I think he was talking about the Aka Inu, Ao Kiji, Ki Zaru titels which I kinda doubt they would be passed down.

Yeah, I'm wondering if they work like Baroque Works codenames or simply like pirate nicknames. The three animals being the ones from Momotaro suggests it's more like predetermined codenames that each new admiral inherits, but the fact that so far the colors (vaguely) correspond to each admiral's power suggests that they're more like nicknames. Has this ever been touched on before in the series? I can't really remember.

Im still trying to figure out why Sengoku didnt have the warships fire at incoming ships. I mean seriously Sengoku's reason seems horrible to me.

How did Aces mother die?
In the last Chapter Sengokou said, that she died by giving birth to Ace.
But now we see her sitting on the Bed with the baby. garp standing next to her.
the next panel is blood on the sheets.
does that mean, that garp killed her?
that would be rather cruel.

I haven't read the whole thread. Since it is revealed that Whitebeard wants Ace to become the Pirate King, do you think it is the same with Shanks wanting it to be Luffy? When Shanks met Raleigh, he said that Roger's word resembles Luffy's words. He is probably waiting for Luffy to arrive at the New World and might probably the reason that he seems to be always having a party whenever we see him.

A child nearly knowing nothing about his father also knowing that because of what his did his mother died and was in constant pain for months will imo lead to such an reaction. And WB protected ace and offered him a lot that's different.

man kuma can really mess things up for the marines if he betrays them here and now. not only can he start bouncing several strong marines to different islands but he can also probably bounce ace to another island if he wants. not even the admirals would be able to do anything about it since he would appear next to ace in an instant and all he would have to do is touch him. i wonder if kuma will be making his move now that the war is about to start. he did say he wouldn't see luffy again and i think he meant it. he might of never planned to be in this war and was waiting for the right time to accomplish his goal. even if kuma bounced ace away the war isn't going to stop now.

That can be a betrayal forcing him to hide somewhere on an unknown island or…
Kuma probably never expected that luffy would sail to ID and now to the MHQ.

i don't think kuma is going to die anytime soon. he will probably be important to the story later on. everything he did with the strawhats seemed like it was planned. i don't think kuma planned this himself though. there is somebody behind the scenes pulling kumas strings and we will probably find out who it really is soon. i think it's dragon who told kuma to do everything he did. if dragon is planning to do something in this war kuma will probably be very key to his plans. if dragon decides to invade mariejoa kuma will teleport himself there in no time and probably cause massive damage. plus kuma has probably been to several key places in mariejoa like the building where the gorosei meet. lets say kuma teleports dragon and himself there and then dragon proceeds to kill the gorosei? kuma will enable them to do that. that or teleport an army to mariejoa. the only ones that can probably stop him are admiral class marines but they will be busy with whitebeard. it would make sense if dragon has people infiltrating the world government and who better than a shichibukai who the world government thinks is 100% loyal?

For Kuma to say that, while planning on dying at Marineford, suggests that he knew Luffy would come there. Why is Kuma omnipotent all of the sudden? The guy is powerful, but still mostly human. Yeah, he never expected Luffy to sail to MHQ is it.

Everyone's putting too much stock in that phrase. If you want a reason as to why he said it, it's because it was a cool way to end the chapter. The fact that Luffy survives and leaves the island tells you that he was bound to be wrong eventually.

Any chance that instead of BlackBeard is the final boss, but Ace will eventually have to fight Luffy at the end to determine who's gonna be the pirate king? u know brother against brother… Badass blood against Badass blood? that will kinda give both Ace and Luffy sometimes to develop their strength and eventually fight each other at the end?

i think ace is going to die. plot-wise it feels like it's going to happen, and luffy hasn't had to deal with loss at all. zoro, nami, franky, robin, and brooke have all had to go through loss of a close friend/family member. sanji almost starved to death with zeff. chopper…... MOVING ON

i think kuma is a benevolent character. he is pitted against the straw hats right now, but his entire character is of wisdom and predestination. he had the chance to kill the straw hats and he didn't.. instead he treated them as an adult would to some kids. i.e. "get out of here, shoo" without actually harming them. in the scene of the anime where

What about Luffy's near death experience of almost getting eaten by a sea king resulting to shanks loosing his arm? It was similar to Zeff losing his leg imo … :ermm:

But it is quite interesting if Oda chooses to go with that plot. Exposing the main character to a series of defeats leading him to search for strength and power.

Oh btw you cant use anime reference in this section of the forum. All ideas/theories/predictions/arguments/etc should be related to the manga series.

Don't know if this has been brought up before, but ….why has Garp not been penalised/victimised yet?

We know how the World Government operates, with its motto of Absolute Justice. We have seen an entire island wiped out to erase some historians. We have seen a Buster Call on one of WG's own establishment to erase, essentially, one person. We have seen WG eager to prosecute almost everyone connected to Roger.

Why then has the WG not taken any significant action against Garp?

1. Garp is the parent of the world's most wanted man - a revolutionary who has declared open war againt the government. One would expect WG intellegence unit to know the relation between Garp and Dragon. One would also expect WG to use Garp as leverage.

2. Besides his son being a most-wanted criminal, both of Garp's "grandsons" are exceptionally troublesome pirates. One guy being a division commander of a Yonkou, the other having declared war on the government.

3. The WG found out that Ace is Roger's son. This is a significantly tougher secret to trace than Ace's connection to Garp. Even though Garp did not raise Ace himself, we can assume that Garp visited Ace often (Ace seemed very familiar with Garp), and maybe even supervised Ace and Luffy's upbringing with Dadan. Why has the WG not penalised Garp for hiding the child of Roger, especially when the WG was desperately looking to erase Roger's bloodline?

4. Garp has a general casual attitude, and seems to openly appreciate Luffy's infamy.

We can, of course, speculate that Garp was indeed penalised and demoted to Vice Admiral, assuming Garp was an Admiral. Or, we can speculate that due to the above reasons, Garp never got promoted above VA rank. However, either of these "punishments" seem too trivial when looking at WG's track record.

Roger surrendered. No real claim for praise for anyone here. Of course WG can do a "Smoker" on Garp, and credit him with Roger's "arrest".

However, I don't see how that event 22 years ago, would still cement Garp's position so much that the WG will let pass opurtunities to bank on Garp's ties with one of the world's foremost criminals.

And hiding Ace's true identity seems to be a pretty big trespass in itself. Even though Tsuru might say that it was not Garp's sin in saving a child, the official WG stand was to eliminate all potential offspring and spouse of Roger.

And Garp being powerful still wouldn't stop WG if it wanted to arrest him.

The WG doesn't know that garp is the one who helped Ace to survive.
Garp is not directly related to roger. He is a hero of the marines. We need to know when dragon began to rebell against the WG.
Though i believe that garp was already a legend when dragon began to move. The problem is that if the marines/WG decide to blame garp and kill him a lot of marines will begin to rebell and cause trouble.

I don't know whether they know that Garp knew or not. They probably know that Garp is Ace's grandad (not by blood relation, but in general) so they may be sympathetic because of that (like Tsuru's comment). But then again, if they know he's his grandad they must've guessed that Ace's identity wasn't known for years, so there's a strong chance that Garp knew all along.

As for punishment, I guess they don't want to lose one of their most powerful marines, especially at a time like this. Garp and Sengoku seem to have a good relationship aswell. Garp also hasn't tried to save Ace, which shows his loyalty.

Well Sengoku did mention that if Garp wasn't a hero of the marines he would be executed. Perhaps in the past Garp was the public face of the marines to the world.

maybe making them suffer in ID forever is a more appropiate way for them to pay rather than take the easy way out and give the death penalty.
I think they only issue executions if it has some sort of 'world' impact (ie rogers death was to set an example but backfired)

not yet but i'm sure he is going to do something; even if it's just taking a sword for someone. I think it's time for some marine (like koby) to understand that the WG is not as clean as it seems.

I can understand it with your explanation for non-level 6 prisoners. But it would do the WG a service by get rid of all level 6 prisoners that are of no 'political' importance. Since level 6 prisoners were a threat to the WG. Still it would be way better to kill off all of the pirates with no 'political' importance, that be the way of absolute justice.
