This is my favorite kind of Star Wars :D
Star Wars Universe - Resurrection F
-
-
Been enjoying Book of Boba Fett, but I feel like he's not getting as much focus because the series is doing some major Mando-verse heavy lifting. Still, great Star Wars though.
-
Loving the Mando sections. Loved the Bobba Fett sections.
But BOY has this not felt like the same show.
They honestly should have just aired this as Mandolorian season 3.
-
I've enjoyed it too, even before it became Mando season 3. But it does feel sort of like an afterthought at times.
-
Count me in as a fan of this episode, and maybe the whole series if I give it some time.
! What I really wanted was to see Fett kick ass, and by God, he truly did. He rode a goddamn Rancor. Killed (?) Cad Bane.
! Had a goofy 'let's-all-laugh-together' ending with his corny crew, what more can a fan want?
! I really liked how Cad Bane was almost disappointed how "soft" Boba had gotten. It's like they anticipated fandom's reaction.Remember, if we want a cold killer Boba, we have all those awesome Legends stories for that.
-
The finale was great. But the series lacked certain focus. Probably because the only Disney canon material they have for Fett is clone wars.
-
When will get info on Taika Waititi Star Wars movie?

I liked Star Wars The Force Awaken and it was awesome As if the world of Star Wars couldn't get any better, just when I thought the world of our Star Wars heroes was coming to an end we now get all that happens in the next generation starting here. The legacy of our beloved Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, General Han Solo and Princess Leia Organa has come to an end and now to think they have returned again to show their spunk, spirit, power, strength, skill, strategy, heart, determination and light one last time in the new generation of the Star Wars world, our beloved actors Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford all aged beautifully just as I knew they would and even the return of Kenny Baker as R2-D2 and Anthony Daniels as C-3P0 and Chewbacca is just as mind blowing and amazing as ever. I was even stunned and amazed by the return of the Millennium Falcon, my favorite starship in the entire galaxy. I was also most definitely impressed by the new members of the Star Wars family such as John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver and even Andy Serkis, they all provide such amazing and outstanding spunk, spirit and power to their characters. Out of all the newest characters I've seen in this masterpiece my favorite one is BB-8, now I have 2 favorite droids which is both R2-D2 and BB-8 and I just love both of them so very much. Poe Dameron is such an unbelievable pilot and one of the best I've ever seen, Finn is one of the most loyal and headstrong fighters I've ever seen, Rey is one of the most incredible, fierce, headstrong and spirited fighters I've ever laid my eyes on which means that after Luke Skywalker I had a feeling she would be the next big hero to save the day and the galaxy, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke is just as amazing and incredible as he was as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit trilogies and of course Kylo Ren is definitely another one of the most fiercely determined, headstrong, very spirited and outrageously impressive fighters I've ever seen, even if he fights for the Dark Side of the Force and he also is known by another name he still amazes and astounds me a lot. The fact that the next generation for the Skywalker family goes on with the grandchild of Darth Vader joining the Dark Side and trying to finish what he started is completely shocking and unbelievable, but I suppose it had to go on at some point. I thought I felt bad for Anakin Skywalker and what happened to him before, but this takes a completely different turn after I found out what happened to his grandson, poor Kylo Ren a.k.a Ben Solo. I didn't really mind that Mark Hamill only made an appearance in the end and didn't get any lines in this masterpiece, I know it was for a reason why and I guess they just wanted to wait until the next big release so that they could develop the new characters more and so they could contemplate on what really happened to Luke after all that happened in Return of the Jedi. If you're dying to know what happens next to our beloved Star Wars heroes and how the next chapter in their story goes than you've got to get your head in the game and see this masterpiece for yourself, if you like it than awesome don't stop there keep on going and if you don't than no worries you can't please everybody. So Grab Your Lightsaber, Climb Back On Board The Millennium Falcon, Hold On Tight and MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!!!! ALWAYS!!!!!️️️️️

So Andor has absolutely been killing it. Easily my favorite of Disney + Star Wars shows(Yes, better than Mando in my opinion).
And Tales of Jedi just dropped. It's runtime does leave it to over simplify some of the stories they're trying to tell. But I think it did a really good job of giving a snapshot into some key moments of Dooku's evolution into a Sith lord.
-
Haven't seen Andor yet, but it's on my watchlist. I wasn't exactly eager to check it out since it focuses on a character I don't think anyone wanted a backstory to (even less than Han Solo) and it's basically a prequel to a prequel. But if it's as good as I've heard, then...well, here's hoping.

It's the best Star Wars show nobody asked for haha!
So far it's done a really good job of fleshing out the real grit of the early rebellion, the consequences on everyday people as a result of rebelling against the Empire, and showing the day-to-day life of those working FOR the Empire.
-
Oh yeah, Andor fucks (the show. I'm pretty sure Andor the character fucks also).
-
I haven't watched it because it looks like it's Star Wars without the things that separates Star Wars from other sci-fi medium. Very few aliens, none of them being important. No Jedi or the force. No interesting locales or environments. I just don't know if I can care about Star Wars without any of the stuff that Lucas always made sure to include to make it feel like Star Wars imo. Am I wrong in the series being without this stuff?
-
Please watch it. I think it's easily the best thing to come out of the Disney era SW.
Real locations, practical effects (very cassette futurism-y), and oh shit the writing! For my money the best written character SW has ever seen.
It doesn't use 'The Volume' so that already makes locations better because they're real. You're really wrong on the enviroments part. They're gorgeous.
There's some fun aliens here and there!
But yeah, no jedis, no siths. That's also one of the reasons it's so good.
-
Andor is more gritty sci-fi than sci-fi/fantasy. It's understandable if some fans don't like it, but I'm loving it. I like having a variety of different types of SW media. If one doesn't work for you, you can always try something else.
-
I'm fine with no jedi, no sith. I like the force being prevalant because I feel like it's in the DNA of what makes Star Wars itself, but it doesn't have to be jedi sith. I love gritty sci-fi and sci-fantasy, I just don't understand why you'd want to tell a story in Star Wars without including the things that make it Star Wars. The aliens and the force are the series. Chewie, Yoda, Ewoks, Jar-Jar, for better or worse. For me, at least one of the major characters needs to be an alien for it to be worth me invest in, or I'd be better off just watching or reading some other human story.
Edit: For the sake of being productive, what makes it so good? Why is the writing so good? I'm wary about the settings. Seems to be boring grey/white nothingness. Is there more to it that doesn't show up in the trailers?
-

Well, duh.
I don't know what else to say other that what I've already said.
For my money, it's the best written, directed and acted SW show.No Ewoks though
-
I like the political intrigue. Stuff like Mon Mothma trying to secretly fund the rebellion without getting caught while others try to pull of missions knowing these characters could die because most aren't legacy characters.
Then there's the Empire. How they're slowly making things worse across the galaxy and their reaction to rebel activity keeps me interested. This isn't dumb bad guys Empire. We're following the more competent members of the organization and that makes them even more threatening.
-
It throughs me for such a loops how this series has taken common-sounding phrases like 'on program', 'one way out' and 'I can't swim' and made them so damned powerful through their repetition. It reminds me a lot of how Anno Hideaki uses visual repetition in Evangelion.
-
I'm two episodes into Andor and it's fine so far. Not amazing, but it has done a good job of establishing the plot and characters. I'm guessing things will pick up later, but for now it's kind of a slow burn.

Yeah, the first three episodes really didn't catch me but I was pretty hooked by #6 (or earlier, my memory isn't great).
-
These last two episodes have maybe been the best story telling I've ever seen in the Star Wars universe.
-
Sooo . . . this is a thing:
Yes, it's real. Yes, it's actually Studio Ghibli. Yes, it's coming out today.
-
I usually give up if a story takes too long to hook me, but Andor finally did in the 3rd episode. I like it more than the Obi series. Currently on ep 8. Unfortunate that Obi is the weakest link so far.
As much as I love Mandalorian, Visions is easily the best Disney+, Lucas series.
-
It's only 3 minutes, but if you have them watch Zen. It's simple and adorable only in the way Studio Ghibli can be. And maybe something you can appreciate only if you know Studio Ghibli.
-
Andor has been amazing. There's actually some really great acting and dialogue for once in Star Wars, haha.
Episode 9....wow. Andy Serkis and Stellan Skarsgard deserve...something. -
A little behind on all the star wars content but
Started watching the Obi-wan Kenobi series (2 eps in), and it's...a bit of a mixed bag so far. The first episode was super slow (even slower than tbobf started out). I just feel like this show got screwed over between it being a scrapped movie turned limited series, being made during COVID and it looking like it didn't get the budget it deserved. I don't think the writing (or possibly directing?) Has been as strong as it needed to be. It's so great to see Ewan McGregor back as obi wan though.
Also started Star Wars Rebels, in which the first few episode have been pretty solid so far.
And I've heard nothing but good things about Andor so I'm looking forward to it whenever I get around to watching that.
-
I know people in general had mixed feelings about Obi-Wan, but I really enjoyed it. It's not as good as Mandalorian or Andor, but I did not find it dull.
I absolutely loved Rebels. It only gets better and better. Most people seemed to think the first season was a bit too light but all the subtle character building pays off.
-
Finished the Kenobi series! Burned thru eps 3-5 in one night bc they were super short and followed up the next night with the finale. Overall I enjoyed it. There were definitely some issues tighter writing could have fixed here and there, but I was happy to have Ewan and Hayden back. Ngl the goodbye speech between Obi-wan and lil Leia made me a bit misty eyed. Haha. Good to see Qui-gon back too. Never change, Qui Gon. Lol.
Finished up Rebels season 1 as well. I really enjoyed it. It was cool to see some familiar faces, especially in the last handful of episodes. Vader! Gonna take an easy guess and assume Leia is Hera's secret contact. Favorites out of the group are Chopper, who has a most impressive kill count, and Ezra.
Ashoka! She just pops up everywhere, doesn't she? Tbh I've heard plenty about her but I'm only really familiar with her character thru the Mandalorian and the Clone Wars movie/pilot for the series (haven't watched the actual series yet though). So yeah, I'm not watching everything in order. -
Holy shit guys
If you love star wars. If you are interested in star wars in any way.
Please please WATCH ANDOR.
Andor is the greatest Star wars media I have ever consumed.
For the first time ever, I truly understand the rebellion, why the empire is evil. Also, the empire is depicted as a very competent force. I could, and will gush more about this show, but I'm on my phone right now, and typing is getting exhausting.
Please GO WATCH ANDOR!!!!!1
-
@kevo_koma Them blowing up a totally innocent planet in the original movie wasn't enough?
-
@Johnny-B-Decent its really hard to empathize with that kind of destruction. Like, I can feel the deaths of one or a dozen people, but an entire planet? I don't know, it just doesn't hit as much.
-
It's not as intimate as having a group of people you've grown attached to killed, but I think it's plenty easy to empathize. Just do some reading about the people of Hiroshima/Nagasaki and scale it up.
-
Got caught up with Andor in time to catch the finale yesterday. Yes, I enjoyed it, and I can see why a lot of people would love it, though I don't think I like it as much as a lot of other people.
-
@Nobodyman I think this is a perfect case of different strokes for different folks.
After watching the star wars sequels, which were mostly nostalgia bait with little to no storyand the other disney tv shows. It always felt that the people in charge of Star Wars were treating their audiences as absolute morons. The kenobi series being the most egregious example.
Andor on the other hand is a completely fresh story in the Star Wars mythos. A story about how rebellions work, how they are started and the normal, nameless and forgetable people that are involved in it.
Andor is not a show about a super rebel, who is the best pilot or whatever, going up against a faceless empire.
Its a story about normal people, slowly coming to the realization to how the empire is slowly and systematically choking our their freedom, cultures, religions and way of life.
Its a true human story and I love it for it.
Also, the empire is not depicted as a completely evil monolith, doing evil things. No we get to see the normal people who work for the empire. Just like any normal people, they are concerned with advancing their own goals and lives, they just happen to work for the empire. Its in my honest opinion an honest examination of how a fascist government would work.
Yes, Andor is not for children. Nor should it be. I mean, the people who loved star wars are pretty much all adults now, is it so bad to have a story that caters to those adults? rather than just being another billion dollar marketing campaign to sell toys to children and adults in arrested development?
-
I'm in the camp of Andor being top tier Star Wars media. It's hard to compare it to the original trilogy for various reasons, but it's the best filmed media they've made since. Of course, we need to see season 2, but season 1 on it's own is pretty awesome.
It may depend on what you want most out of SW...if your main interest is stuff related to The Force and Jedi, then this would probably be the most boring Star Wars ever. But personally my favorite stuff is everything to do with the underworld and the politics of the Empire. I am over the moon with the ISB stuff.
-
It's both Star Wars without the Star Wars and anti-American imperialism and anti-White Supremacist sugar coated with allegories, so Andor definitely exists in a funny little spot. I do enjoy seeing "kill Nazis" stated so unequivacably, though. I'd like to see more of this in big budget media.
I'm not sure what else is next for the franchise besides more of The Mandalorian but I definitely hope that we can eventually get an AU series. I would die to get an AU where Anakin decides not to side with Palpatine and instead sides with the rebels. Seeing the actors interact in such a series would be a lot of fun.
-
These Disney+ series will change the status quo. Fans expect a season 2 the following year. Andor S2 is not coming until 2024. It took over 10 months to film and around the same amount of time to come out due to post production.
Ahsoka is next after Mando S3, so there will be 3 next year including Skeleton Crew. I'm only interested in the latter because they said it's the Goonies set in the same time period of Mando.

I have nothing else to add but just that I agree wholeheartedly. It's up there with the OG trilogy for me. In many ways, it's better.

Ten months? That's actually nice to hear. For less than twelve hours that almost makes about a month to film a single episode, as opposed to the typical eight days. I have to imagine how much sharper the series could be if they gave a full month to filming an episode.
I recall The Lord of the Rings trilogy receiving 21 months to film for its 11+ hours of material, I think seeing a production on that scale more often would be really nice.
-
@JulieYBM Both series and films used to have way more time to be made.
I blame studios, but mostly fans are to blame. They want a series every year and are displeased when 4-7 months taken to make the project come up with mediocre content on average.
Realistically, it should take a year or more to create and a 2nd season drops 2 years later. I don't think fans want to take responsibility or allow creatives to take their time.
Instead, they around "budget", when it's more about giving someone time to animate, edit, do VFX, etc.
Look at the Marvel series for Disney+. Only 2 have gotten the greenlight for a second season so far. They have to allow fans to think some are a 1 off too.
Loki S2 on a regular show's timetable would have come out this year. Instead, it comes out next year as it should be.

I wouldn't blame fans for what is easily the choice of the billion dollar corporation. They're the ones refusing to properly produce their film and series.

@JulieYBM If the studio took 2 years or a mangaka decided to take 4 months off, would you be okay with waiting?
Oda has to take the Togashi break starting in December and will return every other year, will everyone patiently wait and be fine with it?
Even giving a weekly anime 1 week off results in insults.
It's on both the fan and studios, publishers, etc. Neither will ever acknowledge that truth.

Yes, I would be okay with waiting because I'm a grown woman and I also understand that making art is not easy and is a turmultuous process that causes physical and mental unwellness and I would not wish that on anyone simply because I want to see a work of art. Furthermore, I understand the physical and mental damage that working under capitalism causes to the body due to my years in the workforce and understand that commercial art also does similar to the mind and body.
-
@JulieYBM This is the ideal mindset, but the other side is louder.
Not just those who complain if more time is granted, but also fans moving on to other product if one takes too long.
So much content out there to keep one busy and real life, I would think it would be easier to wait the extended time.
-
yes yes corporations suck (even though they make all this cool shit) and boo capitalism yada yada but let's be honest here, it is also absolutely the fault of the fans. most audiences nowadays are fickle as shit.
-
Passing the buck to the unaccountable audiences is a convenient excuse to deny the changes to (or outright dismantling of) the corrupt system causing these workers harm.
-
No buck to pass. Both are in the wrong/should share blame and neither will acknowledge they are at fault enough to nurture any change. Just the continued practice of creatives exhausting themselves and taking on the blame if there is a break here and there.
