Kaku happened to really like giraffes and was rather pleased with the fruit he got, despite everyone else mocking him for it. So thats a point towards your theory, and its an interesting one, but…

The previous "know exactly in advance what a fruit will do" catalouging makes it pretty much impossible. Shank's crew knew what the rubber fruit would do. Brooke's crew knew his resurection fruit, despite obviously having no way to test it. (That seems like a fruit that would need a couple users beforehand to know it that acuratley.) And Blackbeard's desperate desire to get that one specific fruit seems to imply its ad consistent results in the past. I always assumed the alabasta fruits were just kept in the kingdom and given to the chosen guards as a hand-me-down.

Users adapt to the fruit and that influences their personality over time I would think, as pposed to the other way around. (Bellamy especially had an incredibly conceited attitude JUST because he had a devil fruit that made him instantly better than anyone else, which at that point in the grand line was still incredibly rare. )

If there was any chance of the fruit varying depending on the user, that would have been noted by now... and thus defeat the point of having a catalog.

As far as logias being contained, I think Buggy proves its theoretically possible. Buggy had his entire torso trapped in a box and seperated from himself for a long period of time, and reassembled as just his limbs. Logia break into much smaller pieces, but if you could find something to actually contain them, it seems like it would be doable, but difficult.

I've always thought that which person got which fruit was guided by fate, which is a big deal within the story. I actually never even questioned it since I thought it was sort of obvious (Blackbeard's speech helped a lot). Not only does everyone's character match their fruit, but also in Blackbeard's case, for example, he had to do something dark and sinister in order to obtain the darkness fruit.

I suppose it's also possible that Oda does it just to be cute, but I tend to believe there's more to it when he's involved.

Buggy's a complicated story that hasn't even played out halfway yet I don't believe. He was almost certainly fated to eat it, since he was trying not to eat it. To what purpose exactly, we probably don't know yet.

Maybe only a splitman is capable of getting Captain John's treasure or something.

I don't think you understand… I'm only saying that fate plays a huge factor in who ends up with which fruit. I'm not trying to make that more specific by saying that everyone had to do a particular something in order to eat their fruit and have it get all complicated. That was more of something added on top than the point in general.

Having said that. Luffy's gluttonous ways are what gives him power with that fruit, so it does work with him.

fate huh... It does certainly play a role, not just DF powers but with character meetings as well.

I like the idea that fate is a factor in which devil fruit a person has. The way BB got his certainly fits with that, and so does Ace's, I mean, he got his logia early enough on his journey to incorporate it into his jolly roger, it has to have been fate.

Kizaru doesn't exactly match his fruit though…

Oda matches the df's to their eaters on purpose, it's more of a symbolic thing than an actual plot point I'd think.

Now what I'd think would be kinda cool to learn from Vegapunk would have to do with Jyabura and Blueno's talk about an actual demon inside each df that enters the user once a df is eaten. It'd be cool if we learned that the more hax/broken/strong a fruit is, the stronger the demon inside it is. So if a weak person ate a powerful df they would succumb to the demon inside and would die, this would get rid of that feeling that some have that characters with logias are only at the top due to their fruit because if they could eat it and live, then they were powerful to begin with.

It occurred to me now that we never found out what happened to the Oro Jackson, which strikes me as auspicious considering that a big deal was made out of it. I wonder if there's a chance that Rayleigh is still in possession of it.

I'm now envisioning Rayleigh showing up in the Marineford bay at the helm of the Oro Jackson.

I thought about that too. I'm guessing the Oro Jackson got too beat up and couldn't sail out of Raftel, so it's hidden with all kinds of everything including One Piece. Technicaly it would be the only ship to have made it to the end of the grand line right? Or did Franky say it made it all the way around?

about the oro jackson, i believe before they disbanded, the roger crew already gave it a viking funeral.. because after they disbanded, the WG will definitely find anything and anyone related to roger..

question: has anyone ever ask oda in SBS if a df has an effect on a giant who ate it?

i wanna see oars jr eat WB's df after and if WB dies! just imagine the power! LOL Oars jr doesnt need a logia df if he has WB's fruit!

but Oda can avoid lt like the water df issue by answering that a df is so small that its size is already negligible to a giant so it will have no effects (including the cant swim part) on the giant.. that is of course unless vegapunk does something with it before the giant eats it.. im asking the natural way of consuming a fruit..

Actually it sounded more to me like since he was being jeered at, he was trying to justify the situation.

Considering up until that point he hadn't mentioned liking giraffes at all, and if anything, had a monkey theme going, I'm inclined to agree. (also one of the series great WTF moments when a giraffe comes bursting out of that wall) I was just tossing in that one for the sake of someone else's argument.

I had always just assumed that the Doku Doku no Mi had the side effect of giving Magellan an insatiable appetite (taste) for toxins and poisons, so much so that he would happily spend half his life on the John in exchange for tainted food.

I mostly agree with you but to the sertain point.Rather than fruit being just the key to the lottery of Devil Powers and giving person power judging from their soul I'd quote Teach-"Ace,the power chose me." I think that the fruit itself has fixed power,but it attracts itself to the person it's best suited for.So basically,Thatch was destined to be killed.That was the way of darkest of powers.And there is a nice idea you wrote-the power differs from person to person.I agree mostly,but I would say that aspects,not whole ability,would differ.If Whitebeard got Hie Hie no mi he would not use and even be able to use the same spells(that a nice name) as Aokiji.Superbeard would have got different aspects because of his soul.But Gura Gura no mi chose itself for Epicbeard(not literally chose.Rather felt the exact right aura of a man he was best suited for). Just thought about more appropriate example-when Moria dies and someone other get's his power he,because of his character,would use it differently and the fruit,judging from person's inner qualities, would change itself to suit him best.And user will create his unique moves to use it while partly it will be because power somehow….well gave him ideas.

http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/528/07/ would seem to suggest it's the first option. You can cross-check the RAW if you want I suppose, but I'm pretty sure he suggests that he loves to eat poison since he's a poisonman.

as most of the time we see "things" with DFs it is a zoan. so i thought what if a thing failed to get a Zoan and got a Paramecia or a Logia.
espesially if Enel/r/rus fruit regrows some time and it gets feed to a sword.

I agree that it's an interesting idea, although you say "most of the time" as if it's happened a lot. The only two I can recall is Lassou being a gun with the dog fruit: model dachshund, and Funkfreed being a sword with the elephant fruit.
