@RuNa:
Remember how Ruby and Sapphire got rid of all the stuff G&S brought in?
I take it you never played any of the DS games? They restored what little RuSa got rid of. And RuSa didn't get rid of all of the features.
-Berry trees still existed.
-You could still breed Pokemon.
-Steel and Dark-types still existed.
-Taking your Pokemon to people to raise their happiness still existed.
-You could still receive items to decorate a room of your own (Secret Bases)
-Day/Night evolutions still existed in some manner
-Pokerus was still rampant
-Pokemon still had an alternate color form
-Weather can still be changed, also affecting attacks.
-Pokemon still had genders.
The only things RuSa took out were Day and Night (which returned in D/P), and stats that made male Pokemon stronger than female Pokemon.
@Dragon:
And what's the current staple for Pokemon?
G/S introduced time, new and actually worthwhile Pokemon, two regions, and a bunch of activities. Isn't that what Ruby and Sapphire didn't do, but Diamond and Pearl had to because of that mistake?
I like how people bring up Kanto constantly. Kanto was terrible in GS.
Wanna go to the Safari Zone? Sorry, it's closed.
How about Cinnabar Island? Nope. At the bottom of the ocean.
Seafoam Islands? More like Seafoam Rock.
Mysterious Dungeon? Closed to the public
How about offering prayers for the dead Pokemon in Lavender Town's building? Nope. Turned into a radio station (lol).
The only purpose GS served was to lengthen the game and offer some sort of challenge. Why? Because Johto was short and the opponents were terribly weak; especially the joke of an Elite Four that carried level 40 Pokemon. Even the Kanto Gym Leaders had level 40s. The only really challeneging trainer was Red, since all of his Pokemon were in their late level 70s.
