Question. I've only read the first chapter of the manga (in the actual magazine it's in), and immediately decided to not read more because of the abysmal art (I started the anime first). So I took a peak at that latest chapter, and it looks way better and looks a lot more like the anime. My question: around what chapter did the art style change (for the better)?

Around chapter 30 is when it starts to improve, then from Baba Yaga arc it gets better.

I know, right? I just can't think how could Ohkubo outdone himself in the following chapters. The first development was expected, but the later caught me completely offguard.

Is it me or was Kid's transformation kind of…unspectacular? I liked this chapter more than the previous one, the fight seems to come finally to a climax. Is it me or is Black Star a bit overpowered ? The 'I can surpass the gods' thing starts to piss me off. Does anyone know why it takes translators so long to translate the soul eater chapters? I saw the first raws nearly 2 weeks ago.

Either way, this chapter was kinda intense. It's not that entertianing for a final battle by any means, but it's certainly getting off-the-wall insane now.
I expect Maka to be okay due to Black Blood or something. -

I understand that the author also wants Black Star to be really strong, but he was pretty even with Kid for a while, he shouldn't be fairing better than him.

Just seems weird to me that he gets no base improvement ya know? He's symmetrical at long last, but….slightly underwhelming. I was at least hoping for along the equivalent of Goku going Super Saiyan the first time.

My main beef with this final arc is that the Kishin and his clowns just pale in comparison to Medusa and her gang of misfits.
I was really hoping that Medusa would just somehow come back, discard Crona, and absorb the Kishin to become a proper final boss.

Don't forget how strong the Kishin is, he still gonna put up a fight even against Shinigami Kidd.
I mean, the Shinigami wasn't able too kill him either he got out of his prison. And I'm pretty sure that the battle that got the Kishin into that prison took more than a couple of minutes, which is how long the battle has been going since Kidd got the third line connected.
And Kidd going shinigami is not really a super-saiyan transformation, is more like a liberation. Kidd was a fragmentent of the shinigami, not a real biological son, so despite being reunited with the rest of him he still has no experience dealing with all the power he holds. He almost shat his pants when he realized how much madness he's now holding inside him.As for Black Star being over powered, didn't you guys read the chapter? The Kishin called Black Star a god of fighting, that's it, that's Black Star's development all trough out the series since chapter 4. He was always meant to go beyond human and I'm guessing that by the final chapter he will be one of those seven guardians of order alongside Kidd and Excalibur.
As for the rest of the chapter, the Shinigami's death pages were pretty good. And the overall art in the panels with madness was top notch.
I'll now wait for next month to see how this cliffhanger is resolved. -

Recently, there was an action-y arc with the glasses upperclassmen girl possessed by the third Gorgon sister, and now things have returned back to the calm slice of life. The chapters are really short because Ohkubo focuses on his main manga right now.

Ahh so that's why I haven't heard anything about Not. Well at least it is still moving forward and HOPEFULLY take priority once Soul Eater is complete (maybe fix up some extended plot lines that might have been neglected in SE).

Looks like next chapter is the final one. Now might be a good time for me to go back and read from the beginning and see how the series holds up. (Probably should've done that though a few months ago. I've been kinda lost for awhile now).

Whoa, some really nice art we had in this chapter. Having said that, most of the background was just black, but other than that, i found everything really beautiful. I was afraid that the ending would be rushed, but it seems that maybe there's no need to drag things more.
