Combining the last couple of posts, what if Luffy challenges Big Mom for a Davy Back fight to get back Sanji? :ninja:
This idea actually first appeared ~4 years ago when Luffy originally challenged BM. Though, at first the theory was that Luffy would want to get Jinbe and FI from her that way. It's gotten even more popular when Swirlyhats met BMP near Dressrosa - again, the assumption was Linlin would desire Sanji in her crew for his cooking skills. Unfortunately most of the fans would murder Oda if he were to pull this off.
-
Well, I'm sure quite a bit of this has already been said in the past, but here's what I'd like to see:
- Obviously, Luffy eventually makes it to Raftel with the crew, finds One Piece, becomes Pirate King, learns the truth of the void century and the Will of D. This one's a no-brainer.
- Also would love to see the Straw Hats (and allies) bring down the World Government and the World Nobles, with help from the Revolutionaries.
- The full Straw Heart roster (i.e. get Sanji back, get all new members like Jinbe and maybe someone else, include all of the Heart Pirates) take on an Emperor and crew (kind of like the giant alliance battles in Enies Lobby and Dressrosa).
- Luffy meets Dragon
- Meet and/or learn about Luffy's mom
- Luffy sees Shanks again
- Luffy and Sabo meet again
- The Straw Hats meet Vegapunk
- The Straw Hats see Kuma again
- Crocodile meets the Straw Hats in the New World
- CP-Aegis 0 (i.e. former CP-9 members) interacts with the Straw Hats
- Blackbeard/Teach and crew get their asses beat by Luffy and crew
- Akainu/Sakazuki gets his ass beat by somebody (maybe Luffy, maybe someone else)
- Gear Fifth (and possibly more after that)
- Luffy "Awakens" his Devil Fruit power and turns all of his surroundings into rubber, forming a GIANT RUBBER TRAMPOLINE! :ninja: (No, but seriously, "Awakening" would be awesome)
I'm guessing quite a few of these things actually will happen, and it'll be awesome when they finally do!

More Brook is always something I'd like to see. But in all honesty, I want to see the Chopper and Nami striving for their dreams. We see the rest of the crew constantly developing naturally simply because of the traveling and fighting, but I want to see more. When was the last time Nami drawing maps was mentioned? Or Chopper trying to make a miracle medicine expanded on? I would like to see their dreams being progressed instead of it just happening all of a sudden at the end of the story.
-
I want to see Brook awaken his fruit and bring his old crew from the underworld to sing with him.
-
I want to see Vegapunk. So badly.
-
I want the person Doflamingo is talking to after failing to kill Moriah to be Sanji's dad of the vinsmoke family he ordered Doflamingo to kill Moriah during the war he was not scared of Doflamingo he just did not want him leaving the warlords at the time he might be a member of cpzer0 as well.

more of whitebeards past

Moria's backstory. Just what happened in that fight against Kaidou?
Moria's triumphant return. KISHISHISHISHI
Moria to have Ace and Whitebeard's corpses alongside Oars Jr. for his new special zombie army. Bonus points if they're used against Luffy, Sabo or Marco.More Moria basically. Too underrated for my liking.
Non-Moria wise;
More Buggy pirate antics. Maybe recruit a few more known faces from the past for the dispatch company.Usopp to meet his father. Like desperately I want to see the exchange between the two more than I want to see Luffy meet up with Shanks again.
Robin to have a one on one fight with an important and memorable opponent. Seriously Robin. What gives?

Enel Returns with something like a Haki & Awakened State DF Power Boost
Enel is Beaten By Gear 4th Luffy in a intense battle and dies by a mistake he made in battle
Strawhats find a near by fruit that has his DF Power
they lock it up in the Ship
then later near the end, Nami Eats the Fruit as a choice to keep it safe from a enemy -
A wild west themed arc

I was thinking today, I would really like to see a Road Poneglyph used as a negotiating chip at some point - or at least have it acknowledged that this has happened. I'll explain:
If we see the road to Raftel as a race, or perhaps a game in general, then we can analyse the Road Poneglyphs as important cards in this game. Whoever controls these cards controls or dictates the flow of the game (at the risk of being focused down by the other players, of course). But with a system of power in which multiple people hold different cards, you find the sea in a Cold War-standoff (AKA the Yonkou in the contemporary era). So what I would love to see is a Yonkou using their RP as a negotiating chip, i.e. they promise another Yonkou (a copy of) their RP for an RP of theirs, or perhaps giving away control of one of their islands to them, or maybe a rare and powerful Devil Fruit.
This would highlight the dynamic the Yonkou have going to gain control of the seas (or the game) and could even lead to some interesting scenarios later on in the story.
-
Would you all hate me if I said FraBin in the epilogue?
-
I'd love to see Ussop with a Straw Hat jolly rodger tattooed on him. (Like Ace had for Whitebeard ) After he left and was accepted back he has been the most loyal imo.

I've read some saying that the exchange betweem Shanks and Kaido was quickly resolved by the exchange of a Road Poneglyph.

Some really, incredibly strong bounty hunter or even an underground bounty hunter organization or something. Unfortunately it just seems like bounty hunters are in the Blue Seas and not the Grand Line or the New World.

Lol that's literally Baroque Works

Yeah, I guess… That's still early on in the series and they're all low tier.

Jean ango is a token bounty hunter, so oda can forget about bounty hunters.
-

^This.
Unfortunately we're at a point in the story were all major players of the OP world have been introduced(if I'm remembering that one quote from Oda right) so the odds of bounty hunters of any real worth popping up are extremely low.
-
Bounty hunters just aren't among the strongest players in the world. Oda focuses on much more important things. Despite that, we did see quite a lot of them if you think about it: we had Yosaku and Johnny, although they obviously weren't enemies. Then on the first island of the Grand Line was a whole organisation filled with them, but it was tied in with something bigger. Then we went to the sky, so not much bounty hunting to see there. Water 7 had the Franky Family who engaged in bounty hunting, but on the whole that arc and Thriller Bark had bigger foci: government corruption and the ancient weapons, and then a Schichibukai on an isolated island. Shabondy had a lot of bounty hunters, but by that point the Straw Hats had become big players in the Grand Line so they weren't as threatening anymore. Nevertheless we had the fight with the Flying Fish Riders, and Peterman kidnapped Caimie. But, again, it had bigger stuff to deal with, like Kizaru and the Pacifista.
And in the New World we've seen Jean Ango, who was quite strong but just couldn't match up to Luffy or Chinjao. Seeing as how the former was ready to tangle with Doflamingo (albeit with Law's help), I don't see why people complain about him. Or, looking at the rest of my post, I don't see why people complain about bounty hunters in general. I feel like if you just look at what Oda really had to focus on, but how much he managed to show us of more obscured aspects like bounty hunting anyways, I'd say he's done an incredible job.

Vinsmokes might count as bounty hunters since they were called assassins or something i think.

They did not need to be high tier they were capturing people coming out of the 4 blue seas.

he more likely got kaido drunk like how he gave whitebeard booze lol.

then later near the end, Nami Eats the Fruit as a choice to keep it safe from a enemythat would have been like sanji eating ace's fruit it does give a power boost but he already has fire attacks just how nami can use lightning attacks without a df
it's better to gain something you did not have before from a df
-
I would like for Nami's weapon to evolve one more time by 'eating' a Devil's Fruit. Would be interesting IMO.

I think her weapons will get at least another upgrade before oda gives her weapon a devil fruit if he is going to.

So Usopp would have to create a chewing feature for the Clima-Tact right? That's one of the many processes I can't comprehend in One Piece, the ability to give a weapon or object a DF power.

Don't worry buddy, when Vegapunk turns up all will be made clear.

Its kind of sad that Vegapunk seems to exist specifically for explaining Shonen Science.

I imagine it like getting the juice of a DF and inject that into the object.

There are worse fates^^

Also for pissing off Caesar.

I want to see more of Kidd and his crew in general.. is that just me? XD I feel like we will see more of them, considering him and the whole Kaido situation, but still.
-
I would like to see another Davy Back Fight, the concept is still interesting. Maybe more serious this time.

I'd say he exists so that Oda can include cyborgs and lasers into a world of sailing ships, flintlocks and swordsmen.
-

I'm not sure if I'd like to see another one as such, but I wouldn't be averse to the concept being mentioned again. Personally I quite liked the theory that Oden switched to Roger's ship because of one, lol.
-

Its not happening. Oda used it as a narrative device to casually introduce the idea of the crew lineup being in jeopardy before the big storyline about the crew possibly falling apart.
Nothing about it has any actual use anymore.
1. Oda isn't seriously going to put crew membership on the line anymore, least of all through something like that.
2. He also isn't going to recruit the last crew member through something as silly as that. No matter how serious you make it, its awkward for that purpose. -

I never thought of it this way, I just thought that it was a nice little arc to show an aspect of his universe as a nice touch. I don't really see the added value of the DBF arc to the future trouble in the crew. It's not as if the fallout would have felt unnatural if the DBF hadn't been there.
-

Being "a nice little arc" is also part of the point.
Since Oda had heavy dramatic stuff planned with the Water7 events. Even the end of the DBF with Aokiji is really heavy, so the DBF itself is clearly supposed to be some nice light fun with a goofy unthreatening "villain". It's relief for the audience. But Oda also used it to start the themes of that whole storyline. Within two volumes Usopp and Robin (and Merry!) would have their places in the crew thrown in the air. It's no coincidence.
I don't really see the added value of the DBF arc to the future trouble in the crew.
It's the lite-intro to that entire storyline. It introduces the themes of the crew dealing with the very idea of losing crew members. Something that never came up before, …..and no before you say something about Nami? She didn't actually join the crew until after Arlong was defeated. She was in alliance with them.
It's not as if the fallout would have felt unnatural if the DBF hadn't been there.
It would have been clunkier storytelling without a nice subtle introduction.

No matter how serious you make it, its awkward for that purpose.I know it won't happen, but it could technically still hold purpose as a way for Luffy to fight an opponent without being primed to hate him. In all of the last few arcs, Luffy has always been carefully set up to be very angry at his opponent to make the fight conceivable to the reader. You'd always get a shot of Luffy (finally) getting angry at his opponent because he behaved so badly. A Back Fight could bypass that and alllow Luffy to fight once again just for the hell of it.
Alternatively, as said above, it could be a plot device for another crew. For example, having the SH Grand Fleet participate in one (against the Beast Pirates or so ^^) could be very interesting. -

Realistically we're in pretty deep, the stakes are ever higher, and it makes less and less sense for silly conflicts to be bothered with because there's less plausible scenarios.
Oda's gotten creative about it enough to come up with the Dressrosa Arena though, where we got fights like that.
The latter idea while fun sounding also kind of sounds like a waste of time, like it just doesn't have any purpose at all for Oda to use time.NOW, I've always thought the anime staff suck because One Piece and Oda himself have delivered sooooo much awesome potential filler plots, heck this could be one too, but rest assured they will not do things like that -_-.

Good call about the arena, I was only thinking about the main, final fights when I wrote my post. That being said, I'm pretty sure Oda will throw in random bizarre/awkward enemies along the road, simply to relax the plot a bit between all the serious Yonkou arcs. After all, we got things like Duval between Thriller Bark and Sabaody, Foxy between Skypea and Water 7 etc., and sure, they were ultimately relevant to the plot, but not in the way that Luffy goes on his usual routine of saving an entire country/beating some large threat to society. The size of the New World doesn't have to decrease just because the pace increases. Same with the Marines, since even though Smoker and Coby might be more friendly (although I doubt Coby will ever be a serious opponent), this will happen in the context in some much larger, and probably much more grim setting, so I'm not sure those fights will be for the hell of it.
(Also no idea about the Anime, I stopped with that around Sabaody because it got tedious)
-
I never thought of it this way, I just thought that it was a nice little arc to show an aspect of his universe as a nice touch.
Really? Because it had no far reaching effects, none of the characters introduced in it have ever been seen nor mentioned again and the concept itself of law breaking criminals suddenly being honorbound to follow the rules of a "pirate olympics" that involves betting crewmates like objects was bizarrely out of character for the world setting. Overall the entire thing seemed like anime filler that somehow snuck into the manga.
-
Really? Because it had no far reaching effects,
It fit perfectly in the thematic structure of that entire Vol.33-45 storyline. It had structural purpose.
none of the characters introduced in it have ever been seen nor mentioned again
Much like other simple short arcs. Good.
It would be bad world building if every character ever came up again.and the concept itself of law breaking criminals suddenly being honorbound to follow the rules
One Piece pirates have never had senses of honor, true.

i would love to see a long and physical sword fight between zoro and jack the drought, like 3 or 4 chapters that are fully dedicated to the fight.
with the best choreography and flow of action between panels you can get. i want to see them both get hurt, and have zoro get hurt more but end up winning and cutting jack's hand as revenge for what he did to the minks. -
There have been civilizations in the sky and underwater, so I want to see an underground civilization.
-
I would love to see the soldier dock system used a bit more in the future.
The shark submerged was only used once so far, while on FI it could have been a time for it to shine^^
Also the modified waver wasn´t really used by Nami so far.
The rest had brief introductions in FI, but i want to see them more used during exploring new islands and stuff :) -

I want Lucci to have a rematch with Luffy.
I want Robin to have a decent duel. I get why it's hard, but Oda is creative.
I want Enel's reappearance to coincide with the Reverie.
I want Tequila Wolf to make another appearance.
I want another Straw-Hat split, but with them time divided between Straw-Hats.
I want to see Magellan again. Love that guy.
T-bone. Bogart. Mamonga. Onigumo. Tsuru. Hina. All of the Marines we've seen a little of or, even very little of, I want to seemore of.
I want Vivi to travel with the Straw-Hats once more.
I want to see those aliens again.
I want Big Mom vs Kaidou stuff.
I want the final fight against Kaidou to be Luffy, Law, and Kidd vs Kaidou, and when everyone is defeated Moria stuffs several fallen people's shadows into him and they do a like, Gear 4th Nightmare Luffy.
