About the Gear Three situation, I think I can shed some light on why they would do it that way.
TECHNICALLY, it's not written "Gear 3rd" in the Japanese Manga, it's written "Gear 3". The "Third" is the furigana reading given to the "3".
Here is a Visual example.
The Furigana reading is usually the right reading no matter what, that's just how it is. However, this gives enough wiggle room to say it's OK, considering:
- Ignoring the furigana, Oda DID write "Gear 3"
- the "3" is much more prominent in the bubbles than the "Third"
- It could have been worse, at least it's accurate.
As for "Sniperking", well, I'd wait to see it in the Magazine or Graphic Novels before jumping to conclusions, remember people, the same website is RIDDLED with false info and inconsistencies. Frankie is used despite The catch up SJ Book being RIDDLED with the spelling "Franky", they said "Davy Fight Back" at one point if I remember, and one of their website sections actually called Zoro "Zoro" JUST for that section.
"Sniperking" would make little sense for a few reasons, the biggest of which being the need to edit the Wanted Poster. Now, we know they've shown willingness to edit the art that way in the past, What with "Roguetown" and "Zolo" but this is really different from those. Both of those are "R-L" Situations, and both of those are just a SINGLE Letter, so as far as the amount of work needed to be done, it's relatively minor. Meanwhile however, "Sniperking" is two more letters than "Sogeking" and the entire first half of the word is different (barring the "S"). They would literally have to edit the ENTIRE name on the poster, and that's much more difficult on something that doesn't really need to be changed.
