There's a subsection in your items or trainer card or something (sorry I'm not sure where exactly) that shows special cards you've gotten at event/wifi, be it shiny pikachu, or a legendary, or some other special giveaway. You can have up to three cards at a time, but then you can't receive anymore. You have to delete the cards to make space for new ones. Kind of pointless, but you can make more space.

The limit is really stupid, but… there it is. The cards don't actually do anything, they're just psuedo trophies. But the actual critters serve that.

I thought the cards also were able to be transfered to like three other players locally via mystery gift, or is that a myth. I'm not sure of the process at all.

I just read on Serebii's site that Europe will be getting the 3 shiny legendary dogs(that unlock Zoroark on Black and White) over Wi-Fi starting February 7th. It was also announced that Europe will get Celebi soon as well. It's unknown if America will be able to access the event as well but I'm hoping so.

I hate how imposible it is to get the one time promotional events critters if you miss them.

it was one thing when it was just Mew, and he was the secret extra dex entry. But then the next gen started at 152… and they've just released more and more legends since.

Would be nice if they had a different slot in the catalog, but its way too late to renumber them now.

I don't even like most the legendary critters, the over poweredness of them takes the fun out of it. (Tho I suppose its an odd position to take, when you end up over leveling weaker critters to higher levels instead...) It just always feels cheap and impersonal for some reason.

Robby we are getting them by Wifi in Europe(it seems), I have Diamond/Platinum/HG I can give you a Celebi/Dogs of each if you need, or anyone else, ofc I only have 3 games so I can only give 2 sets to two people.

This set of critters isn't a problem. I pass by a gamestop on the way home, and Celebi will be given out when the new game actually comes out, so thats not an issue.

But for like, Arceus, which was apparently a ToysRUs giveaway for a week, or some of the other random legends that have only had a single chance in the last many years. Again, I don't really care about the legends, but it really denies any possibility of filling out a dex… and any real point to even trying for that matter. (Of course, some 600 critters did that...)

Extra annoying is that the trade system in place doesn't let you ask for a critter on wifi unless you've actually seen it... but randomly seeing it in battle tower doesn't count.

Also apparently while trading forward into the next gen will be doable, (and they finally have it set up to do it enmasse) it won't be backward tradebale (cause of new moves and critters, natch, so that's okay) but it also won't let you trade over things that have HM moves... so my surfing Raichu is doomed to forever remain in Silver.

Just kind of odd when trading is such a huge feature of the franchise it still has problems like that.

Can't you just have the move deleter get rid of surf, and then trade it? That's what everyone did when they had to move their gba pokemon to the ds games.

or will its magical ability to learn surf not carry over into black/white? I don't see why it shouldn't…

The ONLY way Pikachu can learn surf is from a pokewalker course, and it was really frikkin rare even there. It comes with surf, it can't learn it any other way.

I experimented with it, if you delete it, its not relearnable through HM or move tutor.

Which sucks, because that really covered a ton of Pikachu's weaknesses and made it way more viable.

I'll be using the new critters anyway, but it sucks to not trade something forward like that.

But it was a huge bitch just to catch the one. they were super ridiculously rare. And I trained it and evolved it and everything.

And I don't think Dream World gives Pikachus access to those moves, either. At least, not yet it doesn't.

Oh well, flying squirrel, zebra, spider and eel all look cool, I won't have a problem using any of them. (But the ugly mud fish is out of luck.) It's just frustrating to get worked up and annoyed about the one specific instance. (Also annoying that all the old items can't be sent over either, but I suppose having 4 or 5 experience shares and bags full of Leftovers and whatnot is a bit broken.)

Meh Im just annoyed at the EV/battle items the rest of the items Im ok with, we can get everything and its not really hard, experience shares are not really usable if you have more then one, it cuts the experience more and more, wich makes it kinda meh, plus you have those leveling changes I talked about some months ago when I got my japanese version, that should help leveling newly caught pokemons to the team level really smoothly, the professor even gives you a lucky egg for better leveling.

If you want to use an electric pokemon I would recomend the eel or the spider, having used them all, those are the better ones(not talking about competive gaming), I personally love the spider for the looks/typing and used it after seeing that the zebra defense stats were just laughable and the thing would be one/two shotted a lot of times, Im going to only level EV trained pokes only when I have the European version so I didnt ready anything about it but stats/competitive wise the eel is the better one I believe, it has levitate so its avoids ground moves wich is kinda awesome.

Yeah, but if you aren't specifically trying to get one thing up and you're just casually wandering around, its helpful. Especially if your front critter is leveling too fast and getting ahead of your badge level. But…

I suppose that'll make a major difference. The professor even gives out lucky egg now? She's officially the best professor ever. (Besides Pimp Oak.)

I know Emonga has the worst stats of any electric this gen, and the worst stats of any flyer this gen, and only has access to one flying move, but I think I love it all the same.

Did any of you guys get stalked by the legendary cats/dogs/whatever while playing?

I'm currently doing a Nuzlocke Challenge on SS, meaning I can only catch the first Pokémon I see on each new route. I basically lost eight chances to catch something because the first thing that jumped at me was Entei or Raikou. What the hell? Those bastards successfully kept me from catching an electric Pokémon. Thank God for Eevee though.

Even after that, when I was just passing through, they kept popping up all the fucking time. I've been busy grinding in Victory Road and gambling for Ice Beam (which was easier than I thought it would be), so it's been a while since I gave them the chance to bother me, but they've already showed up so often … it's ridiculous.

The rules of that run are a bit weird and I do challenges all the time. It sorta reminds me of the death rules in Digimon World 1.

Anyway… I just had the patience to find Articuno(I hate caves). I caught it with a Pokeball on the first turn... >_> Sometimes I really do think spending a bunch of money of Ultra Balls useless. The odds are just so low, the chances of catching legends all comes down to silly luck decided by an awful random number generator.

Nuzlocke is basically plain patience and caution. It takes a long, long time if you don't want to lose anyone …

My team as of now (I just now, after ~~playing~~ grinding over 60 hours, dared to face the Elite 4):

! Dani, no gender, lvl 86
Lilly, , lvl 72 (no, I'm not gonna evolve her. I just like this form more. Also it looks way more feminine)
Amber, , lvl 65
Eve, (of course), lvl 66
! Also I had an Eevee (Sylvester, , lvl 29) and a Raticate (Max Jr., , lvl 27) with me, but those were just for decoration.

After the tragic loss of my Electrode just before reaching the Elite 4 I was left without an electric Pokémon. I didn't want to challenge the Elite 4 without finding a thunder stone for Eevee first, but as it turns out it's pretty much impossible to get one BEFORE having beaten the Elite 4. My only chance was a certain phone buddy to randomly call me, so I waited, and waited - and grinded in Victory Road using Dani and EXP Share, totally overpowering Dani in the process.
Well, the phone call never came, so I got sick of grinding. I gambled myself Ice Beam and Thunderbolt, went for it and easily won. Dani was just too much for them.

I got awfully careful after losing two Raticates (Max, lvl 18 and Ivy, lvl 45) and of course my Electrode Rick (lvl 47). Damn, I really miss that guy.

What's the general consensus on Pokemon Center's? My friend who does the challenges only uses Potions to heal them.

There are a few ways, like: only use potions, only use PokéCenters, use PokéCenters but throw away some item to "pay" for it every time you do … I don't think there's a general consensus.
Personally I use both potions and free Pokémon health care as much as I want, no rules or limitations.

But that didn't help my poor Lilly either. I lost her last night. God fucking damn it, Stylus, I didn't choose Flame Wheel, I chose Flamethrower! I clearly chose the attack on the right!
Her death was so avoidable. I feel terrible. She was about to hit lvl 80, too. It's always so hard to let your starter go.

Sylvester, my lvl 78 Jolteon (he was still an Eevee when I last posted), got brutally killed by a critical hit (Psychic) even though he had full heath and his enemy was lvl 61, what gives?!
I gambled myself another Eevee, my very very last chance to ever get a new electric Pokémon … now I only have to wait for Wednesday to earn myself a new Thunderstone from Pokéathlon. And then the grinding will start once more.

Just started one on Diamond-and holy shit, it is way tougher than I expected. I guess I never really realized how much I let Pokemon faint before since I took it for granted in previous plays. I just beat the third gym and already my body count is at 5-and that whore's Lucario critical hit and killed my starter Grotle. Pulled a Darth Vader, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" on that one. It's almost sad how depressed it made me.

The challenge is whatever you make it. I'd guess that would count as the first pokemon of the town. Metronome will be scary in a run like that.

It does in fact sound interesting, sticking with only what you immediately get would force you into using new things, and maybe not getting the best abilities or whatnot, but the "faint once=dead" thing seems kinda excessive to me.

Oh well, Black/White comes out in like 2 weeks, and I certainly won't be doing such a run for that.

Speaking of which, wild Pokémon with Explosion are damn scary during a Nuzlocke challenge - not as scary as Destiny Bond though. One of the Elite 4's Pokémon had that. Thank God I never saw it using it.

For me, gifted Pokémon or Pokémon you recieve as prices do count, that egg included. In-game trades however are ok since you don't gain anything from it for free. But I never had the chance to actually make a trade … I didn't really get a great variety of Pokémon in my run. No one wanted one of my six Raticates.

My sister and I had a discussion about that a few days ago and came to the same conclusion as RPGJay: As long as you don't use it for anything (fighting, training, HMs, contests…) it's perfectly fine. We decided that it would be ok/best to trade it to a different game and release the Pokémon you got in exchange.
