Especially sad with all the electrics in this game that I love the look of… but I'm now raising my second Emolga instead of them. This one has hidden power ice!
Personally I loved my Hydreigon and Volcorona mostly because I could raise them for the post-game. Admittedly I held on to Tepig/Lillipup way too long (trust me, the final battle with Ghetesis didn't help with my Tepig still a Tepig though with the most powerful moves) and switched them for Deino/Larvesta once I got them in my post-game. Both became major assets, particularly Hydreigon once I finally got it. (the only problem I had with it was the SA I had for it stunk, but I think it wasn't as bad to train as turning a Vanillite into my Dragon killer)
