I have this horrible horrible feeling Griffith is going to show up and "save the day" I really hope I'm dead wrong.
In this scenario, does he have any goal that is not raise his reputation? I mean, how much credit does he needs?

I believe Daiba will show his assistance to Ricket and co. in the next couple of chapters.

he would show up save the day to further persuade Rickert. And then let him leave so it sticks in his mind even after meeting up with guts again. Cause he's an evil little shit like that.
Chapter 340 English scanlation.
What did Erica though was gonna happen?
What was she even trying to do?
16 chars of Leeroy Jenkins?
Being an idiot little kid.
Which is pretty normal.
She just tought that what happened to the horse seemed like such a fun thing, that she wanted to try it herself.
Sadly she won't be putting out any fires with that weight.
I'm hoping that Erika dies a very horrible and painful death.I really hate the "Retarded kid runing into a fight for no reason" trope.
Also did anyone notice that Art was a bit worse or a bit blurry?Maybe scanlation wasnt done right or do you think that going monthly reduced the quality of the art?
Okay so I recently been reading the whole of this series, just in time for chapter 340. Funnily enough, when I caught up to HxH, it was also at chapter 340. I've been meaning to write about my thoughts on this series. I'm really liking this series, the end of the Millenium Falcon arc was amazing, all those doublespreads with giant Ganishka really gave a sense of scale, putting across exactly how huge he was. I'm really looking forward to next month (that is, this month). I can't believe I just found out his name was Silat this whole time is he actually Malay or something
[hide]I was going okay in the beginning mostly wondering why Puck has no clothes but then I thought it was pretty good in the beginning of the Golden Age Arc, I was spoiled on the ending but that didn't make it any less horrifying and also heartbreaking which I didn't expect which was "nice" going back to the present time with Puck again was nice, the fake fairies was okay, though the playing war bit was incredibly disturbing ("adult attack") I don't know what was going through his head but it was nice to see Guts monster hunt as a re-adjustment to the present The Conviction arc was when I started to lose momentum, not that I read everyhting at one go, but I had to push myself to go back and read at that point as the finale with Mozgus was kinda lackluster but the Millenium Falcon arc was much better, I like Schierke and everyone else who tagged along with Guts and I really mean every single one of them Griffith returning and becoming a messiah was strange but interesting to watch. The finale was really great as I said The island with the girl becoming a mermaid was a bit cliched, but I like Guts going right into the mouth of the sea king and stabbing it right in the heart (couldn't you cut all the arteries on the floor instead?)
TL;DR I liked the ride. I'm just gonna wait and see what's coming next. I would have wanted to see more of Falconia, but I guess they're leaving right now.
I might be weird on this one, but my favourite part of Berserk is when it's going full comic relief. Berserk is known for all the blood and gore and darkness, but I guess I got tired of that after a while. I really like to see the character goofing off in contrast to everything else. Puck is great and so is Isidro and Schierke and Ivalera. The gags are kinda cliched, but they just work here. I guess all the horror in Berserk serves to highlight all the happy and funny moments. The only thing I'm not on board with in Berserk is some of the monster designs, especially the metal guy in the new Band of the Hawk/Falcon, he looks ridiculous. I know Miura is clearly enjoying designing all of these people but seriously that sharpshooter hunter guy's apostle form looks like some furry stuff going on here.
The art is also great. It's got consistently great lines and complicated use of screentone which I imagine is a pain to apply traditionally. Taking a peak at chapter 1, it's hilarious how much Miura has improved since then. A little bit of research and practice really goes a long way. Berserk is very easy to display to other people, because Miura is a real showoff. There's so many doublespreads that begged to be stared at, it increbily easy to pick one a show it to someone else and say "Berserk's art it really good". The colours are nice too.[/hide]

[hide]I like the comic relief too, but I've noticed that several people take issue with it.
Sometimes to the point of accusing Berserk of becoming a shounen, as ridiculous as that sounds.
Personally, I welcome whatever light heartedness we can get in a world that's otherwise full of horrors.[/hide]

YES. I have a whole subfolder in my anime/manga art folders dedicated to the spreads of berserk.
Such gorgeous artwork.[/hide]
started reading, up to vol. 2
how much of the art is done by Kentaro Miura? Does he have any assistants? If so, how much of the work do they do?
He does most of the art himself, certainly in the early volumes its probably all him. Its consistent enough and his pace is such that people assume he does everything himself at one page a day, and common conceit is he works alone.
But if you look closer and check the credits you can tell that yes, he has assistants. But probably not that many, and probably mostly for background stuff filling out armies of soldiers and castles and stuff, and applying screentone. You can see it in the faces of background characters mostly.
thanks for the info
months ago I read that berserk was on and off for a while. Never constant chapters. What were the reasons?
He's in a bi-weekly magazine, but it takes him a month to do a chapter, so they would always wait till he had a stock pile of three or four chapters before printing, and then burn through his backlog faster than he could make new material. Naturally, this led to huge chunks of time where chapters wouldn't come out, even though Muira was clearly working constantly.
They now have him on a monthly schedule, like they should have done years ago, so hopefully there won't be any more major hiatuses.

Oh My God.
Miura you magnificent sonofabitch
! I'm so glad they Daiba got to jump in the fray! Was waiting for this to happen. Now, do we move back to guts and co. or do we stay with rickert? My money's on the ladder, but we all know what our hearts desire.

I'm glad their messy situation got resolved quickly
I don't suppose the "new developments" hinted at could mean a return to Guts now that Rickert has made good his escape. But even if it stays with Rickert next month at least the setting is going to change. Also, I'm a little curious why Daiba suddenly flipped sides. I thought he saw the light and irrevocably part of Griffith's flock now. Seems to suggest that the Kushan loyalties are fickle all-around. Either way, the guy's full of surprises either way.
! That's twice we've seen Griffith's underlings survive a fight after entering their Apostle form, a welcome change from the usual "bad guys always die after going all-out" pattern we usually get in action manga.
I figure we'll finally cut back to Guts and crew, go and solve some problem on elf island, restore Caska, and then while they recoup in peace we timeskip a few years.
Between Rickerts an the two children in Guts' party, I figure it'd be good to grow them up some before the final war thing starts…. and let Guts have SOME good in his life before it all goes to hell again.
How long have Guts and co. been on the boat again?
It's best not to know.
I dare not get my hopes up that he'll get to the island by the end of the year.
How long have Guts and co. been on the boat again?
About nine years since they left Vritannis.
I hope you are right Robby, I really do.
@Mr.:

If you mean this year then the chances of that happening is like 0.0000000001 in a million.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I really hope to at least see Guts in the next chapter.
Slowly catching up - up to volume 31 atm
have the author's comments (in volumes) been translated? Are they on the wiki? Can't be looking up things because of spoilers

Oh god oh god oh god.
! "This is the wrong island.
! Everyone back on the boat!"
!
! It's been fun watching the stickied 4chan thread go nuts over this.
"THEY GOT OFF THE BOAT!"
"Goodbye to the memes!"
"Wrong island, get back on the boat! We One Piece now!"
Is this what my great-great grandfather felt when he got off the boat?
I missed all the waiting.
This is a historic event.
Is it abnormal for me to despise the main cast? I hate everyone besides Guts & Griffth. I hate Puck, Isidro & Farnese the most.

Yes it is…very very abnormal. This might not be series for you if you despise Guts new party.

You can hate the cast, but enjoy the story. There's very little to like about these characters from my point of view. Guts drives the story when they're around so I tolerate them except when they're obnoxiously annoying. They haven't even been in the series since the story cut away from them.
